[POV: Lucas]
After Luna left, it also dawned upon me that I am both Lucas Greymore and Kai Renant. Growing up on earth, my life was was pretty ordinary. I lived in a small cozy house with my parents and little sister. Where everyday was the same routine. Wake up, eat, school, home, eat and sleep. It was a monotonous routine but it was still fun with moments within that routine to be cherished. However despite having those moments it felt lacking in a way. Like something was missing and so to fill that gap I started to play games. For me they were an escape from reality's boring life.
I divulged in many different games ranging from RPG's to FPS games. But nothing could fill that hole I felt was missing within me. Years later, a game called "Hearts of the fallen realm" released. The game was popular around the world, even whilst working I was still a game fanatic so I decided to indulge in it.
When I first started playing "Hearts of the fallen realm," I thought I knew what to expect- another romance fantasy game with some pretty visuals and a predictable storyline. But it didn't take me long to realise that there was something special about this game.
Right from the beginning, the world pulled me in. The graphics are stunning, with beautifully crafted landscapes and magical realms that feel alive with detail. The characters were also just captivating, each with their own unique backstory and personality. But what really suprised me was how deeply invested I was in the story.
Unlike other games, where the romance feels tacked on, here it's woven into every aspect of the plot. The choices you make don't just affect who you end up with, it can change the dynamic of the world around you.
The power system was also a real highlight as there was a high level of mastery required to work out the mechanics of the game. This game was a one of a kind that made me feel alive. It filled the vacancy I felt within my soul.
Despite being Kai, I am also Lucas Greymore. Growing up as the son of a nobleman, you'd think Lucas had everything a boy could want—wealth, status, and all the privileges that came with being part of the upper class. But the one thing he didn't have was his father's attention. His mother had passed when he was only a baby causing his father to drown himself in work.
He was always too busy with affairs of the estate, meetings with other lords, and keeping up appearances. Lucas was more of an afterthought to him, a name to be passed down rather than a son to be raised.
Without his guidance, Lucas learned to fend for himself in a world where power and reputation meant everything. He quickly figured out that if his father wouldn't take notice of him, others would.
He grew up with servants and tutors who obeyed his every word, not out of love, but because they had to. It wasn't long before Lucas started to believe he was above everyone else. Why wouldn't he? His father might have ignored him, but the world still bowed at his feet.
Lucas then became arrogant, convinced of his own superiority because no one ever challenged it. His father's neglect didn't teach Lucas humility or kindness; it taught that power is all that matters, and as the heir to a noble house, he had it in spades. He looked down on those around him, thinking himself better simply because of his birthright.
In the end, his father's indifference shaped him into someone I'm not sure I like—a boy who craved recognition and respect but ended up believing he was entitled to it without earning it.
But that person is now me and I am him. We are both Lucas and Kai. Despite Lucas' arrogant nature due to lack of affection, I could understand him. His arrogance stemmed as a defence mechanism something he used to seek validation of his existence.
I should have gone down to greet my so-called family sooner, but I had been pondering for too long. I then got dressed in whatever I had in my wardrobe and walked out of the room. I unlocked the door and left my room.
I was astounded by the grandeur of the estate I was staying in once more as I left the room. The wide windows on my side were enclosed by strong ancient oak wooden rods that curled like an arch at the top. The sound of my footsteps reverberated across the quiet hallway.
I arrived at the spiral staircase and went down. I tried clenching my hand to calm myself down since I was scared, but it didn't work. Upon reaching the bottom, numerous servants greeted me. A large wooden door had men and women queued up in front of it. With respect, every servant bowed as I approached the door.
"Greetings young master" My sight was greeted by the same butler I had seen before I passed out. I followed him inside when he had opened the door. I entered the space. A big table was covered with a tablecloth that was entirely white. Various opulent meals graced the top of the table.
Staring at the meal, I momentarily forgot that there were other people in the room. My stomach growled, wanting to sample the dish in front of me.
But my thoughts stopped. Anger and terror surged through me as I digested the people in front of me. I glanced across at the man on the opposite side of the table. There sat a man who appeared to be in his mid-thirties. Black hair, a little bit lengthy. identically crimson eyes. His muscles were almost hidden by his clothing, giving him an almost overwhelming figure.
He pivoted his head to look at me. My heart felt icy. My mouth tightened, trying to stifle whatever unpleasant feelings I was experiencing at the moment. My father is this man sat before me.
I noticed two more figures as I looked over his shoulder. One woman and one man. The man resembled my father almost exactly, but he appeared younger and had somewhat longer hair. He is my older brother Damien . The woman next to him. Her long, black hair fell like a cascade down her back. icy blue eyes that seemed to be able to see through everything. This woman is Amelia, my elder sister.
They both stopped eating immediately and gave me a mildly shocked but slightly amused look in their eyes.
I moved forward, attempting to project confidence while masking the uneasiness that was gnawing at the back of my mind. To be honest, Lucas's feelings were so strong that I was unable to handle them. But I realised that I had to do something. Action to avoid embarrassing myself as well as to cease allowing his feelings to control me and impair my ability to think clearly.
