Chapter 242 - Chapter 240: Are All Superheroes Busy?

The sight of the mass of monsters swarming below cast a grim shadow over everyone's faces. The witch's dark magic had turned innocent people into these faceless, grotesque creatures covered in eyes. Though they were not particularly strong individually, their overwhelming numbers stirred a sense of desperation among the Suicide Squad.

"Now we'll see if there's really a second plane," Su Sheng quipped, glancing at Amanda Waller's tense expression with amusement.

The group knew that if there wasn't another way out, they'd be left to fend for themselves amidst the growing tide of monsters.

"Yo, yo, yo! Look at the big guy over there!" Harley Quinn shouted, dancing with excitement. In the distance, a massive figure, red-skinned and towering at least three meters tall, lumbered toward them. It looked like a demon, and its sheer size only deepened the group's dread.

"We can't wait any longer," Deadshot declared, his voice firm. "Is there another plane or not? If not, we have to break through."

The time for hesitation was over, and life or death was at stake.

Amanda Waller remained silent.

"There's no plane, is there?" Captain Boomerang snarled, lunging toward her. Rick Flag swiftly raised his weapon, positioning himself between Boomerang and Waller.

"Calm down," Flag ordered. "We'll find another way."

"Calm down? How can we be calm when you're sending us to our deaths?" Boomerang shouted in frustration. The rest of the group—Deadshot, Katana, Killer Croc, and Diablo—watched the scene unfold, their patience wearing thin. Even Katana, usually loyal to Amanda Waller, seemed to be losing faith. They had accepted the risks of their mission, but being deceived was another matter entirely.

Amanda Waller remained unnervingly calm. She knew they couldn't harm her—not with the bombs still implanted in their necks. However, her frustration stemmed from something else entirely: Su Sheng and Harley Quinn. If Su Sheng hadn't interfered, she would have already escaped on the helicopter.

Waller glanced toward Su Sheng, who was talking with Harley Quinn. They seemed far removed from the escalating tension around them.

"It's strange," Su Sheng mused, almost too casually. "The witch has created this massive mess, half the city has fallen, and yet, no other superheroes have shown up."

"Like who?" Harley asked with curiosity.

"Batman, Superman, The Flash... even Wonder Woman," Su Sheng said, his tone thoughtful. He raised his bracelet and checked something quickly.

So why hadn't they come? The answer was simple: they were dealing with other problems.

In the seaside city, a massive alien entity had appeared. Batman and The Flash were busy saving civilians, while Wonder Woman was most likely handling her ongoing fight with the Cheetah, far from the United States. As for Superman, after the last major incident, he seemed to have lost interest in the hero business altogether.

"What's that?" Harley pointed to Su Sheng's bracelet, noticing an image of a huge, yellow, monstrous creature.

"Oh, that's the Parallax, a creature that thrives on fear and can absorb its power," Su Sheng explained.

"Fear? I love it!" Harley cackled with delight.

In the movie, Hal Jordan, the Green Lantern, eventually defeated the Parallax. But with Hal Jordan dead and no Green Lantern in sight, Su Sheng wondered how Batman and The Flash would manage to stop such a powerful force.

"We need to break through," Deadshot interrupted, inspecting his gear and motioning for the others to follow. "We'll die if we stay here. Let's go before that giant gets any closer."

Without waiting for a response, Deadshot moved toward the edge, with Captain Boomerang, Killer Croc, and Diablo following close behind. Katana hesitated but eventually followed suit.

Rick Flag turned to Amanda Waller. "We need to go, now."

Amanda Waller, however, was fixated on Su Sheng. She approached him. "I know you can teleport us out. What's your price?"

Su Sheng grinned. "No need for any conditions."

To Waller's surprise, Su Sheng suddenly opened a shockwave wormhole, its swirling energy beckoning her forward.

"Where does it lead?" she asked warily.

Su Sheng simply smiled, offering no answer.

A safe haven? Or a more dangerous place? Waller didn't know, but with few options left, she decided to take the gamble. "Let's go," she ordered Rick Flag, and the two stepped into the wormhole.

"Did you really just send them away like that?" Harley pouted.

Before Su Sheng could reply, the sound of Amanda Waller's furious voice echoed from below. The wormhole had deposited her and Rick Flag right in the middle of the monster horde, and they were now firing wildly at the incoming creatures.

"Goodbye, Ms. Amanda Waller!" Harley called out gleefully, waving down at the chaos.

Gunfire, roaring monsters, and flashes of flame filled the air. The scene below resembled the end of the world, and Harley's excitement grew with every passing second. She turned to Su Sheng, her eyes gleaming with manic energy. "Either take me right now, or I'll go down there and take them! I'm too excited—I can't help it!"

Su Sheng chuckled. "Don't you want to see the witch?"

"The witch?" Harley blinked. "Okay, okay, yeah! Let's go!"

Without another word, Harley leapt onto Su Sheng like an octopus. He chuckled again before jumping off the rooftop with a deafening boom, flying toward the source of the blue light in the distance.

That was where the witch waited.

As they flew closer, the pull of the witch's magic grew stronger.

Boom!

Su Sheng descended swiftly, crashing through the roof of the building where the witch was hiding. The moment they landed, several of the witch's grotesque creatures rushed at them.

"Want to see some fireworks?" Su Sheng asked, his eyes suddenly glowing red.

Before the creatures could get any closer, Su Sheng's heat vision erupted, slicing through them like a laser. Harley cheered as the monsters exploded one by one, lighting up the room with bursts of fiery energy.

"Ohhh! So beautiful, dear!" Harley yelled, clapping her hands in excitement. When the explosions finally ceased, she jumped down and looked toward the witch, who stood under the eerie blue light in the distance.

The final confrontation was about to begin.
