Once they got to the house, he turned her toward him.
His voice was soft but deep, carrying a note of concern as he asked, "Are you okay?" His gaze remained fixed on Eliana, his expression filled with quiet sympathy.
Eliana blinked, snapping herself back to the present. "Yes," she replied quickly. "I'm fine."
A small, knowing grin tugged at the corner of Leo's lips. "Then why do you look like a deer caught in front of headlights?" he asked, his tone laced with teasing curiosity.
Her eyes widened slightly, and she shook her head. "Huh? No, I'm fine, really," she insisted, forcing a smile she didn't quite feel.
