Hell's Kitchen.
At the heart of it stood the luxurious Atlantis Hotel, renowned as the most opulent establishment in all of Hell's Kitchen. This was the place where only the elite roamed. Those who came here were at the pinnacle of Hell's Kitchen's hierarchy.
The hotel's top floor is especially exclusive, with bookings often scheduled months in advance by high-profile guests. Yet, today, the entire top floor had been reserved by a single person—Wilson Fisk, also known as Kingpin. This level of extravagance could only mean one thing: he was meeting someone special.
"Vanessa, I sincerely apologize. I've had so many matters to attend to recently that I've neglected you," Kingpin said earnestly to the woman seated across from him, Vanessa.
Since taking out Shin and dismantling the Yakuza group backing him, Kingpin had been on a rampage, systematically eliminating other criminal factions. He had already dealt with the Bear Brothers, absorbed their territory, and recently discovered that the person who poisoned Vanessa was the treacherous Leland.
Naturally, Kingpin sent Bullseye to take care of Leland. With a single stone, Bullseye ended the traitor's life, and Kingpin absorbed Leland's assets as well. Kingpin had already wiped out three out of the five major factions that once ruled Hell's Kitchen. Only Madame Gao remained, but Kingpin didn't consider her much of a threat.
In truth, Kingpin had been busier than ever consolidating his power. He would have already dealt with Madame Gao if it weren't for the sheer volume of territory he had to digest.
Empowered by his Devil Fruit abilities, Kingpin had grown more confident. Not that he did much of the dirty work himself—most of his operations were handled by Bullseye, who had become even more deadly after consuming the Slash-Slash Fruit.
With the fruit's power, Bullseye, once a formidable marksman, had transformed into a full-fledged combatant. The fruit had eliminated his previous weakness—close-quarters combat. Now, Bullseye was a lethal force both at range and in melee, capable of turning parts of his body into blades for enhanced offense and defense. No one could stand against him. Under Bullseye's blade, the remaining leaders of the rival factions were swiftly dealt with, leaving Kingpin with near-total control of Hell's Kitchen.
Yet, despite all his success, Kingpin couldn't shake the one unresolved matter that still gnawed at him: the mysterious disappearance of Elektra, the woman he had been searching for.
Shaking off the distractions, Kingpin refocused his attention on Vanessa. Tonight, there would be no business, no chaos—only time spent making amends with the woman he cherished.
"Fisk, you don't need to worry about that," Vanessa said, placing her hand gently on his. "I understand what you're doing. I'm not like those other women who demand constant attention. I don't want to be a burden or distraction for you."
"Vanessa, that's exactly why I love you. And you're not a burden—you're everything to me."
Vanessa smiled at his words, amused. "Aren't you being a bit too sentimental?"
"Well," Kingpin chuckled, moving on to another topic, "how's your Devil Fruit ability progressing?"
"Actually... haven't you noticed my skin looks better?" Vanessa said playfully, shaking her head with a bit of pride.
"In my eyes, you've always been perfect," Kingpin responded, his attempt at a compliment endearing Vanessa, who laughed with joy. She was about to reply when the lights in the room suddenly went out, plunging them into darkness. Kingpin's expression immediately turned to one of alarm.
At the same time, gunfire and muffled screams echoed through the building, making Kingpin's face darkened further.
"A group of ninjas has infiltrated," Bullseye, who had been standing guard outside, quickly reported as he entered the room. "I'll hold them off. You need to leave."
'Ninjas?' Kingpin was taken aback. 'Hadn't he already wiped out Shin's forces? Where were these ninjas coming from?'
But now wasn't the time to dwell on that. "Vanessa, let's go!" Kingpin rose swiftly, guiding Vanessa as his trusted guards escorted them toward an exit.
Suddenly, the windows shattered, and ninjas swung into the room on ropes, blocking their escape.
"Iron Fist, we meet again."
A man in a suit, holding a sword with a red hilt, spoke in a low voice, his gaze fixed on Kingpin.
"Shin?" Kingpin couldn't believe his eyes. 'Wasn't this man supposed to be dead?' He vividly remembered crushing Shin's heart with his fist—there was no way he could have survived.
Yet, here Shin stood, very much alive, confronting him once again.
