"There, that was the last one!" Lucian wiped the imaginary sweat from his forehead, happy that his work was finally over.
'Demons don't sweat…'
It took a bit of time, but there it was, its transmitter tower embedded in the building's concrete, small tentacles spreading out in a similar way to roots, improving the tower's fixation on the building.
In addition to this, there were ninety-nine others, totaling one hundred towers. All strategically placed to ensure range while avoiding energy loss as much as possible.
"That was tiring, I can't wait for the day when it will be possible to accomplish this transmission task through the infinite castle," he sighed, lamenting the difficulty of planning a foolproof plan.
'Wait, I think calling it a foolproof plan might attract negative karma… I'll call it a flawless plan.'
So he rejoiced in his genius, of course, without exchanging "r" for "w".
"Now I will return to my humble abode and have my rest."
After saying these words, he went through a door and returned to his castle, where he found Ryoko and Hinami sitting around a table facing Nakime.
'Aren't you done with that yet?' He walked over, "Is there a problem?"
"No," Nakime replied calmly.
"Yes!" However, Ryoko and Hinami had a completely opposite reaction, "I would say that Miss Nakime is not the most suitable person to give a presentation about demons."
"Why not?" Lucian asked confused, until then he was sure that with Nakime's experience explaining such things would be easy, along with the fact that she presents the information in a direct and concise way.
"Her explanations are… too short." Ryoko hesitated, before finally using a euphemism about the situation, "Practically nothing has been explained so far."
Even though she didn't want to complain right away, she still needed to say it, otherwise she would end up not understanding anything.
"… Hmm… I guess that makes sense." Lucian paused to think, "Maybe Nakime really is too concise, almost to the point of not explaining anything that wasn't asked."
"Well… Infinite Castle, it's an infinite dimension. We have Kokushibo, Akaza, Gyuutaro and Daki as Upper Moons and main combat capacity, Nakime is the castle manager, sometimes also taking care of logistical issues. Mitsuri is powerful and will soon be placed as Upper Moon, Shinobu is in the same situation, but with the addition of her medical skills. Okay, it's over!"
"Is that all?" Ryoko asked, seeing that there were still many things missing. When one joins an organization, there are usually a number of procedures, rules, notices, distribution of duties, and perhaps training.
But all they had to present was "that person fights, that person does that" and that was it?
"The rest of the things you can learn later."
Yes, the administration is a little weak, but nobody cared about that or had any intention of changing anything.
"Leaving that aside, now I will connect them to your rooms, this will allow you to open a door to them without needing to communicate with Nakime." Lucian changed the subject, continuing what he had mentioned before leaving.
"Alright, please then." Ryoko nodded, such a thing would indeed be of high convenience – having a key, which ends up granting the ability to move around freely.
"Reach out your hand." He ordered, then holding Ryoko's hand, his blood began to flow, leaving his body and entering hers through her pores, before slowly engraving a symbol into her muscles and blood vessels.
Blood is important to all creatures, and serves as a source of power for demons. Therefore, blood can be used to transfer power, even if it is a completely insignificant part of said power.
Granting access to a single room in the castle falls into this application category.
"Did it hurt?" he asked to confirm, after all, this was the first time he had tried to do this to a being that wasn't a demon.
"Just a little burning, but why a circle?" She signed that she was fine, before expressing her curiosity.
"I haven't thought of a cool symbol yet, so it'll just be a circle for now," Lucian explained as he also prepared a key for Hinami, at the same time ensuring that there was no deep meaning to the circle that had been drawn.
Not everything needs a logical and reasonable reason, especially for a symbol… it just needs to be cool enough. Perhaps that is the only real need a symbol has.
"So casual?" Ryoko seemed a little speechless at how simply he was treating a matter that would be of great importance to many.
"That's just how he is," commented Nakime.
"Efficient?" Lucian looked at her, trying to confirm which quality she was referring to.
"No. Lazy." She immediately contradicted his expectations, several scenes passing through her mind, where Lucian ended up delegating even the simplest tasks to be done, and of course, everyone obeyed because he was the boss.
Although Nakime wasn't bothered by it, the truth was still something that needed to be said and unlike her previous boss, she wouldn't die for saying it.
'I have to take advantage of at least a little of this new freedom of expression.'
"I won't disagree with you, I'll even give you the task of monitoring the movements of the CCG and Aogiri Tree." Lucian smiled, not at all bothered by being called lazy, quite the opposite, being able to remain lazy is something that makes him very happy.
"Ryoko, Hinami, if you want to receive training, just talk to Kokushibo, he has great teaching skills."
"Understood."
"And now that everything is settled, I'm going to go to sleep." Even though Lucian no longer needed to sleep, it was still a very pleasurable activity – unfortunately, when he was human he didn't have time to sleep as much as he would have liked.
Which can be considered ironic, after all, when he needed to sleep he ended up not being able to and now that he doesn't need to, he finally has the time he needs to do so.
Moving to his room, he soon threw himself onto the bed and covered himself with his blanket, his head sinking slightly into the pillow, as did his body into the bed, and this gave him an enveloping, soft and warm sensation.
His blanket felt like the sweet embrace of one of his beloveds, slowly warming him to a comfortable temperature. Sinking into his laziness, his thoughts slowly became hazy and his eyes grew heavy.
And before long, he was fast asleep, getting the most rest possible.
...
"That's performance, I think I broke my record!" Lucian celebrated, looking at the clock that showed twenty-one hours and a few minutes.
It was probably the first time he had slept for so many hours in a row, bringing a different kind of rest to his mind. ((don't try this at home, it won't work))
"Are you finally awake?" Daki asked, as he shifted slightly to get more comfortable.
"Yes, I slept wonderfully, and you?" he said, stretching to stretch his joints. As for why and when Daki had joined him, that didn't really matter.
"I didn't sleep, I just laid down and relaxed," Daki replied, while also offering a "good morning" hug.
Although the concept of day and night doesn't really apply to those inside the infinite castle.
"Well, time to go out and do my chores."
