Chapter 4 - Gathering of Titains

The Nexus Realm was a place where the extraordinary was ordinary. Each breath I took was charged with power, and every being I laid eyes on seemed to possess abilities that defied logic. As Brianna and I stood before the mysterious figure and its entourage, I could feel the weight of their collective presence pressing down on us.

The figure stepped forward, its silver eyes gleaming with amusement. "You seem excited, Siobhan. Perhaps you're not as apathetic as you appear."

"Finally, something worth my time," I replied, cracking my neck. "So, what's this all about? You're not the type to make idle conversation."

The figure smirked. "You're right. But first, introductions are in order." It gestured to the beings behind it, each one stepping forward in turn.

The first was a towering, armored warrior with skin like molten lava and eyes that burned like twin suns. He carried a massive greatsword that crackled with energy. "I am Vulkan, the Flame of the End," he rumbled, his voice like a distant volcano ready to erupt.

Next was a woman whose form was wreathed in shadow, her features shifting as if she were made of liquid darkness. Her eyes were pools of void, pulling in light and hope alike. "Nyx, the Abyssal Sovereign," she whispered, her voice chilling the air.

Then came a creature that defied description—a swirling mass of cosmic energy and shifting geometries. It had no face, yet I could feel its gaze boring into me. "We are Astra, the Unfathomable," it said, its voice resonating with a thousand tones.

Lastly, there was a slender man dressed in flowing robes that shimmered with the colors of the cosmos. His smile was serene, but his eyes carried the weight of untold knowledge. "Zenith, the Herald of Infinity," he said, inclining his head slightly.

The original figure stepped back, letting the others take center stage. "These are some of the Nexus Realm's elite—a mere taste of the power that resides here. You'll be facing all of them, and more, if you choose to stay."

Brianna's face had gone pale. "Sion, these guys… they're monsters."

"They're supposed to be," I said, my gaze never leaving the group. "But that's why we're here, isn't it?"

Vulkan let out a low, rumbling laugh. "You've got spirit, kid. I like that. But don't get cocky—you're entering a world where power alone won't save you."

Nyx's shadows rippled as she spoke. "This realm is built on more than brute strength. Strategy, cunning, and the ability to adapt will be just as crucial. Many have entered the Nexus Realm with godlike power, only to be swallowed whole by those who outwitted them."

Zenith nodded. "The Nexus is not merely a battleground. It's a proving ground—a crucible where only the most worthy survive."

Astra's shifting form crackled with energy. "Your existence here will be one of constant challenges. There are no shortcuts, no easy victories. Every battle will push you to the brink of your abilities, and even then, it may not be enough."

I felt a thrill course through me. This was exactly what I had been craving—an environment where I wouldn't just breeze through everything. A place where I could truly be tested.

"So, how do we start?" I asked, my voice brimming with anticipation.

The silver-eyed figure's smile widened. "That depends. The Nexus Realm operates on a principle of choice. You can choose to challenge others directly, take on trials designed to push your limits, or seek out rare artifacts that can enhance your abilities. The more you risk, the greater your potential reward."

Brianna looked at me nervously. "You're seriously planning to jump straight into this, aren't you?"

I shrugged. "Why not? We didn't come all this way just to stand around. Besides, isn't this what you wanted too? An adventure worth talking about?"

She bit her lip but nodded. "Yeah… I guess I just didn't expect it to be so intense right from the start."

I turned back to the group. "Alright, I'm in. Let's see what this place is really made of."

Vulkan grinned, brandishing his greatsword. "Then let's not waste any time. How about a warm-up? A little sparring match between you and me—just to see if you're worth the hype."

Before I could respond, Nyx interjected. "Let's make it more interesting. A four-way match—Vulkan, Astra, Zenith, and Siobhan. We'll see how well you fare against multiple opponents at once."

Brianna's eyes nearly popped out of her head. "Wait, you're gonna throw him into a match against all of you at once? That's insane!"

But I was already smiling. "Perfect. Bring it on."

The arena was a vast, open space carved from crystal and stone. Pulses of energy ran through the ground, forming intricate patterns that shifted with every step. The sky above was a swirling vortex of colors, as if the very fabric of reality was alive.

Vulkan hefted his greatsword, flames licking along the blade's edge. "Let's see how you handle the heat."

Astra's form rippled as it floated above the ground, its shifting geometry creating dizzying patterns.

Zenith stood calmly, hands folded behind his back, a slight smile on his lips. "This will be enlightening."

I could feel my pulse quicken. This was the kind of challenge I'd been waiting for—something that could push me to my limits. I summoned my energy, focusing it into a tight sphere around me. My "Existential Revert" skill would be key here, but I'd need more than just that.

Brianna watched from the sidelines, worry etched across her face. "Sion… be careful."

I gave her a confident nod. "Don't worry. I've got this."

And with that, the battle began.

Vulkan charged first, his greatsword crashing down with the force of a meteor. I sidestepped, the ground splitting beneath his strike as I redirected the momentum. Astra's form twisted, sending out tendrils of energy that wrapped around me, warping space to distort my movements.

But I wasn't fazed. With a flicker of thought, I rewound the space around me, unraveling Astra's distortion. Zenith, meanwhile, raised a hand, and reality itself seemed to bend. Gravity intensified, pressing down on me from all directions, threatening to crush me under its weight.

"Interesting," I muttered, tightening my aura. I imposed a new law on the space around me—one where gravity was nullified. The pressure lifted instantly, leaving me free to move.

Vulkan came in again, his blade wreathed in molten energy. This time, I met his strike head-on, reinforcing my body with pure will. The impact sent shockwaves rippling through the arena, but I held firm, forcing him back with a surge of power.

Astra shifted its form, creating a barrier of spatial anomalies that pulsed with chaotic energy. But I was ready. I imposed the concept of stability onto the barrier, neutralizing the anomalies and blasting through with a wave of force.

Zenith's smile widened as he unleashed a barrage of illusions, each one a mirror of the attacks I'd just faced. They were perfect replicas, down to the last detail—except I could see the slight imperfections in the patterns.

"Nice trick," I said, shattering the illusions with a thought. "But I've seen better."

The fight raged on, each opponent pushing me harder than the last. But I wasn't backing down. I could feel the thrill of combat surging through me, the adrenaline coursing in my veins. This was what I lived for—a challenge that made me work for every victory.

After what felt like hours, the dust finally settled. Vulkan was panting, his armor cracked and smoldering. Astra's form was flickering, struggling to maintain cohesion. Zenith still stood calmly, but I could see the faint beads of sweat on his brow.

I, on the other hand, was grinning from ear to ear. "That was fun. We should do this more often."

Nyx, who had been observing from the sidelines, nodded approvingly. "You held your own well enough. But this was just the beginning. If you truly want to rise in the Nexus Realm, you'll need more than raw power—you'll need to evolve."

I knew she was right. This place was full of beings that could challenge me in ways I hadn't even imagined. But that was exactly what I wanted.

Brianna ran over, relief flooding her face. "You're okay! I thought they were gonna tear you apart!"

"Not a chance," I said with a smirk. "This is only the start."

As we left the arena, I couldn't help but feel a surge of excitement for what lay ahead. This realm was everything I'd been searching for—a place where I could finally push myself to the edge, and maybe even beyond.

But deep down, I knew this journey would be more than just a series of battles. The Nexus Realm was filled with mysteries, secrets, and challenges that went far beyond simple combat. And I was ready to uncover every one of them.
