'Just a few seconds....A man turning into a woman?'
Morbius felt as though he was listening to a fairy tale. This completely defied the principles of science—nothing short of fantastical. Yet, at that moment, the memory of Helen Cho healing his incurable disease with just a touch flashed in his mind. This made him pause. 'If healing someone with a touch could be real, maybe transforming genders in seconds wasn't too far-fetched after all.'
"I was just giving an example," Rosh said, noticing the confusion in Morbius's eyes. He continued explaining, unfazed. "The Horm-Horm Fruit has many applications for modifying the human body. For instance, it can use emotion-regulating hormones to relieve fatigue," Rosh explained. "Or, it can use healing hormones to boost the body's regenerative abilities, helping heal injuries."
"Of course, there are limitations. If someone is too exhausted or severely injured, the Horm-Horm Fruit's effects may have side effects when used to recover quickly. However, for everyday fatigue and minor injuries, it works wonders."
As Morbius listened, the more unbelievable it all sounded. If the Horm-Horm Fruit was real, it was indeed an extraordinary discovery. It could revolutionize his research. Yet, the fruit's miraculous properties also made him hesitant. After all, the catalog listed the Horm-Horm Fruit at a staggering four million dollars.
That was no small amount.
However, during one of their conversations, Helen Cho mentioned that the shop offered sample fruits for tasting. Eating a sample would grant five minutes of the fruit's powers. This reassured Morbius, as he could test it out before committing to the purchase.
After some consideration, Morbius made up his mind and turned to Rosh. "Shopkeeper, from what I've heard, your store offers samples of the fruits, right?"
"Of course," Rosh replied with a smile. This was a reasonable request, and he had no reason to deny it. Rosh then immediately took out a sample of the Horm-Horm Fruit and handed it to Morbius.
Morbius accepted the sample, hesitating for a moment before eating it with a mixture of anticipation and curiosity. Suddenly, a look of surprise flashed across his face. He could immediately feel changes taking place within his body. It was a sensation, unlike anything he could describe—a strange and indescribable transformation.
At that moment, Morbius felt as though a "hormone controller" had been installed inside him. He could clearly sense the various hormones within his body and could control them with ease.
The sensation was truly bizarre.
With just a thought, something incredible happened. Syringe-like appendages began to grow from his fingertips! Even though this was the first time he had seen them, Morbius instinctively knew that these syringes were meant to inject hormones into a person's body.
"This feeling… it's absolutely incredible," Morbius exclaimed, his eyes lighting up in awe as he marveled at the experience.
Without hesitation, he willed himself to secrete a dose of "sadness hormones," which he promptly injected into his own body.
Suddenly, it felt as though he had been struck by a spell. Just moments ago, Morbius had been celebrating the fact that his terminal illness had been cured, yet now, he was overwhelmed by an inexplicable wave of sorrow. He felt a deep urge to find a corner and cry his heart out, even though nothing sad had occurred.
The sensation was utterly strange—he had no reason to feel sad, yet sadness consumed him. Of course, the sadness only affected his emotions and didn't impair his intellect. His mind remained sharp and clear. At this point, Morbius's doubts about the Horm-Horm Fruit were completely dispelled.
"Incredible… truly incredible!" Morbius exclaimed, wiping away the tears that had unknowingly gathered at the corners of his eyes. He looked at Rosh with genuine admiration. However, the contrast between his enthusiastic tone and his teary, sorrowful expression was quite amusing.
"Would you like to take a look at the other Devil Fruits?" Rosh asked with a smile, curious if Morbius wanted to explore more options.
"No, I've made my decision. I want the Horm-Horm Fruit," Morbius replied, shaking his head. He had made up his mind.
"That'll be four million dollars," Rosh informed him.
"Charge it, boss," Morbius responded, pulling out his credit card without hesitation.
*Beep!*
The transaction was quickly processed. Rosh handed over the Horm-Horm Fruit, and with great anticipation, Morbius took a bite. Of course, it was just a bite. Given the infamous taste of Devil Fruits, only someone as bold as Deadpool could manage to eat an entire fruit in one go.
"By the way," Rosh began as the transaction concluded, "we have a group chat specifically for Devil Fruit users. Would you like to join?"
"Absolutely, I'd be honored!" Morbius agreed, much like most other customers who had purchased a Devil Fruit. He had little reason to hesitate. The two exchanged social media contacts, and Rosh swiftly added Morbius to the group.
Shopkeeper: "@Everyone, please warmly welcome the newest member of our Devil Fruit family!"
Michael Morbius: "Hello, everyone. I'm Michael Morbius. It's a pleasure to join this wonderful family!"
Charles Xavier: "Dr. Morbius? Is that you? I didn't expect to see you in this group!"
Michael Morbius: "Professor Xavier? I didn't know you were part of this group as well. What a surprise!"
Indeed, both Professor X and Morbius were renowned figures in their respective fields, and they had crossed paths a few times before. They weren't particularly close, but they knew each other.
Wade Wilson: "Another doctor in the group? That makes two! Between you and Dr. Helen Cho, I didn't realize I was on first-name terms with so many top-tier scientists!"
