Chapter 41 - Chapter 11: The Pregnancy

Months had passed since their honeymoon, and Tatiana and Samuel had settled into the rhythm of married life. They had their ups and downs, but their love only grew stronger. However, one morning changed everything.

Tatiana woke up feeling slightly off. She brushed it off as just another busy day catching up with her, but as the weeks passed, the nausea didn't go away, and she started to notice other changes in her body. Her usual energy wasn't quite there, and Samuel, ever observant, had begun to worry.

One afternoon, after work, Tatiana found herself alone in their apartment. She sat in the bathroom, staring at the small pregnancy test she'd bought earlier that day, her heart pounding in her chest. She didn't know what to expect—was she ready for this? Was he ready for this? The uncertainty gnawed at her, but there was only one way to find out.

She held her breath, watching as the test revealed the two lines she both feared and longed for. Tatiana was pregnant.

For a long moment, she sat there in silence, her hands shaking slightly. Her mind raced with emotions—excitement, fear, love, and anticipation all tangled together. They had talked about starting a family one day, but it had always felt like something far off in the future, a distant dream. And now, it was real.

Tatiana knew she couldn't keep this to herself for long. That evening, when Samuel returned home, she could hardly contain her nervous energy. As they sat down to dinner, her hands fidgeted with her fork, her heart racing.

"Tatiana, you've been acting strange lately. What's going on?" Samuel asked, concern evident in his voice.

She looked up at him, her eyes wide with a mixture of excitement and uncertainty. Taking a deep breath, she blurted out, "I'm pregnant, Samuel."

For a moment, time seemed to freeze. Samuel's expression shifted from confusion to shock as the words registered. His fork clattered to his plate as he sat back in his chair, processing the news. His usual calm demeanor faltered as a thousand thoughts seemed to flash through his mind.

"You're… pregnant?" he repeated, his voice quiet, almost in disbelief.

Tatiana nodded, watching him closely. "Yes. I found out today. I wasn't sure at first, but now I am."

Silence filled the room as Samuel absorbed the news. Finally, a slow smile spread across his face—a smile so full of love and warmth that Tatiana's heart melted. He stood up and walked around the table, pulling her into his arms.

"I can't believe it," he whispered, his voice full of awe. "We're going to be parents."

Tears welled up in Tatiana's eyes as she hugged him tightly, feeling a sense of relief wash over her. This moment, this embrace, was everything she needed. Samuel's acceptance and joy were palpable, and she knew, deep down, that they were ready for this new chapter in their lives.

The months that followed were a whirlwind. Tatiana's body changed in ways she had never imagined, and Samuel, ever the supportive husband, was by her side every step of the way. He accompanied her to doctor's appointments, helped her with her cravings, and read every book he could find on fatherhood. He was nervous, of course—his introverted nature made the idea of becoming a father feel overwhelming at times—but he was committed.

Tatiana's pregnancy wasn't always easy. The nausea in the early months was tough, and there were days when she felt like she had no control over her emotions or body. But despite the challenges, she loved knowing that a new life was growing inside her. Each little flutter she felt, every kick, brought her closer to their baby.

As they prepared the nursery together, painting the walls a soft shade of yellow and setting up the crib, Tatiana felt a deep sense of anticipation. It was strange to think that soon, their quiet home would be filled with the sounds of a baby. She and Samuel talked endlessly about names, wondering what their child would be like. Would they take after Samuel's quiet nature, or would they inherit Tatiana's bold, outgoing energy?

In the final months, Tatiana's belly grew larger, and the reality of parenthood sank in. Samuel grew more protective, often placing a gentle hand on her belly, his expression full of wonder every time their baby kicked.

"We're really doing this," Tatiana said one night as they lay in bed, her head resting on Samuel's chest.

"Yeah," Samuel whispered, his hand resting on her belly. "We are."
