Chapter 19 - Chapter 19

An alarm rang through the dimly lit room, the phone buzzed and the screen came on with a faint glow due to being flipped over. Alaric opened one of his eyes, the eye-rolling over to his flipped phone. He grabbed it and switched the alarm off. He checked the date, and today was the day. He let out a breath and rose to his feet. With a short stretch, he pulled his currents back and the sun beamed through to his room. He let out a short breath and turned to start his morning routine.

He stepped out of the shower, a towel wrapped around his body, water dripping from his body. He walked in front of the mirror and began to brush his teeth. His thoughts began to wander, to his first ever class at Ascendant Arcane Academy. Physical Training, something he relies on due to his lack of magic skills. But after that, was a magical skill-based. While he still didn't have a lot, thanks to the end of his exam, he gained a few more skills that he could use for this class. Alaric spat out the water and began to dry his hair. It was his first day and he didn't know what to expect. Nothing too crazy could happen on the first day he thought.

After getting his uniform on, his bag ready, and his cloud ride, he was ready to depart for his class. He sat on top of Sky and the two floated towards the main building. Alaric took a quick glance at his schedule. "First up, Physical Training." Next to the class were the rooms that it would be taking place in. He looked forward and pointed ahead, Sky picking up its speed.

Alaric and Sky zoomed through the crowd of people, but being careful enough to not knock anyone off balance. According to his schedule, the physical training class takes place in a room on the second floor. He wonders what the classroom would look like, he didn't mention it being a gym room or a weight room even. Maybe they'll switch between this classroom and a gym? Alaric simply shrugged and continued on his way toward the classroom.

Sky slowly came to a stop outside of the room, and Alaric grabbed the handle and swung it open. Inside was a room larger than he could've imagined. At the front was much more like your traditional classroom, desk, and chairs were arranged in front of a large whiteboard. A few students sat in these seats, their eyes on Alaric. The boy turned his attention towards the back of the classroom. This part was a lot larger than the classroom in front, this part was more like a gym room in school. There were sandbags, large weights, and other equipment. So what Alaric thought, was sorta right, only the two rooms were now combined into one large classroom gym! It certainly made things better and easier to handle. "Yo Alaric!" He heard a voice call out his name, and he turned toward the front of the classroom. There, a boy with blonde hair tied into a short ponytail. This boy was Aluxio, the guy he worked with during his entrance exam. And next to him was a large man, an axe strapped to his back. He was someone Alaric couldn't forget, Faxon, another guy he worked with during his entrance exam. Alaric felt a sudden smile across his face. He moved closer, "Hey guys." He said, taking a seat next to Aluxio. "It's been a while, how've you both been?" He wondered as Aluxio leaned back in his chair, "I've been great, I've been getting a bit stronger." Alaric nodded, he can't lie, he does wonder how much stronger the two of them have become, though it's probably not much due to training circumstances. Alaric simply nodded and turned to Faxon, "It's nice to see you as well Faxon," Alaric folded his arms, "I'm guessing you've been keeping up with training?" Faxon looked down at the white hair boy. Without saying a word, he gave a simple nod and turned his attention towards the front. With an awkward laugh, Alaric looked down, embarrassed. Aluxio let out a short laugh, "Guess he's not in the mood for talking,"

The door opened a few more times, and other students came in and took their seats. Alaric watched as more and more students came in, he was waiting for when the teacher eventually came, he wondered who they were and what kind of system they used. His schedule didn't tell him who the teacher was for his class, and even if it did, he probably wouldn't recognize them either way. When it comes to prominent figures in this world, there are not many he really knows of, not unless they are the strongest of them all. But the strongest person wasn't a physical fighter, he was more of a magic user who relied on long-range attacks and magic combat. Alaric knew that this wasn't the route he would be on, not without more magic skills. Even then, his Monkey King occupation gives him a boost to his physical stats, so a more physical fighter would be his route. This is why he wonders who will be his teacher, and will they be able to push him to become strong.

