One of the problems I faced was sleeping. My leather sack held the items I stole from the noble, and I couldn't let anyone see it. That would be incredibly problematic.
So, when I had to sleep, I made sure to keep the bag as close as possible, ensuring no one would try to steal it or look inside. The other merchants noticed my behavior, but none of them said a word. I slept through parts of the journey, and as far as I know, no one saw what was inside my bag.
After about two days of traveling with them, we were stopped by a group of soldiers. I knew what they wanted.
"We just want to check the carriage, if that's okay," one of the soldiers said.
The merchant who seemed to be the leader of the group didn't mind. "Sure, no problem, officer. We have nothing to hide."
