Chapter 245 - Chapter 243: Out of the Frying Pan, Into the Parallax Monster

In the end, Harley Quinn actually shot Amanda Waller.

As the stunned members of the Suicide Squad stood there in shock, watching Harley skip back gleefully, Su Sheng couldn't help but laugh. He wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her into a kiss before both of them disappeared into the Shockwave Wormhole along with June Moone.

The wormhole vanished, leaving the squad members dumbfounded.

"What the hell was that?" Deadshot blurted, his voice a mix of disbelief and exhaustion. Meanwhile, Killer Croc took advantage of the moment to pry off the remote bomb device attached to Amanda Waller.

The team had started with six: Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, Killer Croc, Diablo, Harley Quinn, and Katana. But now, only three remained: Deadshot, Killer Croc, and Katana. One mission, and half of them were gone. Without Su Sheng's intervention, they all would have been wiped out.

It truly was a suicidal mission.

The remaining three shared a look, relieved the nightmare was finally over. They just wanted to regain their freedom and walk away from this mess.

"Where do you think you're going?" Rick Flag's voice stopped them cold. "Don't forget, I still have a remote control too."

Anger flared in their eyes as they turned toward him.

"No one's leaving," Rick said firmly. "Once this mission is officially over, I'll see about getting your sentences reduced."

Despite Amanda Waller's death, Rick Flag was still determined to complete his mission. Under his orders, the team begrudgingly stayed put, and soon helicopters arrived to pick them up, clean the battlefield, and handle the aftermath. However, the squad, expecting a return to prison after the mission, had no idea they were being sent into another battle—one even deadlier than the witch.

Aboard Su Sheng's Ship, the Disciple

Back on the ship, Harley Quinn looked around in wide-eyed curiosity. "So this is your spaceship?" she asked excitedly, exploring every corner without stopping for a moment.

"Thank you," June Moone said weakly, still wearing the remnants of her witch attire.

"You can stay for now. Go shower and change. We'll talk later," Su Sheng replied, gesturing to her. June nodded, limping toward the nearest room.

"I want to stay here too!" Harley declared, jumping in front of Su Sheng with determination. "I want to follow you everywhere. You're not getting rid of me."

Su Sheng smiled. "Alright."

Her face lit up. "Great! I've got tons of things I want to do with you. I promise you won't get bored. And if you do, that's fine too! I'll stay by your side and find something new for us to do!" Harley's grin was infectious.

"Alright, let me show you around," Su Sheng said, taking her on a tour of the ship. He led her through various rooms, including the cells and his collection room. When they reached the collection room, Harley immediately took an interest in the photos.

"I want to take one too!" she exclaimed, and Su Sheng didn't hesitate to oblige. Unlike others, Harley was more than cooperative. She eagerly posed for pictures, changing positions multiple times until they took dozens of shots. She finally selected her favorite to hang on the wall.

But when her photo ended up at the end of the row, she pouted. "I don't want to be at the end! Put me in front!" she whined, twisting playfully in his arms.

Ignoring her plea, Su Sheng simply said, "Come on, let's rest for a bit."

Later in the Bedroom

As soon as they lay down, Harley collapsed on top of Su Sheng, her eyes gleaming mischievously.

"What's up?" Su Sheng asked with a smile.

"Let's go!" Harley laughed, ripping at his clothes playfully.

Su Sheng chuckled, reminded of just how high-energy Harley could be. As they embraced, her playful yet intense personality drove their encounter, the two reveling in the moment until exhaustion finally took over.

"I love you, you know," Harley whispered softly, curling up against him.

Su Sheng paused for a moment, then smiled silently. Love, he thought. It wasn't a word he heard often.

Meanwhile, Outside the Ship

While things were calm aboard the Disciple, chaos was erupting outside. Central City lay in ruins. Early estimates suggested that tens of thousands had been killed in the disaster, and the mysterious monsters had finally vanished, as if drained of power. With Amanda Waller dead, the powers that be were scrambling to assign new leadership to ARGUS. And while the witch and Harley Quinn were primary concerns, along with the mysterious appearance of Su Sheng, there was an even bigger problem at hand.

The crisis in Central City had ended, but another had just begun in Coastal City.

The Parallax Monster had arrived.

It was like Doomsday all over again—unstoppable and growing stronger by the minute. Batman and The Flash were doing everything they could to save civilians, but the Parallax Monster was feeding on fear, becoming more powerful with each passing moment. Even with Batman's efforts, there was no stopping it.

Batman held the line as best he could, while The Flash focused on evacuating as many people as possible. The Parallax Monster seemed invulnerable to most attacks, and its ability to absorb fear made it nearly impossible to defeat. Batman's team, including the newly recovered Barbara Gordon in her Batgirl suit, was also on the scene, helping clear the city, but they couldn't provide much more assistance beyond that.

Fortunately, Superman finally arrived. After a long absence, the Man of Steel returned, driven by his unshakable sense of justice. His appearance gave Batman a momentary sense of relief. With Superman's strength, they at least had a fighting chance.

But then, as Batman caught sight of new arrivals, he frowned.

Deadshot, Killer Croc, and Katana.

Amanda Waller's Suicide Squad? Batman thought. How did they end up here?

And the fight against the Parallax Monster was only just beginning.
