"This book it can't be." Noah says this in shock. He reads it again. "Darkness; only darkness is left in their wake." But now he continues.
"Terror, oh terror, of the beings who take skin."
"Blood, oh blood of beings who bleed purple."
"Bone, oh, bone of beings who morph as they please."
"Have you forsaken me, brother, the oath of the shadow?"
"Have you forgotten your debt, the debt of greed?"
"Oh shadows, shall we rise once again, shall we kill as we please, shall we see humans bow to their knees? Greed, Greed, Greed, is all that stands in our wake, the blasphemous Greed."
Noah looks in horror as he reads this; his knees quiver, yet he stands tall. "Cupiditas, I hate you, but I ask you to watch over us humans."
"Cut," "thump," Noah cuts down the body's
And stares at them. "Robin, you always liked to play in this house, with your tea pots and dolls. Hans, you used to talk about your love for books, especially the books about knights. Even wishing to be a knight of Greed." Noah spoke to the poor kids with a loving look. "Chop chop chop chop." "Maddison, you were always so good at singing, I remember when you sang the ballad of love at your wedding," Noah said before picking up the book and putting it into his jacket pocket. He then walks to the stairs. "Cut." Noah looks at the boy with a smile and says, "Bobby, you were a great runner. I remember when you and I played hide and seek for hours. You got lost in the woods, and I remember you crying, the guilt I felt for that was astounding. " Noah then grabs Carlson and walks down the steps, carrying him. Then he exits the door and throws Carlson into the rover. Noah then looks around and sees the houses that used to look like gold to him. He sees the Carlo family's estate and its robust size. He grabs a jerry can, walks up to the house, and pours the gas. "Click Click," "thop," "bumfffffff," "crackling." "Forgive me for not being able to save you, and your family, Jean."
Noah then walks away from the burning house with tears falling from his eyes. "Drip"
"Drip," "Drip," "Drip." "Mom, when will it stop raining?" the little boy asks. "Bunny, the rain will end after we sing a song and you go to bed." The mother said and continued, "Now, bunny, sing with me."
"Rock a bye, baby, on the treetop,
When the wind blows the cradle will rock.
When the bough breaks the cradle will fall,
and down will come the baby, cradle and all. Rock a bye, baby. Gently you swing
over the cradle, Mother will sing.
Sweet is the lullaby over your nest that tenderly sings my baby to rest. From the high rooftops, down to the sea
No one's as dear as my baby to me.
Wee little hands and shiny and bright eyes Now sound asleep until morning light
Rock a bye baby, on the treetop.
When the wind blows, the cradle will rock.
When the bough breaks the cradle will fall,
and down will come baby, cradle and all."
As they finished singing, the mother tucked in her boy and said, "Now bunny, go to bed or the shadows will eat you."
"Vroom" Carlson wakes up in the passenger seat of the rover and notices the night. The purple lights on the buildings illuminate his face. "You passed out when you saw the body's." Noah said, looking at him with a sympathetic look. "Noah, what were you doing?" Carlson asked with a concerned look. Noah responded calmly, "inspecting the body." Carlson looks at him with a suspicious look but dismisses his concerns, trusting his partner. "We want you at RM Corporation; this message is supported by Richard Morgan." Noah's face was distorted, but it returned calm a second later.
Morgan, fucking Morgan, you piece of sh*t.
Noah thinks
Carlson falls back asleep as they pull into the station. "Carlson, wake up." "Tap tap tap." "Carlson wake up," Noah says. "What, Noah?" Carlson asks. "We're here at the station; be ready to clock out." Noah and Carlson walk into the station, noticing only one room light on. "Isn't that Tom's room?" Carlson said. "Noah, I never knew Tom cared for his work this much." Carlson stated. Noah and Carlson walk up to the door. As Noah goes to open the door with a nervous look, he says, "He doesn't." "Slam" Noah kicked the door, only to see Tom standing there. "Noah, Carlson, what are you two doing here?" Carlson looks surprised, as he thought something had happened for Noah to be this anxious.
"Nothing, boss, Noah responded calmly. "But boss, why didn't you show up for the investigation on Sage Street?" Noah asked with a curious look. "Sorry, I got caught up organizing evidence," Tom said. "Bam," "plop," "NOAH, YOU FUCKING KILLED HIM!" Carlson said with a furious look as he went to grab his gun. Noah stops him, saying, "It wasn't Tom; Tom wasn't assigned this case with us; he's the one who assigned it." Noah states. "Look at his skin; it's sliding off, and where's his shadow?" Noah spoke. Carlson heeded his words and saw as Tom's skin peeled off, looking like it was tearing at the seams. Then he looked at his shadow, but there wasn't one. Carlson's ineptitude made him upset, as he didn't even notice something so obvious. "Carlson, you wanted to know what I meant earlier in the house, right?" Noah states. "Gulp" "Yes," Carlson responds. "I hunt shadow walkers, those slimy disgusting pieces of shit." Noah's face was contorted with wrath, yet there was a huge sneer, then he looked down and let out a psychotic laugh, then he spoke quietly with the volume increasing. "I found you; I FINALLY FOUND YOU!"
