The women that found me in the forest during the first day were strong. I knew I didn't have a chance if I decided to fight against them. But the woman next to me? Well, she was weak!
Being a chief of a village didn't necessarily mean you were powerful in combat. Her father was way wealthier than the rest of the village, so he was probably a merchant or something similar, and his influence was what gave him the post of chief.
So, although she was his daughter, she sucked in combat, at least up to that point. If we were to get out alive, then I had to be the one doing something.
"Run!" I yelled.
The way I talked made her understand what it meant even though she had no idea about the language. I dashed toward the wolf that was standing in front of us, and she came along with me.
Then, using the power of my awakened rank D physique, I grabbed the wolf by the collar, and restrained him! That gave her enough time to run past the wolf and go straight to the village.
She wouldn't be of much help, anyway. I hoped that she reached the village to ask for help. The wolves weren't powerful, but they were three, and I was one.
The wolf I grabbed didn't stand still. It bit my right shoulder, piercing through my skin. Pain. The bite hurt a lot, but I greeted my teeth and did my next move, which was a powerful punch right into the wolf's jaw!
My physique power was not the best, but those were ordinary wolves. They didn't have mana enhancing their bodies, and that gave me an enormous advantage. The wolf went flying with the power behind my punch, and that scared the others!
The two wolves behind me didn't move. Their instincts were telling them that I was a powerful prey, someone that they shouldn't take lightly.
But the disadvantage was still there. All of them pounced on me at the same time! I tried to dodge by rolling or ducking to the side, but it didn't work. They were faster than me.
One of them tried to bite my neck. I knew a bite in the neck would mean game over for me, so I did everything I could to protect my neck! That made the rest of my body exposed to their attacks, and one of them bit my ankle!
"Fucking bastard! I won't die without taking at least one of you with me!" I yelled.
Using the strength left in my body, I grabbed the wolf, who bit my ankle by the neck and exerted all the strength I could muster. The mana empowered me, and adrenaline took over my body.
I was not expecting to do what I did: I broke the wolf's neck. The power needed to do such a thing was not something my weak body should be able to do, but I did it!
The lifeless body of the wolf dropped to the ground, and the other two wolves howled at me. They were angry. But as they were ready to dash toward me and finish me, arrows came flying!
It was the villagers who came to rescue me! I had no idea how they arrived so fast, but they did! The people who came to save me were the same women who tied me up before. They were among the strongest people in the village.
With weapons and their superior power, the two wolves didn't stand a chance. They died in seconds.
The last thing I remember seeing was the women running toward me with worried gazes. I lost a lot of blood and eventually faded.
*
I didn't know how many days had passed since the attack. The language barrier made it impossible for us to communicate, but I felt it had been a few days.
The villagers took care of my wounds. I had bandages all over my body. It didn't hurt as much as I thought it would. Perhaps it was my enhanced body that made my recovery faster.
When I looked to the side, the chief's daughter was there. She was standing next to my bed, asleep. I saw the worry on her face.
I tried to get up, but it was hard. The bite on my shoulder wasn't that bad, but the one on the ankle? Well, that was bad. It restrained my movements, and I could barely walk.
She woke up shortly after I did and gestured for me to stay on the bed to recover. I had no idea how many days I would have to stay there, but there was no way around it.
One month passed quickly. I got a surprised halfway through the month. The chief's daughter, Luna, had been teaching me their language every day, and trying to talk to me so that I could practice.
The language wasn't that hard, but learning it with just one month of study was impossible. Well, impossible for those without the system's help. A notification from the system made my learning process a lot easier.
[New passive unlocked.]
[You had been learning a foreign language with a skilled tutor, and that rewarded you with a passive.]
[Language Mastery (Level 1): You can learn and memorize anything related to languages 200% faster.]
[Skill Type: Passive.]
That was the first passive I got from the system. It was a pretty good one, and because of it, my progress was much faster than it should have been! I already had a certain advantage memory wise because of the enhancements the mana did to my body, so add the passive into the mix and that explained my rapid improvement.
"How are you feeling?" Luna said.
We were studying inside the room they gave me.
"The shoulder is as good as new, but the ankle needs a few more days to fully recover, I think," I said.
Luna nodded. "That's good to hear. Also, I don't know if I told you, but I'll leave with my father tomorrow. We'll be carrying goods to trade in a nearby city."
"Really? So I won't have anyone to talk to, making my healing much more boring."
She chuckled, "Relax, my mother will stay here to take care of you."
I gulped. The mission Aphrodite gave me was still active, and for the first time, I would be alone with a Milf. Was this my chance?
