Chapter 4 - Just the beginning

Addison walked inside the halls of a magnificent villa in Barcelona.

And as what Nathaniel told her earlier, it was their father's latest acquisition.

"Where is father?" She asked as she looked at the cathedral ceilings, instantly enamored with her surrounding.

"Who knows? Maybe at some golf course or fishing or hunting," Nathaniel chuckled as he brought Addison's luggage with him.

"Hm, there are no servants here?"

"It's Sunday, father gave them a day off." Nathaniel replied with a smile.

She smiled at him, they might have grown up rich with a lot of influence, but their parents made sure that they knew how to put their feet firmly on the ground.

They were raised to do laundry and wash dishes but one thing that Addison never got used to was to cook.

"Where's my room?" She asked loudly.

"Just choose, there are 20 rooms in the house, 5 master bedrooms, so take your pick." Nathaniel laughed as he opened the doors to a beautiful room that has pool and ocean views.

"Wow!" She exclaimed, "this is gorgeous!"

"Like I told you, it's father's latest acquisition." Nathanie said, ruffling his sister's hair.

She immediately jumped on her bed and just looked at the high ceilings and bright sunlight inside the room.

"When is Dalton coming?" She asked closing her eyes, basking at the beauty that surrounded her.

"I will just give him a call later." Nathaniel replied as he stepped out of the balcony.

"How come no one took this room?" Addison asked.

"Because it's for you." Nathaniel replied, "Before I forget, I have something for you."

"What is it?" She asked.

"It's your black onyx card. Father was supposed to give it to you after mother died but you left." Nathaniel handed it to him.

"How much credit limit?" She asked him, eyeing him warily.

"You can buy an island with that card." Nathaniel replied.

"Father was supposed to give it to you because you ran our business in Tokyo and earned revenue, so that was supposed to be your reward then mother died."

Addison joined her brother at the balcony, enjoying the scenic views that was in front of her. This was such a great way to welcome her back and she does not regret the decisions she made for the past 72 hours although thinking about the alpha made her heart ache a little.

But it was minute, something trivial and unimportant. It's not even worth a sliver of her attention.

What's most important right now is for her to seize the control back in her life and come back like a hurricane, powerful and unstoppable.

---

Ivy walked inside Williams's building. She walked holding her head high, finally relieved that Addison finally left Williams.

She approached the beta secretary and said, "Hi Yara, is your boss there?"

She gave her a small smile, "He is in a bad mood," she warned.

"I know how to calm him down," the omega smirked at her. Ivy knocked before entering.

Williams was sitting down, his face on the palm of his hands.

"Hey, Liam," Ivy said sizing up the alpha.

He looked at her, "Ivy, I spoke to your doctor."

"Oh, why? Is there something wrong?" She asked, sitting at the chair by Williams's desk.

"Addison left me and since your blood transfusion is in three weeks, I sought your doctor's advice," He looked dead serious.

Ivy held her breath, she didn't like where this is going, "We can ask Red Cross."

She said as she tried to reach out to him.

Williams opened his desk drawer and took out an envelope with a few hundred dollars.

"This is your plane ticket to New York," Williams stated.

"Why do I need a plane ticket and money?" She asked in horror.

"Because Dr. Young said that there is a blood bank in Seoul with a lot of AB-, so until you get better, you will stay in New York," Williams said seriously, raking his fingers through his hair.

"But you promised Lucas you would take care of me! Williams, you promised!" Ivy insisted.

Williams stood up and went to the coffee bar and got some coffee, poured it into two cups. He gave Ivy a cup, as he tried to find the words to say.

Ivy sipped her coffee, lost for words. Her plans were being spoiled by this sickness, by the lie so Williama would listen to her every request.

She released sour pheromones, unsure of what to do.

Williams reached out to her and held her hands.

"This is me caring for you, doing the best for you!" He said sincerely.

Ivy doesn't know what to say, because now that Williama is finally free, she is now being sent away because of blood.

"How long do I need to stay there?" She asked.

"Two years. You will be staying at Lucas's old apartment and I will visit you as much as I can," Williama said.

There was no use arguing now because everything was set. The next two years will be the longest two years and for the first time in her life, Ivy lost control.

Williams just left the office.

It was already 8 pm and as much as he wanted to show that he knew what he was doing, the event this morning was something he did not expect.

He just signed the divorce papers and he felt that for the first time in his life, he relinquished control of a situation to his ex-wife.

He scrolled through his phone the moment Ivy left because for sure he had a picture of Addison somewhere.

There has to be because deep in his heart he knew that he failed someone.

When they had the accident, that was the first time he ever felt helpless, frozen, paralyzed and he hated every minute of it.

T/W Mentions of past death

Seeing his best friend pass away in front of his eyes was definitely jarring and it was something he promised himself, not to fail others most especially himself.

He finally found that single picture he had of Addison.

It was a picture taken after their wedding, shot by the court clerk because she felt sorry that no one came to their wedding rites.

So beautiful, Williams thought, most especially seeing Addison in a night dress.

That moment left an imprint in his mind.

She smelled so sweet that day and he felt bad enough that he did not stay behind at the hospital after Addison fainted.

He did not stay behind because Ivy said that she was light-headed and tired and as guilt consumed him every single day, he had to oblige, leaving the emotions he was starting to feel for his wife.

He pressed the elevator door and waited for it to arrive.

The elevator doors opened and he stepped on it with the mellow jazz sounds that played.

He furrowed his brows, trying to remember what Amir told him earlier.

'You don't give a shit about Addison before, why would you care now?' He remembered Amir asking him earlier.

He doesn't even know why he was obsessing over someone he just lost.

Was it because for the first time, he thought he could have everything when he in fact did not?

He could not even hate Addison because the truth of the matter is, he does not even know who she really is.

He stepped out of the elevators and started walking to his car.

His phone started ringing.

"Hello mother," Williams stated.

"We just heard that your ungrateful spouse just left you. Did you allow her to milk us dry? How much money did she take from you?" Serena Montenegro asked.

"Mother, she didn't take anything, in fact, she didn't touch the money I gave her."

"She must have a sugar daddy. She must have replaced you instantaneously without you knowing," She said.

Williams stopped in his tracks, "Mother, I am going to have to call you later, okay?"

"Okay, fine whatever, so what are you going to do with the money she returned?" She asked.

"Mother, I am going to call you later". He said in a clipped tone.

"Okay, call me."

Williams immediately dialed Butler Alex's phone.

"Hello Master Williams?"

"Can you tell me what kind of car Addison left with?" He asked, biting the nail on his pinky.

"Oh, sir, I looked it up, it's a Ferrari Purosangue, it's the first time I have seen such beauty." The butler shared.

"Do you remember who picked her up?" He held his breath.

"She called them Nathaniel and Kael," Butler Alex responded.

"Oh, do you remember if it was Nathaniel Powers?" Williams asked curiously.

"I am not sure, Master Williams," Butler Alex sounded apologetic.

"Don't worry, Alex, you have told me what I needed to find out," Williams responded.

He had to find out who this Nathaniel was. And if maybe it would lead him back to Addison.
