Chapter 1 - Kyle 001

Kyle softly closed his eyes on the hypertrain, his drowsyness slowly dissipating in the middle of the night as he droned on to work.

"One summer evening I'll be free from this hell hole." Kyle Thought.

All it takes in sector eight is for one small word, one tiny mistake and your put in a cell for weeks the mining facility is without a doubt dangeruous. The people in charge have more power than you could imagine and could care less about safety. But sector 8 is where you go to make big money early on in life, as long as you survive you can reap your rewards.

The reason for the constant brutal nature was that of the green substance known as "Phrexian" or otherwise known as Glass. It is highly toxic to living organisms, but when processed into a liquid it is a hundred times more potent than oil. Kyle glanced at the two guards strapped near the exits, blasters holstered and ready to fire. Just in case someone decided to start a riot. Kyle then looked at the clock above them. It just five past midnight. "Right on time" Kyle mumbled, just before hearing a buzzer. On cue he put on his gas mask to avoid the toxic fumes and checked his lazer cutter, the first time he did this Kyle fumbled and paniced but now it was almost a form of second nature to him.

The train went dark as it went through the no gravity zone. Then flickered back in as the train slowly came to a halt. The guards stood up, they did manditory checks of the passengers and sent them to their respective areas for the night. For two weeks Kyle would be working at the mining feild. All for the sake of Glass. Kyle grumbled at the bunkbed before collapsing in the sheets. Starting tommorow he would be working himself down to the bone. So he needed the rest right now...

Kyle woke up to the buzzer of his cell door opening, and the shuffling of his own feet. Still partially asleep he broke into a cold sweat as he realized what was happening. He was moving on his own his body taking control of his limbs, a form of sleep walking. still in his black and yellow Miners Habit from the previous night it swayed loosely against his clothes.

Kyle felt immense preasure on his lungs, he had already breathed in the fumes that Glass produces as it decays and was feeling the side effects. nauseous, he leaned over the rail. his body took a step up. "no, no, no, NO!"

Kyle stopped breathing, fear and adrenaline laced throughout his body. Gazing at the pool of molten Glass below him, he slowly stepped down from his precarious position. "Thank God" he breathed.

Kyle felt a firm hand take hold of his shoulder, and in mere seconds he was falling.
