Chapter 142 - Near The God's Eye

(Third Person POV)

[Riverlands, Near The God's Eye]

In the skies, above an ensuing battle between the remnants of the Lannister/Hightower forces and the Tully forces, two dragons flew around, unleashing flames against each other.

It was Caraxes and Vhagar, letting out roars into the air as the old dragon chased the Blood Wyrm through the sky. With every second that passed, Vhagar unleashed a column of flames in an attempt to burn Caraxes out of the sky.

The Rogue Prince, who was mounted atop Caraxes, was smirking as he steered his mount away from the flames.

"Is this all you are capable of, Nephew?" Daemon taunted as he circled Caraxes over Vhagar, who let out a bone-chilling roar, "No wonder Aerion defeated you so soundly."

Aemond gritted his teeth, "Like Father like son, always underestimating me." He yelled, "After I am done with you, I will take your son's head, Uncle!!!"

Daemon chuckled as his cloak fluttered in the wind, Caraxes's roar drowning out his laughter, "Humor is not something I expected from a stuck-up cunt like yourself." He said, "You're just a little runt of a dragon to me."

"Underestimating me will be your downfall." Aemond growled as he leaned forth, "After your corpse falls into the God's Eye, the realm will rejoice!"

"I doubt that." Daemon said, "I will not die by your hand, Aemond."

Caraxes flapped his wings, letting out a roar as his unleashed flames at Vhagar, causing an explosion. Vhagar flew right through the massive cloud of smoke and flames, snarling viciously as she flapped her wings.

Aemond glared up at Daemon as he steered Caraxes away, "You're only delaying the inevitable, constantly running!!" He shouted

"You think I'm scared of you???" Daemon called, "I thought you lost an eye, not your brain! This is called a tactic, Nephew, I should've taught you some warfare when I had the chance. Not like your whore mother would've let you near me."

Aemond looked behind him and saw the ensuing battle on the ground, he noticed that his forces were being pushed back by the Tully forces. Daeron was not in the battle due to being caught off guard by Daemon's assault and was toppled off Tessarion, falling a couple dozen feet.

He was currently recovering from that and Tessarion was defending him from any incoming attackers. If it were not for that, Aemond was sure that the two of them were capable of taking on Daemon and Caraxes with ease.

They were wrong. Daemon was probably the best dragonrider in the realm, next to Aerion Targaryen of course. Aemond was just a close third when it came to the two of them, even compared to Rhaenys. But when it came to a dragon battle, everything came down to pure luck.

Unless you are Aerion Targaryen.

Aemond looked over at his Uncle, who was clearly playing around with him and clenched on the handles of his saddle, "I will not be looked down upon by a couple of bastards!!!!" He shouted, "The two of you were never worthy of your dragons!! Both you and Aerion are disgraces to the Targaryen name!!"

"Look who's talking." Daemon chuckled, "If anyone is worthy of that name, it's my son. You are merely the spawn of a weak man like Viserys. I loved my brother, but the fact that you came from him is a disgrace to our Father!! At the very least, I gave the world Aerion."

"Stop running and let's end this like actual men!!!" Aemond shouted, his forehead distorted by bulging veins, due to the rage he felt, "I am Prince Aemond Targaryen, son of King Viserys, all of you should kneel before me, the Rider of Vhagar."

"Your Grandfather, Baelon, must be disgusted." Daemon taunted, "For a weak, sniveling brat like yourself to inherit his dragon, Visenya's dragon.....it must be nauseating to even think about!"

As the two of them reached the God's Eye, flying high above the waters, Vhagar let out frustrated roar, trying her best to chase the much faster Caraxes. Caraxes returned the roar, glancing back at his chaser, flapping his wings as his rider merely laughed.

This was Daemon's plan; he knew that Aemond's forces were thinned down, compared to his. And the fact that the Hightower Host was pushed back to Tumbleton made things better for himself and his plan. So because of that, he attacked them, knowing that Vhagar and Tessarion were there. He wasn't in the slightest worried about Tessarion but was pleased that Daeron was momentarily delayed in partaking in the fight. Vhagar, however, was a threat but he was sure he can play around with her for a while before his forces finish up Aemond's.

The moment he felt like Elmo Tully's men were capable of completely defeating Aemond's forces, he would properly fight Vhagar and even attempt to kill Aemond. Unlike Aerion, Daemon had no qualms about Kinslaying. He was confident that if his son defeated Aemond in a quick battle, he was capable of doing the same.

"If for some reason, Aerion is in Tumbleton, where Ormund took his army.....then he might be capable of coming straight here to finish up the remaining forces...." Daemon thought to himself, "Vermithor is quite fast, even compared to Meleys and Caraxes. However, that much speed might put a strain on the Old Grouch....so I doubt it's wise. But Aerion is pissed, he wouldn't care about the consequences and I doubt Vermithor would either. I have to finish this before he arrives. Aemond and Daeron have to fall here."

He was right; the only reason Aerion was capable of doing all of his exploits during his war was that he pushed Vermithor to his limits, flying at full speeds and reaching locations of the Realm at terrifying speed. That is why he let the dragon rest while he led battles against the Hightowers, because Vermithor would be tired, despite his appearance.

Suddenly, Daemon heard the distant roar of Tessarion, "Ah..." He said as he turned to see the Blue Queen approaching rapidly, "So he comes...."

Aemond looked at his brother, "You're finally done sleeping, Daeron!!!" He shouted

Daeron, mounted on his dragon, merely scowled, "You try falling nearly thirty feet from your dragon, brother!!!" He shouted, "Uncle, you have to surrender!!"

"Me? Surrender?" Daemon said as Caraxes flew high into the air, "It is not my army that is being destroyed, it is yours!! And do you two twerps think you can defeat me? Your dear old uncle?"

"Enough, Daemon!!" Daeron said, "There is no need for bloodshed!!"

"No need for bloodshed???" Daemon said as Caraxes glided above the two of them, his massive red wings extended, "Say that to Lucerys, Daeron! You butchered the boy!!"

"I had no part in that!!" Daeron said, "I punished those who did! He was my nephew!!"

"As the two of you are." Daemon said, "And let me show you how a Targaryen Uncle treats a Nephew, like Maegor did to his."

"You're about to die, Uncle!" Aemond shouted as he glared at him

"We shall see." Daemon said

Then, they heard the loud roar of a familiar Dragon. All three of them turned to see the figure of Vermithor approaching through the clouds, the Bronze Fury letting out another roar that resounded through the air.

"This isn't good..." Daeron said as he and Aemond circled below Daemon, taken by surprise

Daemon smiled, "Ah...." He said, "So he did come after all.....that foolish boy.....you'll cause his hear to rupture, Aerion...no matter.....right here, right now...."

"A Final Dance."

[a/n: If it wasn't obvious, the reason Aerion was able to quickly traverse the land was because Vermithor was flying at tremendous speed. There is no traffic in the skies and there is no speed limits as well.]
