Chapter 38 - Kingdom of Living III - Part 3

***

Zombies started coming from the dense forest. Some were running, some were walking, and some were Class F, slowly walking toward the destroyed buildings. This was no horde that came from the forest. It was a swarm, something more sinister and deadly than any regular horde. This swarm had more than ten thousand zombies, which is the maximum capacity of a zombie horde. This whole swarm was no joke for anyone and no easy task to accomplish.

"Holy fuck, there's a lot of Z's!" says the pilot of a helicopter nearby the swarm.

A helicopter is flying at a high altitude near the swarm, with two machine gunners on the sides, ready to start the massacre. This is the only helicopter sent from the ship that came earlier today, which was once known as Kagoshima. It only has a pilot, a co-pilot, and two machine gunners. One of the fighters using the machine gunner is a soldier sent to aid a battalion called "Fishes of Salvation.".

"We'll shoot?" asks a masked fighter to the pilot controlling the machine gun's left side, with a bad accent.

"Yes," responds the soldier in broken English, which sounds Chinese. "Only the F's. The rest will have to be taken care of by the people down below."

"Alright."

In a few seconds, the machine guns start blazing from the helicopter, bullets flying from the guns into the class F's and the regular zombies that surround these things. Other zombies heard the aircraft, stopped walking, turned around,d and walked toward the plane. At the same time, others haven't stopped and continue on their way to the buildings where black smoke is rising in the air. It is believed that many zombie humans who are infected with the Z virus will start to lose their hearing, seeking, and speaking ability, but their smell will still function like normal. That is why about 20% of the zombies stopped, turned around, and walked toward where the helicopter flies at about five thousand feet.

The soldier that has one of the machine gunners manages to kill a Class F zombie by shooting the head for three seconds, leaving nothing out of the head of the creature. When the body of class F has fallen, three zombies quickly fall to their knees and eat the meat and the blood that is dripping from that zombie. The machine gunner saw this but didn't care and continued his task. Soon, another Class F perishes, then another one, and before he could kill a fourth one, a small boulder flies toward them, but the boulder manages only to ascend four thousand or so feet and fall back into the swarm, killing two zombies who were looking in awe at the helicopter.

"Class F almost downed us!" the fighter on the machine gun yells.

"I saw it." says the pilot. "In the forest."

The fighter sees the Class F zombie, who is preparing to take another boulder with his muscular physique and the strength of a bulldozer. But before he is about to take the boulder, it is penetrated by many bullets, destroying his muscular back, shoulders, and the back of his head. Class F has fallen to his knees, and his remaining body is on the cold ground, where five zombies have stopped and eaten the remains.

"Good shot." compliments the Chinese soldier at the fighter.

"Thanks." says the fighter. "Now. Let's keep going."

After a few minutes, the swarm of zombies makes its way into the city, where the fighters must do their thing. With their limited equipment, they must eliminate as many Z'Zs as possible when they have a certain amount of ammunition. The fighter squads are all placed on strategic points and proceed to kill as many zombies as possible, especially the fast ones b, because the slower ones will be dealt with later.

The Shi Huang squad shot the fast zombies with their limited arsenal for about five minutes. When all five ran out of ammunition, they fled the market's rooftop and ran toward the outpost. They dealt with zombies nearby by smashing their heads or incapacitating them with their melee weapons, equipped with machines.

A few minutes later, three squadrons arrive back at the outpost, from these three squads there's also Shi Huang squad, who hasn't last a man, unlike the other two squads, where one fighter has died. Shi Huang's squad and the two other squads observe the remaining fighters preparing their defensive line. They see cars that have been placed as blockages with spikes on their sides or anything sharp to impale the zombies on them, sentry turrets have been installed to shoot the zombies, and drones with shotguns are flying in the sky, waiting for the moment to shoot down the zombies, two robotics dogs with turrets who are walking around and waiting for the zombie's arrival, three tanks, model Type 90, waiting for the right moment where they'll shoot down the nearby buildings. This whole defense line is something the fighters from Shi Huang have never seen.

"We've gone for an hour!" says Li Kay, shocked after he saw a robotic dog walking around. "Where the hell did they pull this off?"

"The Organization always had this type of equipment," Ri Ku runs to his squad, where the other fighters have gathered. "But now they decided to use it to enforce the protection of the outposts."

"Where were these when we needed them at the beginning?!"

"It's better they decided to use it now," says Yu Tong. "Still fishy. But glad they use it now."

In addition to the tanks, two helicopters were approaching the area, along with robots with turrets, sentry guns installed around the area to kill the zombies, walls of cars, and drones with shotguns. They did not expect to see an Owitzer modern, an M777, which three fighters were also using. Many rockets were lying around to deal with the masses of zombies that came to their outpost.

"Was this on the ship?" asks Ahmed to one of the fighters that controls the howitzers.

"Yes." responds the fighter to Ahmed.

"I didn't see it there."

"Remember the locked area of the ship?" another fighter at Ahmed asks.

"Yes," responds Ahmed.

"There we kept the howitzer and these gadgets."

"There?" asks Ri Ku. "But… But how?"

"The Organization gave it to us before we were leaving Thailand."

"But that was three days ago," says Ahmed. "You mean to tell us that the Organization just gave this to us when we fled Thailand but did not give it to us earlier when we needed it?"

"Yes," says the fighter. "Now, guys," he says, pointing at the zombies starting to appear in the area. "We'll discuss this later. Right now, you better get in position and go to phase 2 of Order 9."

Shi Huang Squad wanted to know more about this, but they had to get to their position and start working. The group walked to an installed tent in the parking lot, where a soldier gave them something they did not expect: a rocket launcher for Ri Ku and assault rifles for the other fighters.

"I don't know how to use this," Ri Ku says to the person who handed him the rocket launcher.

"It's just like in movies," says the person. But be careful where you aim. I don't want a blockage to fall."

This area has about five car walls, all containing heavy vehicles such as trucks, trailers, buses, and even construction equipment. These walls are about 4 meters high and 5 meters long. Thanks to the fighters and survivors in the Mall, they were built quickly. These walls are small but still impressive for a handful of people who built them with equipment like this in just an hour.

The first zombies come, and they all walk through the spikes of the walls. Some of these zombies who impaled themselves were still moving, handling their curly screams. Other zombies have used the corpses of their dead comrades to climb the walls but were soon shot down by the snipers installed on the rooftop of the Mall. There are also snippers, but only two snipers from the old Alpine Squad. One by one, the zombies who were trying to climb the walls were put down, falling to their bodies on the road and staying there for good.

Shi Huang Squad is dealing like the other fighters with the zombies that are breaking inside the zone, those that pass the blockages are put down by the fighters who are shooting them from the distance with their assault rifles, shotguns and pistols. Yu Tong shot a zombie from fifty meters away with her assault rifle; then he hit a zombie who jumped over the blockage, managing to land a shot into the zombie's head, which kills him instantly in the air, landing with his face on the cold ground. More zombies start to avoid the blockage in front of them, but the dozens of fighters, helicopters, robot dogs, and sentry turrets quickly gun them down. The fighters continue their ferocious fight for over an hour without a break.
