Chapter 24 - Chapter 24: The Proof of Trust

Ethan stood outside Olivia's apartment, the crumpled blood work report in his hand. His heart pounded, the events of the past few days playing over in his mind. The confrontation with his mother had left him more determined than ever. Jenna's betrayal had driven a wedge between him and Olivia, but now he had the proof. He could clear the air once and for all.

He took a deep breath and knocked on the door. A few moments later, Olivia opened it, her face a mix of hesitation and hope.

"Ethan," she said softly, stepping aside to let him in.

"Olivia, I have something to show you," Ethan said, walking into her living room. He handed her the blood work report, his fingers trembling slightly. "This proves what I've been telling you. Jenna drugged me. I didn't know what was happening until it was too late."

Olivia looked down at the report, her brow furrowed as she skimmed over the details. The confirmation was there in black and white—evidence that a sedative had been found in Ethan's system. But instead of focusing on the report, her eyes lifted to meet his.

"I believe you," she said, her voice steady.

Ethan blinked, surprised. "You do?"

Olivia stepped closer, her eyes softening as she reached for his hand. "Ethan, I trusted you before you even showed me this. The truth is, I never believed Jenna. I was angry, confused, and hurt, but deep down, I knew you wouldn't betray me like that. This report... it's just proof for everyone else. For me, it was never about this."

Ethan felt a wave of relief wash over him. He pulled her into a tight embrace, burying his face in her hair. "Thank you, Olivia. Thank you for trusting me."

She held him for a long moment before pulling back slightly, her face resolute. "But this doesn't mean Jenna is getting away with what she did. She tried to destroy us, and I won't let her. This report is more than just proof—it's evidence. We're going to file a complaint."

Ethan looked into her determined eyes, admiring her strength. "Are you sure? This could turn ugly. Jenna won't go down without a fight."

Olivia nodded. "I don't care. She needs to face the consequences. And I'm not going to let her get anywhere near you—or our wedding."

Without hesitation, Olivia picked up her phone and dialed the local police station. Ethan watched as she spoke to the officer, explaining the situation in calm, clear terms. There was no hesitation in her voice, no trace of doubt. She was doing this for them, for their future.

Within minutes, the police were on their way to file the official report. Olivia hung up the phone and turned to Ethan, her resolve unshaken. "They're going to investigate Jenna. She won't be a problem anymore."

Ethan nodded, grateful for her courage. "You're amazing, Olivia. I don't know how I got so lucky."

Before Olivia could respond, Ethan's phone buzzed loudly in his pocket. He glanced at the screen and saw his mother's name flashing. He sighed, knowing exactly what this call was about.

"I'm guessing she found out," Olivia said, raising an eyebrow.

"Of course she did," Ethan muttered, silencing the phone. "She probably knows about the complaint and is furious."

"She's not going to let this slide, you know," Olivia warned. "Are you ready for that?"

Ethan shook his head, placing his phone back in his pocket. "I don't care what she thinks anymore. This is our life, and I'm done letting her control it." He leaned in, his voice softening. "I have something planned for us tonight. Something special."

Olivia's eyes widened slightly in surprise. "What is it?"

Ethan smiled, his excitement barely contained. "It's a surprise. But I'll tell you this—get ready for a ride."

Later that evening, Olivia found herself seated in a luxurious black limousine, gliding through the bustling streets of the city. Ethan sat beside her, his hand resting gently on hers, a glint of mischief in his eyes. She had no idea where they were going, but the anticipation buzzing through her veins made the evening even more exciting.

They arrived at an elegant rooftop venue, the city skyline twinkling like a sea of stars against the deepening night sky. As the limo pulled up to the entrance, Olivia's breath caught in her throat. The entire rooftop had been transformed into a magical scene—lavish decorations, fairy lights twinkling in the air, and a feast laid out for what appeared to be hundreds of guests.

The moment they stepped out of the car, cameras flashed, and reporters swarmed around them. Olivia blinked, momentarily stunned by the sheer number of people and the extravagant event Ethan had orchestrated.

"What is this?" she whispered, turning to him in awe.

Ethan grinned. "This is for us, Olivia. I wanted to do something special, something massive. And I wanted the whole world to see it."

Before she could respond, Ethan led her up to the center of the rooftop, where a grand platform had been set up. The media followed, their cameras trained on the couple as they stood in the spotlight.

Ethan's gaze never left Olivia's as he took a step back and then slowly dropped to one knee, pulling out a glittering diamond ring from his jacket pocket.

The crowd gasped, and Olivia's heart stopped. She placed a hand over her mouth, her eyes filling with tears as Ethan's words echoed across the rooftop.

"Olivia, from the moment I met you, I knew you were someone extraordinary. What started as a business deal turned into something so much more. You've become my partner, my confidante, and my future. I don't want to wait any longer to make it official. Will you marry me?"

Tears slid down Olivia's cheeks as she nodded, too overwhelmed to speak. She knelt down beside Ethan, pulling him into a tight embrace, the cheers of the crowd surrounding them as the cameras flashed.

"Yes," she finally whispered into his ear. "A thousand times, yes."

Ethan slipped the ring onto her finger, and they stood, hand in hand, as the crowd erupted into applause. The feast began, but for Ethan and Olivia, the world seemed to fade into the background. Tonight, it was just them—standing together, stronger than ever, ready to face whatever came their way.
