The fishing was surprisingly good. I reeled in a variety of colorful fish, unlike any I'd seen before. As I sat there, enjoying the solitude, I glanced back at the main island and noticed a few familiar figures watching me from the shore. Even here, I couldn't escape their watchful eyes. Were they truly so worried I'd disappear?
I pushed those thoughts aside and focused on the peace of the moment. By the time the sun began to dip towards the horizon, I had a dozen fish in my bucket, more than enough to satisfy my hunger. As I rowed back towards the harbor, I crossed paths with the other fishermen, their faces weary but content.
"Good day today, eh?" one of them called out, his voice roughened by the sea.
I held up my bucket with a grin. "Not bad at all."
He chuckled. "Not bad for a beginner."
