The journey was relatively uneventful. Whenever we needed to stop at a tavern, we managed to find one. And most were located on the road for travelers, which meant the prices were much lower than taverns found in larger cities.
But we didn't have much money and needed to conserve it. So, around the fourth day of travel, we started sleeping in the forest. But not just anywhere. We made sure to stop near taverns and sleep in the surrounding area.
Most of these locations were somewhat safer than usual, with fewer bandits or magical beasts. It was the best place for us to sleep under the circumstances.
"Are we really going to sleep on the ground?" Luna asked, looking around anxiously.
"Relax," I reassured her. "We can sleep near the eagle. She's not strong in combat, but she's quite intimidating, and that will deter most predators that might try to approach us while we're sleeping."
