As the scene erupted into confusion and chaos, the royal guards present began trying their best to fire back; however, most couldn't even see the assailants. The situation only worsened when the sound of vehicles rushing toward the palace could be heard, and the secure gate was blasted open by an RPG.
Arias, who was witnessing this scene, turned to Terra and spoke. "Follow me. If you see anyone attack you, don't hesitate to use your powers," he advised before breaking out of cover and raising the tables from the venue into the air, creating a gigantic wall that blocked the sight of the unseen snipers shooting at guests.
Terra stayed close and soon spotted masked, well-armed men rushing onto the scene. Without hesitation, her eyes glowed brightly, and she extended her hands to lift the ground beneath them. Arias then cast a glance their way, causing their bodies to slam down with immense force before the chunks of earth Terra had lifted fell back on them, crushing them in one bloody move.
They didn't stop moving, rushing to their vehicle, which was getting blasted with a constant barrage of bullets. It was then that they saw Mercy using it as cover as she fired back at the attackers without fear, wielding a heavy light machine gun with a long stream of bullets.
"What the fuck took you so long?!" she yelled, her voice barely audible over the constant clash of bullets against Arias's seemingly impenetrable car.
Arias said nothing to Mercy and simply raised numerous nearby cars into the air using telekinesis, chucking them at the attackers. "Get in and get us out of here," he urged. Mercy nodded and jumped into the front, driving away.
A few of the attacking cars that evaded the thrown cars quickly recovered from the distraction and pursued Arias, leaving the royal palace still in chaos.
Back at the airport, Black Canary and Miss Martian were still lingering at the exterior, waiting for Robin, when Black Canary's communication device rang and Green Arrow's voice resounded.
"Canary! Where are you?" he asked urgently, causing Canary to respond in confusion. "The airport. Why have you broken radio silence?"
Before Green Arrow could answer, the loud explosions of multiple cars blowing up reached Miss Martian and Canary's sights. "What's going on?" she asked instead.
"Attack, unknown group. It looks like an assassination attempt on multiple targets. The king is dead, and the royal palace is swarming with guys trying to kill members of the royal family. Arias and Terra Markovic managed to get out but are being pursued. They're heading your way," Green Arrow revealed.
Canary quickly understood the situation. "What about the other team? Are they aware?" she asked, referring to Kid Flash and the others posted among the crowd.
"Yeah, I told them to help get the civilians away from here, but it's chaos. We're gonna need help," he explained, the sound of gunfire heavy in the background.
Black Canary stood from her crouched, hidden position and quickly propelled herself up by using her sonic scream against the ground. "Got it. Sending out the alert now. Miss Martian, you, me, and Robin will deal with the attackers coming this way and then join the others."
"Got it," Miss Martian agreed before taking off into the air and flying over the airport's fence.
Meanwhile, a speeding luxury sedan was cruising through the luminescent highways leading toward the airport, with large SUVs hot on their tail. Individuals were hanging out of the windows, emptying their clips at the rear of Arias's vehicle.
Mercy was panicking, and so was Terra, but Arias had abandoned his worried expression and looked calm once again. He watched nonchalantly as one SUV tried to maneuver to their vehicle's right-hand side. He glanced at it, and just as the attackers aimed at his car, he flipped their vehicle, sending it flying over the highway.
"Should I destroy the roads?" Terra inquired after observing Arias, but to her surprise, he shook his head.
"No, let them keep following us," he muttered, glancing at the visible airport in the distance.
Arias's vehicle rushed through the vehicle entrance to the airport runways, and the pursuing vehicles followed. However, just as they drew closer, numerous dark round beads were thrown in front of them from an obscure corner of the building entrance.
Immediately after the cars drove over these, they exploded and blew up the tires, sending the vehicles swerving out of control.
Mercy observed this from her cracked rearview mirror and frowned. "Did you set that up?" she asked, thinking Arias had prepared it, but he shook his head just as Robin emerged from the shadows, rushing toward the stopped vehicles.
The attackers were quick to exit with their guns drawn, but Black Canary came rushing in, and with one sonic scream, she disarmed them and launched them backward. Miss Martian phased through the ground and quickly gathered the guns, while Robin and Canary easily beat them down.
Meanwhile, Arias's car came to a stop, and he walked out. As he did so, one attacker seemed to be getting the upper hand on an overwhelmed Robin, but he was suddenly lifted into the air before being slammed into the hood of one of the SUVs. Arias did the same to the other attackers who weren't already on the ground, leaving them writhing in pain as he approached the scene.
Without saying anything to Canary and her group, only offering them a passive glance, he moved toward the nearest attacker and placed his hand on the man's face before asking, "Who hired you?"
The burly man smiled even in such a situation and refused to answer, instead saying, "Fuck off, mate."
Without another word, Arias looked ready to kill the man but was stopped by Robin, who raised his metallic staff toward him. "Stop right there."
Arias glanced at Robin without uttering a word and retracted his hand. He then looked at Black Canary, who was the oldest present. "How convenient of you to show up after the attack," he commented in an accusatory manner.
Black Canary frowned and threw her own accusations. "And how convenient of you to have an escape route planned. Almost as if you knew this would happen…"
Arias smiled at the claim and looked over at the downed attackers before responding.
"Trust me, if I knew someone was planning to take my life, I'd take theirs before they even got the chance." The seriousness in his voice made it hard to doubt his words.
Without saying anything else, Arias walked back to his vehicle, leaving Canary and the others confused.
Was this really just a coincidence?
