Chapter 4 - Shroud Of Darkness

Items from within the Revolution Online world were divided as follows:

Iron

Copper

Bronze

Silver

Gold

Transcendent

Immortal

Demi-god

God

At the beginning of the game, the system gives each player an iron-grade armor and a weapon depending on the fighting style each has decided when distributing their status points.

If one is lucky enough, he/she could get a copper, bronze, or even silver item at most, but if discovered, they would become a target of envy for everyone.

For gold-grade equipment, it usually appears in the basic stages of the game. However, there are always people with heavenly luck or people with real skill who are capable of challenging higher-level monsters to get a gold-grade item.

Transcendent-grade equipment appears in the advanced stages of the game and is always in small amounts compared to the number of players.

The immortal-grade equipment can appear in the intermediate stages of the game. However, it has an extremely small chance of appearing and never exceeds the number of fingers on one hand.

Demi-god-grade equipment can only be obtained for a limited time by winning certain extremely difficult events near the end of the game. It is available for a limited time. The time limit is usually no more than 30 days, and then it will be removed by the system.

God-grade equipment? That's just a dream. A player cannot come in contact with items of that level.

Han Jingzhi and Lilith stood beneath the sprawling, azure sky of Revolution Online. A system announcement, invisible to Lilith's NPC eyes, had just flashed across his vision, revealing the existence of equipment tiers beyond even his wildest dreams.

"What's wrong, Brother Jingzhi?" Lilith asked, noticing his distracted gaze.

"Oh, nothing really... just the announcement…" He gestured vaguely towards the sky, a hint of awe in his voice.

"I don't see anything though?" she replied, tilting her head in confusion.

"Hm? You cannot see the words in the sky?" Han Jingzhi furrowed his brow, a realization dawning on him.

'Perhaps maybe NPCs can't see the grand system notifications?' he mused.

He opened his inventory, his heart pounding with a mixture of excitement and trepidation. There, nestled amongst his meager possessions, lay a dark, obsidian bracelet, its surface etched with intricate red runes. A faint, pulsating black aura emanated from it, hinting at a power far beyond its unassuming appearance.

As he reached for the bracelet, it seemed to stir with a life of its own. With a swift, almost graceful movement, it detached itself from his inventory and fastened itself around his left wrist, as if it had been waiting for this moment.

"It just couldn't be patient," Lilith's voice, laced with a touch of amusement, echoed beside him. She leaned closer, her gaze fixed on the bracelet. "Ever since you got here, the bracelet made me find you."

"What... How?" Han Jingzhi stammered, a mixture of shock and curiosity washing over him.

"I'm so sorry, Brother Jingzhi... But for certain reasons, I can't reveal such details to you for now. Please understand me," she said, her voice laced with a hint of sadness.

He nodded, speechless. His mind raced, trying to process the implications of her words. The bracelet, a gift from Lilith, seemed to possess a strange sentience, a connection to him that defied explanation.

As he focused his attention on the bracelet, a translucent information window materialized before him.

Han Jingzhi's jaw dropped. The bracelet, even in its sealed state, was a force to be reckoned with. He couldn't even begin to imagine its full potential once it was unsealed.

His gaze darted down to the next section of the window, revealing the bracelet's skills.

The sheer power of the bracelet's skills left him breathless. But amidst the exhilaration, a nagging concern began to gnaw at him. The Curse of Olympus, a crippling weakness that halved his experience points during daylight hours, threatened to undermine his every advantage.

He considered removing the bracelet, tempted to sell it and reap the rewards of its immense power. But the thought of betraying Lilith's trust felt unbearable. And besides, as he tried to remove it, he discovered that the bracelet was firmly attached to his wrist, as if it had become a part of him.

"This is inevitable" Han Jingzhi breathed out a heavy sigh and decided to check upon his status screen which he had not done since he arrived in this world.

"Character Status!"
