Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: Three's a Crowd

Bang!

Ye Chen grabbed the head of a zombie with one hand and slammed it against the wall. The zombie immediately stopped struggling and went limp.

Ye Zhu was accustomed to this. She quickly sliced open the zombie's chest with her watermelon knife, searching for a piece of mutated meat. After a moment, she found one, took it out, and threw it into a bag.

Ye Chen glanced out the window and saw that night was falling. He turned and said, "Let's go back."

Ye Zhu nodded obediently.

The two of them left the room together, walked down the corridor to the elevator, and pressed the up button.

**Ding!**

The elevator door opened, and they walked in.

...

After returning to their room, Ye Chen went into the bathroom to clean himself, as usual, while Ye Zhu headed to the kitchen to wash the mutated meat. By the time everything was ready, it was already 7 PM.

Outside, it was pitch dark.

Ye Chen sat at the dining table, watching his sister Ye Zhu bring out the dishes one by one. His heart was filled with warmth—this kind of affection was worth defending with his life!

"We had a good harvest today," Ye Zhu said as she brought out a bowl of soup, filled with chopped mutated meat, about the size of three fists.

Ye Chen's eyes gleamed with a sharp light. "We cleared out the 12th and 13th floors today. In total, there were over 250 zombies. Normally, we would only find about 25 pieces of mutated meat, but you found over 70 pieces. Plus, one of the zombies had a piece of mutated meat the size of a fist!"

Zombies with mutated meat inside them usually only had pieces the size of a finger. It was rare for a zombie to produce a fist-sized piece. Typically, if such a zombie evolved a few more times and developed beast-like instincts, it would likely become a zombie king!

They began to eat.

Most of the food ended up in Ye Chen's mouth. After a long while, both of them had absorbed the energy from the mutated meat, and their bodies were covered in a layer of black sweat.

"Twenty times the strength of a normal person!" Ye Chen clenched his fist, his eyes shining with excitement.

After more than ten days of hunting, his strength had increased from the strength of four people to a terrifying level equivalent to twenty people. Just imagine the impact of concentrating the strength of twenty people into one punch—what kind of power that would be!

As his strength increased, Ye Chen's body also underwent changes. His nails were as sharp as knives, even sharper than a zombie's claws. Even a sturdy door could be torn apart! The membrane on the surface of his skin had also become extremely tough. Even when scratched by a zombie, it only caused a small cut, not enough to injure his muscles or bones.

Of course, with his current strength, the cells in his body had become extremely resilient. His resistance to the virus was far beyond that of ordinary people, so even if he was scratched by a zombie, he wouldn't get infected.

According to Ye Chen's estimation, his current physical attributes were:

- Strength: 1000 kg!

- Speed: 100 meters in 5 seconds!

- Nerve reaction speed: 0.01 seconds!

An average person's nerve reaction speed is around 0.3 seconds. For example, when a hand touches ice, it takes about 0.3 seconds to feel the cold. For a trained goalkeeper, the nerve reaction speed is about 0.1 seconds.

When the nerve reaction speed reaches a certain level, even in a hail of bullets, one could walk calmly, easily dodging bullets. Everything in front of them would appear in slow motion...

Of course, with Ye Chen's current nerve reaction speed, dodging bullets was still not possible...

During these ten days, Ye Zhu also made significant progress, reaching the strength of five people. As long as she practiced her combat skills, it wouldn't be difficult for her to kill zombies on her own.

However, Ye Chen was still uneasy about letting her hunt zombies alone. After all, Ye Zhu's combat skills were still too weak. As soon as a zombie got close, she would panic. Even if she mustered the courage to attack, she would often get scratched by the zombie's claws while killing it, hurting herself as well.

Fortunately, with her physique, as long as the zombie's fangs didn't bite into a blood vessel, she wouldn't get infected.

"Eat up!"

"After eating, go to sleep. We'll continue tomorrow."

...

The next day, fully armed, the two of them arrived at the 11th floor.

The elevator door opened, and just as they were about to step out, they heard a series of roars. A shadow blocked the light, and a bloody stench rushed toward them. Ye Chen's heart tightened, but he quickly reacted and saw that it was a zombie, its face covered in blood. It had clearly eaten many people, and its fingernails were filled with pieces of flesh, emitting a foul odor.

