Central Magic Academy.
The name magic signifies that, humanity has learned to control mana eventually.
From elementary to high school, students are taught various techniques to use mana along with the available technology.
But, from university onwards, students can choose their own path, either they want to go on the path of combat and become a part of the magic special force, or they choose the normal path of a normal job.
You might ask, whom does this magic special force fight with?
The concept of aliens, has now become reality.
They appear out of some kind of teleportation portal occasionally, and cause severe damage to both property and life.
Coincidentally, they are also able to use magic, hence there is a special combat force established to deal with such kind of situations.
As I walked towards the auditorium, along with Selena and this new teacher, there was a thing that was on my mind.
How the fuck did Selena know about my band-aid strip being a fake?
In the past, during middle school, I used to pull these kinds of tricks to bunk classes all the time, and each time, Selena would rattle me out to the teachers.
But, she could never find out about the tricks I used, and I would get away from the teachers with just an explanation.
Then how did she.....?
Wait, Selena said something about some skill, to that new teacher.
And from the conversation I had with that teacher...I can see where this is going.
Whatever that maybe, I fucking hate that bitch.
Just being around her annoys me.
Well, whatever.
After entering the auditorium, the three of us took our respective places.
I looked around a bit and immediately found out my one and only friend in this academy.
He was seated at the back, conveniently, and there was an empty seat beside him.
I am guessing that he took the duty of keeping a seat at the back, empty for me, knowing that I would be late.
"Yo."
I patted on his back and took the seat beside him.
"Where the hell were you, Kai?", he asked noticing me.
Wilhelm Frost.
My only friend.
He is not from a noble background, but his family is a bit rich due to their business of magic weapons' supplies.
"I was planning to skip the ceremony. But that Selena bitch dragged me here with a teacher.", I replied.
"The heck is that? Anyway, it's good that you are here. Something crazy is going on!", he exclaimed.
I leaned back in my seat to observe what exactly was going on inside the auditorium.
"Look at those chicks on the front row!" Wilhelm said pointing towards the stage.
I looked at where he was pointing and....
Huh?
Elves?
Or is it cosplay?
Sure enough, there were ten tall, elegant figures sitting among the humans—elves.
Their pointed ears and otherworldly beauty made them stand out like a sore thumb among the rest of the students.
They looked calm, almost regal, with their silver hair cascading over their shoulders.
According to the vague explanation from Wilhelm, I figured that my hypothesis was correct.
Due to the current abnormal increase in the appearance of those teleportation portals, heavy damage has been done to various regions all over the solar system, which includes Central Mars too.
Usually students are given a choice for their career only at the level of university, but because of those recent disasters, a new curriculum involving compulsory training for combat has been introduced from high school.
Our batch is the experimental one.
But, why are there elves here?
They are generally a reserved group of species, living deep inside some parts of the northern mountains, as per our records.
Humans have established communication with them, but due to their attachment with the forest, they refused to get involved with human activities of making buildings and such all together.
However, in the recent disasters, a part of the northern mountains was affected, which caused the displacement of all the elves living there, into human territory.
Our government, or more specifically, the monarch of Central Mars, has assigned a part of land in Central Mars to the refugees.
After talking with the chief of the displaced elves, the monarch decided upon a new curriculum to train young minds about different combat techniques, so that they would be able to fight such disasters in future.
"So basically, we, children, are turned into soldiers, and we can't even refuse." I smirked on our current situation.
"Leave that dude! Aren't those elves freaking gorgeous?"
It seemed like this bastard had his attention somewhere else.
There are 5 female and 5 male elves, as far as I can see.
As they were seated with their back to us, I couldn't take a good look, but from this distance too, they sure looked quite gorgeous and radiant to me.
Keeping that matter aside, there was one important thing that I needed to notice.
A skill system with a status window.
In this entrance ceremony itself, all the 100 human students along with those 10 elven students are required to go inside a cabin on the left side of the stage to get examined completely.
After that they would receive a status window, displaying one's strength, agility, endurance, mana, intelligence and luck.
Like a fucking ancient RPG game.
And, every students would receive a set of skills based on their own aptitude and capabilities.
That meant, Selena had already received her skills, as she has already been examined first.
The process was still ongoing.
They were calling out names one by one.
Apparently, the principal had already given a thorough explanation about the mechanism of skills and the status window.
It seems like a combat type skill related to any of the weapons or related to magic is considered a high rank skill.
Moreover, along with the skills, students were assigned classes too, based on the skills they got.
I don't know in which order the students were called out though.
So, I just waited for my name call.
"Wilhelm Frost", said the instructor aloud.
"Wish me luck, Kai." He said while going forward with an usual smile on his face.
"Yeah. Show 'em what you've got."

9 : 20 AM
After the students got their skill set, it was up to them to either reveal it to others or not.
I personally believe that not revealing them would be better, but there might be activities in which we have to work in a team, so at that time, knowing everyone's skills would be better.
Just as I saw Wilhelm coming out from that cabin with an even more smiley face, they called my name.
"Kai Rayleigh."
I quietly went inside the cabin and decided to ask about Wilhelm's skills after mine is over.
"Sit on this.", the instructor told me to sit on a large metallic chair, maybe there were sensors on it.
And then, he put a cap type clothing to cover my head part.
After a few seconds, a large holographic panel was lit up in front of me.
At that time, I just realized that, this fucking shit of panel can decide my whole life.
Because, even if I wanted a normal job, there might be a chance, our whole batch of students would be added to the magic special force, if this experiment is successful.
Then, a bit of flickering on the panel, and my status opened up, with all the stats.