After what felt like forever, the door bursts open, gaining the attention of everyone in the room. The person who came in, was a large barbaric like man, with armor pieces on his body and a club strapped to his hip. His hair and beard were wild and unkept, his gold eyes scanned the room. A large smile grew on his face, "Man what a class!" He shouted as he walked further in and folded his arms in front of the whiteboard. Alaric inspected him carefully. His aura radiated a laid-back and carefree energy. Just by looking at him, Alaric couldn't really judge his strength. He leaned back slightly in his chair, but if he was a teacher for this class, he had to be strong. The barbaric man continued to look around the room, "Good morning Students! Welcome to Physical Training Class!" He exclaimed as slammed his fist against the whiteboard behind him, causing a projector to fall down. The entire room shook at the power of the punch, Alaric's expression showed one of awe. The man turned towards the projector and the screen came to light with a slideshow. "In this class, I'll be helping you build muscle! At the end of the year, you'll be swinging objects and things way bigger than yourself!" He explained as the slideshow shifted to one of a sprite of the barbaric man lifting giant pieces of oak wood. Alaric looked at himself, giving a frown. Well, he could already lift things much bigger than him. He wonders how much physical strength he can get… "And, I would like the three strongest students to come up. Stand when I call your name." He reached for a slip of paper on his hip next to the club. His eyes scanned it and looked up, "Faxon Warswift." Alaric glanced over, as the large man stood and walked towards the front. Alaric understood why he was called, no one in this class looked like they could compare to Faxon's raw strength, well, no one besides this teacher.

"You display great strength during your second and third exams. You were able to perform feats that most students do without using your strength boost skill." Faxon stood at the front of the class with his arms behind his back. The teacher turned towards the rest of the students, "Next up, Alaric Vandale." The white hair boy looked a bit shocked but hopped on Sky and flew towards the front of the class, heat rising to his cheeks due to a bit of embarrassment, he still wasn't used to having so much attention on him. "The amount of physical strength you showed during your second exam was phenomenal! Sure it was boosted thanks to your skills but even so, it was still impressive!" Alaric took his spot next to Faxon and waited to see who the third and final person was who showed good physical strength. "And last but not least, Avon Hellfang." Alaric looked around, and someone stood. A young man with dark blonde hair, and intimating red eyes walked up, and Alaric gave a rather shocked expression. 'Seriously?!' It was that fire guy that he fought in the second stage of the exam. He's physically strong?! "The strength you displayed during the final stage was exceptional! Impressive from someone so slim." The blonde stood next to Alaric, with a slight smirk on his face. Alaric rolled his eyes and looked back towards the teacher.

"You three are the physically strongest in this class, and I want you three to be an example for the class. I want you three to have a free-for-all fight! But, no using magic or weapons, this is our only classroom!" Alaric glanced at the other two, he has to fight them? With no magic…? He grabbed his stomach, the nervousness causing it to turn. "Let's move to the back and we can get started!"

The three began to move to the back of the room towards the gym area, whispers and cheers rippling through the room. Some students were even placing bets on who would win this free-for-all. Alaric had his hand to his chin, thinking of ways he could possibly win this seemingly unwinnable fight for him. 'Faxon raw strength exceeds mine, he could probably crush me with one blow! And Avon…I don't know how he fights without magic so he's going to be unpredictable…' Alaric thought as he turned towards Faxon, his expression unreadable. 'Faxon, he's all power, which means he's probably not as fast as me or Avon…But if he catches me, it'll be over…' Students behind them began to stand, hoping to get a better view of the incoming brawl.

Once everyone was in place, the teacher smirked and clapped his hands, "Alright, remember, no magic and no weapons. I want to see what you have with raw strength alone." Alaric got in a stance, his mind racing with different strategies. Faxon rolled his shoulders, his frame towering over the other two fighters, and Avon cracked his knuckles and ready himself in a stance.

"And…Begin!!"
