Chereads / Was I SERIOUSLY Reincarnated as a Mimic??? / Chapter 10 - The Queen of Vampires Awakens

Chapter 10 - The Queen of Vampires Awakens

The cocoon continued to crack apart, and silver hair seeped through said cracks. I took a few steps back, grasping the hilt of my sword in preparation. The cracks grew larger and larger until the entire cocoon burst open, and a person fell out of it onto the floor. It appeared to be a woman, but I couldn't make out any features as she fell facing the other way. Steam rose from her body as she laid there, her only movements were the rise and fall of air entering her lungs.

Magic Guide, who is she?

NOTICE: Her aura is an exact match for the remnants left on the corpse of the Overlord of this labyrinth.

That's impossible! The skeleton was right there, the Overlord is definitely dead. I can verify that myself.

The woman began to stir and move around, as if coming out of a deep slumber. She shifted onto her knees, facing me where I could make out her features better. She was young, appearing to be about twenty in age with flowing silver hair that was slightly shorter than my own in this form. Her face was incredibly beautiful, however she was...

SHIT! NAKED!

I quickly turned around, feeling my face flushed. This was the first time I'd seen a woman naked after all, and it was NOT in a way I had expected. I removed my cloak and tossed it towards her, hoping she would put it on.

"There, have some clothes."

I heard the rubbing of cloth for a brief moment, and when the sound dissipated I turned back around. As I'd hoped she was kneeling on the floor, wrapped up in the cloak. It was then she opened her eyes too look at me. They were a beautiful blue like the sky on a sunny day, and in combination with her flowing silver hair she was stunning.

"I appreciate your kindness. Now, just who are you and why are you here?"

The question caught me off guard, I didn't quite know who I was in this world yet.

"My name is Dentes, I woke up in this labyrith two months ago with no knowledge of this world. The only reason I am in this room right now is because I was looking for a way out of this hell-hole."

"A hell-hole huh? Well I'm sure it's not that far off now, after all I have been asleep for some time now. How long has it been since my last body was killed? Fourty- no fifty years?"

"I answered you, now its your turn. Who are you and why were you in that cocoon?"

"I guess the world has forgotten about me huh? Then I shall honor you with my name mortal!"

She stood up, still wrapped in the cloak I had given her. She pointed her finger and spoke proudly.

"I am the Overlord of the Altan Mountain Labyrinth, and the Queen of Vampires! My name is Silvia Bloodraven, bask in my overwhelming power!"

"I hate to break it to you, but that cloak isn't really covering much when you move like that."

She blushed and wrapped herself back up in the cloak, embarassed of what I had seen.

For being the so-called "Queen of Vampires" she acts super childish. I guess vampires aren't all balding dudes who live in castles like Dracula.

"If you are the Overlord, how are you alive? I saw your skeleton on the throne, you were VERY dead."

"The answer to that is simple, it's because all Overlords have an ace-in-the-hole. When we are within the bounds of our labyrith, we are linked to the Cocoon of Rebirth. It can only be used once, however at the moment of death my soul was transported out of my body and into the cocoon where this new body would take form after a time. Theres just one problem... MY BOOBS ARE WAY TOO SMALL!"

Really?!?! That's your number one priority right now?!?!

"In my old body I could have any man falling over me within moments! I can't believe this!"

She continued ranting but I wasn't paying attention, I was lost in thought.

So an Overlord basically gets a second chance if they die in their labyrith. That explains why she's still alive after all this time, and why no one has heard from her in half of a century. This basically confirms my suspicions about the Holy Church, the demons would know about Silvia's rebirth ability so they wouldn't seek revenge. However if the Church killed Altan's father, if they can't turn him into a pawn they might just kill him too. As much as I hate it, I might have to get involved in the politics of this world. On the bright side, currying favor with the king means I'll be better off.

"Are you even listening to me? This is a tragedy!!"

"Yeah, Yeah, I get it. So, do you know how to get out of here?"

"The only way out is with my transposition spell that can bring us to the entrance. I don't plan on leaving my home though, so tough luck"

"Your home is overrun with Soulless monsters, probably because you were gone for fifty years."

"UGH DAMN IT! Well it looks like I have no choice. Turn around I need to find some clothes."

I complied and I felt her place my cloak on my shoulder followed by the creaking of a cabinet door.

"Why are you just going along with this? And why are you being so friendly?"

"You have NO idea what spending fifty years alone will do to a person, you're a human after all. Even before my old body was killed by that stuck up brat of a king and his Church escort, I had spent over a hundred years here with no one except that stupid minotaur to keep me company. Don't think I'm doing this for you, I just think you're entertaining is all. You DID manage to fight your way here after all."

"Human, huh? Not exactly correct, but I can see the confusion."

I turned around and lifted up my palm, using Flesh Change to open up a mouth on my hand. She put on a militaristic suit jacket and looked up, it seemed that her clothing style was very similar to my old world. She wore a grey suit, darker than her silver hair yet not quite black with golden buttons adorning the front. It had an embroidered insignia on the breast pocket and golden rank symbols on the top of the shoulder from some unknown military.

"Oh-hoh! You're more interesting than I'd initially thought? So, what are you a Doppelganger?"

"Not quite, honestly I'm just a mimic."

I say this as I let out a small chuckle and seal

up the mouth-hand.

"You must be a Unique monster then, interesting. Well now that I know what you are, could you kindly hand over my dagger? I'd rather not leave here vulnerable."

I hesitated for a moment before reluctantly handing the dagger over to Silvia. I removed the sheathe from my back and attached it to the left side of my belt instead, as the dagger was no longer there.

Honestly that's a more comfortable place for the sword anyway.

While preparing to leave I swapped my cloak for a trench coat, for no other reason besides I thought it would look cooler. By no means did I want to be the center of attention but I wanted to stand out at least, a far cry from my previous life of living in the background. Before we left the dungeon however, I wanted to get a better grasp on what skills I had and what they did.

Hey Magic Guide, can you summarize all of my skills and what they do?

Fantastic, now I know what I can and can't do. That'll be extremely useful once I inevitably get into another fight, maybe I'll try something different next time.

"So Silvia, are you ready to leave this labyrinth? Since you're a vampire doesn't that mean you'll die in direct sunlight?"

"Vampires are not the same thing as ghouls, so no. We are slightly weakened in the daytime yes, but I won't die just from a little sunlight. As a fellow monster I thought you would know that."

I don't know anything about this world remember? I just told you not even ten minutes ago.

"Now, let's get out of here and get some fresh air, hopefully something entertaining will happen."

Silvia began chanting some form of spell and blue magic circles appeared underneath both of our feet. The glow from them continued to intensify until it was blinding, forcing me to close my eyes. A moment later, the glow vanished and I opened my eyes once more to see the world around me. We were standing directly in front of the doors to the labyrinth, and before us stood a dense forest. A light breeze blew on my skin and the setting sun cast a beautiful orange and pink color across the sky. Smoke rose up into the sky a little ways off, the sign of civilization.

"Hey Silvia, what's that smoke from?"

"Oh that? It's probably the town of Cina, it sits right between my labyrinth and the Capital City of Altanvia. It doesn't belong to the church, but Altan's knights come this way every couple weeks to check in on the villagers, earlier if there's trouble. The king cares for his people, or at least the king at the time did. A young man, not even twenty years old at the time of my death."

"I believe he was assasinated, his son is on the throne now."

"Oh hoh? I wonder what kind of leader he is..."

Me too Silvia, hopefully he's just as good of a leader as his father was.

And with that we set off towards the town of Cina, where my first taste of civilization in this new world awaited.
