(Third Person POV)
"You don't want to do this, Aerion." Cole said, "No matter how much you try to go about it, the Realm will only look at you as a villain. The amount of blood you've shed up until now....it is worse than Maegor!"
Aerion tossed aside Ulf's head, "I have no time for your pitiful pleads." He said seriously as he drew his sword, "Shut up and come die like a real man."
Suddenly, several soldiers charged at Aerion from all directions as Vermithor watched from behind. Aerion quickly dodged the first attack as he countered with a swing from Lady Rhea, cleaving through his first victim as he thrust Lamentation at his second's chest.
Within the seconds after, Aerion spun around, blood flying everywhere as he swung both his sword with terrifying speed, blood and limbs flying out into the air as he stepped through the collapsing corpses of his enemies.
Both Gwayne and Cole were a bit taken aback by this sight, Aerion Targaryen casually walking through the rain of blood he'd cause.
Gwayne gulped, "W-Well...." He said, "Here goes...."
He charged at Aerion and swung his sword only for it to be parried with ease and was met with a boot to the chest, sending him flying back. The Hightower knight fell on his back hard, he air leaving his lungs quite quickly as his entire head was disoriented.
"Fuck off." Aerion said as Cole rushed past Gwayne and towards Aerion
Cole swung his sword hard as Aerion easily stepped back to dodge it, countering with his own thrust that was quickly parried by Cole. He didn't mind this and followed up with a downwards swing of his sword, only for Cole to jump away to avoid the blade.
Aerion then shoulder-tackled Cole quite hard, sending him flying over to where Gwayne laid. As he hit the ground, several other men rushed past them as they let out battle-cries.
Aerion didn't care for them and merely cut them down quite easily, blood spraying outwards as they all collapsed. One of them was able to avoid being cut down with the first few swings of Aerion, only to be met with a thrust from Lamentation, impaling him right through the chest.
"Foolish men..." Aerion said as he pulled out his blade, "There is no saving any of you.....all of you are dead."
Vermithor was watching this when he heard the footsteps of incoming men coming to aid them. He casually turns and opens his maw, unleashing flames that immediately burns both the men and the trees they were running through. The screams were loud and they were heard by both Cole and Gwayne.
Aerion met with three more men that charged at him, swinging hammers and sword at him, parrying their attacks and cutting them down. One got his entire arm cut off while Aerion finished him off with a thrust to the chest as he cleaved through half of the second one's neck, spraying blood everywhere. The final one got decapitated with one swift swing of his blade.
No matter how many men approached him in order to protect or save Cole and Gwayne, it didn't matter, they were all put down by the Red Dragon himself. Aerion didn't care much about this, he swung like it was a normal action to him. It was instinct to him, every swing meant another man dead. He was devoid of emotion at that moment, save for one; rage.
He was still enraged by the fact that the two boys he helped Rhaenyra raise were dead. Jaecaerys and Lucerys were not his sons; they were closer to him in age than Rhaenyra, but he still loved them. No matter what he did or say, they were his sons by marriage. And he loved those boys, he showed it in his own way but every single move he made when the war started was specifically to keep them safe.
Yet, it all went wrong. And he blamed nobody but himself. But a debt had to be paid. And it had to be paid in Fire and Blood.
So he was here to collect. And he won't stop until everything is reduced to ashes and rivers of blood.
Gwayne stood up and readied his blade, "I suppose this is where I die..." He said as he spat on the ground, "I cannot complain....it is by the hand of Aerion Targaryen, a true honor."
Aerion slowly walked up to him, "I'll make it quick and clean." He said, "Now come, do not die like a coward. Die fighting."
Gwayne gave him a smile, "Very well."
Cole stood up, "No." He said as he rushed Aerion, "He's the one that dies!!"
He thrust his sword at him, only for it to be parried by Lady Rhea and was met with a counter-riposte from Lamentation, his midsection being pierced.
"A-Aghh!!" Cole shouted as he spat out blood, "Y-You..."
"Reminds you of something, doesn't it?" Aerion said as he pulled his blade out, "You filthy fucking fucker. This entire time, you've laid your eyes with envy, Cole.....but enough of that.....that is long in the past. Now..."
He was about to swing his sword at Cole's head, who was stumbling a bit when Gwayne rushed past the Kingsguard and thrust his own sword at him.
Aerion sidestepped and went for a counter only for Gwayne to parry the sword and try to riposte, but failed as Aerion's second one parried his own blade. Aerion then kicked him in the knee, buckling him hard as he swung his sword down hard.
Lady Rhea cleaved through Gwayne's arm, lopping it off completely.
"A-AGHH!!" Gwayne shouted in pain as he was collapsed to one knee
Cole clutched the handle of his sword and tried to rush at Aerion from behind. Aerion, however, anticipated it and gave him a devastating back-kick that sent him flying back.
"Fuck off. I'm trying to give him an honorable death..." He said as he planted Lamentation on the ground
"S-So much for a clean one....eh?" Gwayne chuckled as he looked up at Aerion
"Forgive me. You had nothing to do with any of this, I'm sure." He said, "But sparing you is not an option."
"R-Right.....but...spare her....at least.." Gwayne winced, "My sister...."
"I cannot guarantee even that." Aerion said as he plunged Lady Rhea through his chest, the valyrian steel piercing through the armor, "You had my respect, Ser."
Gwayne coughed up blood, "As did....you...." He said as his eyes went white
Aerion pulled out his blade as Gwayne collapsed to the ground, "Death..." he said, "Is a constant in this world....but when good men die, it pains my heart. Was he as good as I believed? I will never know. He raised my cousin, Gods put his soul to rest..."
He slowly turned around to Cole who stood up, clutching his wound as his face went pale, looking over at Aerion who grabbed Lamentation.
"I...." He said as he looked around and saw that any men that tried to come through would simply be massacred by Vermithor, who let out a vicious roar in the background, "I guess this is it...."
"You're not as stupid as you were just a minute ago." Aerion said, "Accepting death."
Cole looked at him, "I...I don't know what went wrong with you, Aerion. You were a good boy, a quiet one..." He said as he winced in pain, "You know she tried to be good to you, Alicent did.....and you betrayed her...."
"I betrayed nobody. It is her that betrayed the Crown, her husband." Aerion said as he walked over to him, "And you.....you betrayed your King! You know!"
Cole smiled weakly, "Guess it doesn't matter now....eh?"
"Criston Cole...Lord Commander of the Kingsguard...." Aerion said as he reached him, "No songs will be written about you."
"Will they write some about you?" Cole replied
Aerion swung Lady Rhea down at Cole's body, cleaving through the left side and slashing right down to his waist, blood spewing out as the Kingsguard widened his eyes in shock.
Cole collapsed to the ground as Aerion pulled out his sword, already dead.
"I don't know." Aerion said as his response,
"I truly hope not."