"Die!" Ye Chen's eyes grew cold as he kicked out with immense force. Before the zombie could get close, it was sent flying several meters away, crashing heavily against the wall. Its belly caved in completely as it slumped to the ground. The bloodlust and madness in its eyes not only didn't diminish but intensified. It kept howling, dragging itself toward Ye Chen and Ye Zhu, desperate to reach them.

Ye Chen frowned slightly, walked over, and kicked out again. With a loud bang, the zombie's head exploded, and it collapsed, motionless.

"Dissect it!" Ye Chen said casually, then turned to look around. The light on this floor was dim, most of the doors were damaged, and there were pale bones scattered across the floor. The long corridor was empty, with no sign of any zombies—perhaps they were all hiding in the rooms.

After Ye Zhu finished dissecting the zombie, they walked down the corridor to the first room. The door was half-open, stained with blood, and there were a few strands of black hair on the ground—clearly, a struggle had taken place here.

Ye Chen remained calm as he kicked open the door, only to find the room in disarray, with not a single zombie in sight. Without saying a word, he turned and walked to the second room, kicking open each door and killing the zombies inside...

Until they reached—

Room 28.

A series of frantic footsteps echoed down the corridor, more than one set. With his keen hearing, Ye Chen estimated there were about seven or eight people. He looked up at the corner ahead, where the footsteps were getting closer.

"What's going on?" Ye Zhu asked, her eyes full of caution.

Ye Chen shook his head. Just then, a figure dashed out from around the corner, running for his life. It was a young man, about 1.78 meters tall, with a well-proportioned build, short black hair, and wearing loose black jeans. He was drenched in sweat, panting heavily.

"Help me!" The young man's eyes lit up as he saw Ye Chen and Ye Zhu standing in the corridor. He thought to himself, *Buddha has answered my prayers!* and immediately shouted for help, rushing toward them... only to run right past them, heading for the far end of the corridor.

"Bro, I'll leave these zombies to you," the young man said shamelessly as he ran past, giving Ye Chen an encouraging look, as if to say, "I believe in you."

Ye Chen was momentarily stunned, but by then, the zombies were already upon him. He didn't have time to deal with the black-haired young man. He raised the fire axe in his hand and charged into the group of zombies.

In the hotel's corridors, there were fire cabinets, each containing a fire axe. Ye Chen's watermelon knife had long since become unsuitable, so he switched to this more powerful weapon!

**Slash!**

Ye Chen wielded the 10-plus-pound fire axe as if it were a feather, moving it swiftly to protect himself completely. Every time he swung the axe, it sliced off a large chunk of a zombie's body.

Within a few breaths, the seven or eight zombies lay dead on the ground.

Ye Chen stood amidst the pile of zombie corpses, holding the fire axe, his coarse clothing soaked in blood, looking like a demon.

The black-haired young man, who had run past Ye Chen and Ye Zhu, had initially worried that these two armed strangers wouldn't be able to hold off the zombies. He hadn't run far but instead found an empty room nearby. Just as he was about to call Ye Chen and Ye Zhu to take cover, he turned around and saw Ye Chen slaughtering the zombies.

His mind went blank, as if struck by lightning. The words he had meant to shout got stuck in his throat, and his entire body froze, his expression dazed.

He was utterly stunned.

The zombies, with claws as sharp as knives, like demons themselves, were so easily cut down by this young man, as if they were nothing more than stalks of wheat being harvested...

*Is he even human?*

The young man rubbed his eyes and looked again. There was no doubt—all eight of the zombies that had been chasing him were dead, and their corpses were in terrible condition. Some had been cleaved in half, others had been sliced in two, and some had been severed at the waist.

What left him even more speechless was that the seemingly gentle and obedient girl behind the young man had walked over to the zombie corpses, holding a shiny watermelon knife, and started dissecting them...

The young man who was leaning against the door and vomiting saw the two people walking towards where the zombies had gone. He was stunned for a moment, and then hurriedly shouted, "Two of you, please wait."
