Chapter 22 - The Lich's Final Stand

The atmosphere within the mausoleum was thick with the scent of decay and something else, something ancient and malevolent. Han Jingzhi, his senses heightened by Lilith's spell, could feel it. A presence, powerful and dark, was stirring within the depths of the mausoleum.

"Lilith," he whispered, his voice barely audible above the silence that had settled over the graveyard. "Do you sense that?"

Lilith nodded, her eyes narrowed in concentration. "Yes," she said, her voice low and steady. "Something is coming."

A deep, guttural growl echoed through the mausoleum, sending shivers down their spines. The ground beneath their feet trembled, as if a giant was awakening from its slumber.

"It's him," Lilith said, her voice laced with a hint of fear. "The Aluta Lich."

The Aluta Lich, a powerful undead sorcerer, was the guardian of this mausoleum. He was a descendant of Lich Arch Gamer, a legendary figure in the world of online gaming, known for his cunning and deadly traps.

The ground around them began to crack and crumble, as if the mausoleum itself was being torn apart from within. A wave of dark energy surged forth, engulfing the entrance of the mausoleum in a swirling vortex of shadows.

From the depths of the darkness, a skeletal figure emerged. It was the Aluta Lich, his bony form towering over them, his glowing crimson eyes burning with a malevolent light. He was armed with a staff that crackled with dark energy, and his skeletal body was adorned with ancient runes that pulsed with a sinister power.

"Welcome, challengers," the Aluta Lich said, his voice a raspy whisper that seemed to echo through their very souls. "You have come to face the wrath of the Aluta Lich."

Behind the Aluta Lich, a horde of skeletons emerged from the darkness. They were more numerous and powerful than the ones they had faced before, their bony forms radiating with an unnatural energy.

"This is it, Brother Jingzhi," Lilith said, her voice calm and resolute. "I'll support you from here." She gestured towards a shadowy corner of the mausoleum, her hands shimmering with an ethereal blue light. "I can't sustain my full power for long, but I can provide you with some protection and aid."

Han Jingzhi nodded, his shadow sword gleaming in the dim light. He knew that this was a battle they could not afford to lose.

The Aluta Lich raised his staff, and a wave of dark energy surged forth, engulfing the battlefield in a swirling vortex of shadows. The skeletons charged, their bony forms a blur of motion, their rattling bones filling the air with a chilling chorus.

Han Jingzhi fought back with all his might. Empowered by Lilith's spell, he moved with a speed and agility that surprised even himself. His shadow sword danced through the air, slicing through the skeletons with ease. Lilith, her fingers dancing with a faint blue glow, unleashed a barrage of spells, each one a burst of pure energy that shattered the skeletons into dust. The air shimmered with the remnants of her spells, leaving behind a faint scent of ozone.

The battle raged on, the air thick with the smell of decay and the sound of clashing steel. Han Jingzhi, his shadow sword singing a deadly song, carved a path through the skeletal horde. He felt the sting of bone on bone as he parried their attacks, the cold touch of death brushing against his skin. But he didn't falter. He pressed on, his resolve fueled by a burning desire to survive.

Lilith, her eyes narrowed in concentration, focused her energy on the Aluta Lich. She knew that he was the key to victory. If they could defeat him, the rest of the skeletons would crumble.

She raised her hand and unleashed a powerful spell, a blinding flash of blue light that engulfed the Aluta Lich. The Lich staggered back, his bony form crackling with energy.

"You think you can defeat me, little girl?" the Aluta Lich said, his voice filled with a cold fury. "You are but a mere ant in the face of my power."

Lilith ignored his taunts, she wasn't even using up to 20% of her power yet he could bark. If it hadn't been because of Han Jingzhi who couldn't handle the dungeon on his own, she'd have tortured him to death. Lilith sighed and continued her assault. She knew that she had to keep the pressure on, for Han Jingzhi to gain more ground.

"Brother Jingzhi," she said, her voice ringing with a newfound determination. "We need to finish this... or it might become troublesome soon and I might be forced to increase my power soon."

Han Jingzhi, his shadow sword dripping with the dark blood of fallen skeletons, nodded. He knew that Lilith was right. They had to defeat the Aluta Lich, and they had to do it now.

The battle reached its climax. Han Jingzhi, his shadow sword gleaming in the dim light, charged towards the Aluta Lich. Lilith, as usual, casted a glowing blinding blue light, that unleashed a barrage of attacks.

The Aluta Lich, his bony form crackling with energy, fought back with all his might. He unleashed a wave of dark energy that engulfed the battlefield, but Han Jingzhi and Lilith were prepared. They dodged the attack, their movements a blur of motion.

The Aluta Lich, his eyes burning with a malevolent light, raised his staff and unleashed a powerful spell. A wave of dark energy surged forth, engulfing Han Jingzhi and Lilith in a swirling vortex of shadows.

Han Jingzhi, his shadow sword gleaming in the dim light, fought back with all his might. He sliced through the dark energy, his movements a blur of motion. Lilith, still stood casting a small blinding blue light, that unleashed a barrage of attacks that shattered the dark energy into dust.

The Aluta Lich, his bony form crackling with energy, roared in frustration. He had never been challenged like this before.

Han Jingzhi, his shadow sword dripping with the blood of fallen skeletons, charged towards the Aluta Lich. He knew that this was their chance, he wasn't going to miss this opportunity.

He slashed his shadow sword through the air, his movements a blur of motion. The Aluta Lich, his bony form crackling with energy, raised his staff to block the attack.

But Han Jingzhi's shadow sword was too fast, too powerful. It sliced through the Aluta Lich's staff, severing it in two.

The Aluta Lich, his bony form crackling with energy, roared in pain. He had never been humiliated like this... attacking him and then breaking his staff.

Han Jingzhi, his shadow sword dripping with the blood of fallen skeletons, pressed his attack. He slashed his shadow sword through the air, his movements a blur of motion.

The Aluta Lich, his bony form crackling with energy, tried to block the attack, but he was too weak as his main weapon, his staff was already destroyed. Han Jingzhi's shadow sword sliced through his bony form, severing it in two halves.

The Aluta Lich, let out a final, agonizing roar before dissolving into a pile of dust and bone.

As several notifications appeared before his eyes.

"We did it," Han Jingzhi panted, his shadow sword still dripping with the Lich's essence. He looked over at Lilith, who was slowly regaining her strength. "That was close."

Lilith nodded, her eyes still narrowed in concentration. "Indeed. It seems we managed to clear the dungeon."
