The emperor then replied, "But why him? He is—"
Before he could finish, Pari interjected, "I know how he is, but I can't control myself. As my sister said, feelings can't be controlled. Like everyone in the Kingdom, I admire him. He is the most powerful and the most handsome in this entire Kingdom. So if I am getting an opportunity, I would like to get close to him."
Reyan felt a wave of irritation sweep over him. How could she lie so easily, hiding her true emotions? She must be heartbroken.
The emperor, feeling helpless, could only say, "If this is truly what you want, then I will arrange a meeting between the two of you."
After this announcement, they all returned home. As soon as Pari stepped inside the mansion, she heard her father shout, "You ingrate! How can you choose Prince Veer? Do you really think he will fall for someone like you, who doesn't have skills or magic? You are just a foolish person."
Reeta also added, "Pari, we know you're feeling down, but you cannot make such a decision."
Pari smiled sweetly at her. "Doctor Reeta, this is our family matter. Why are you getting involved?"
Reeta froze, taken aback by her boldness. She never expected this.
Her father, Mayank, was furious and scolded her, "Is this a proper way to talk to your elders? She didn't say anything wrong; you are not worthy of that prince!"
Maira, her mother, stepped in, "She is just a child. You don't need to raise your voice at her."
Her husband countered, "You're the one spoiling her. Look at your daughter and then look at Niya."
Reeta, trying to calm the situation, said, "Don't worry, Minister Mayank, everything will be fine. Stay calm and relax yourself. Stress is not good for your health." She gently patted his shoulder.
Her father gradually calmed down and spoke softly, "Just look at her—she always makes me angry." Then he turned to his wife, scolding her as well, "You always take her side. That's why she's not improving."
Maira felt a pang of sadness, as her husband often directed anger towards her but never showed affection. She remembered how he had promised to move on from his first love after their marriage. But after she gave birth to their daughter, his demeanor had dramatically changed. He had even adopted another girl, stating, "This child is too pitiful, and we should help her."
She couldn't voice her thoughts—she was too gentle to oppose him. But she sensed that his behavior toward her was becoming increasingly harsh.
Pari watched the interactions, noticing how her father spoke kindly to another woman while being critical of his own wife. A sense of suspicion gnawed at her—there was more to their relationship. Her mother remained oblivious, but Pari was determined to uncover the truth.
Reeta then said, "Pari, look at Niya. She is always so well-behaved and responsible; she is strong and skilled. She is worthy of a prince, but you have nothing . How could you even think about marrying a prince."
