Indigo was bad—really bad—but it was the kind of bad that perfectly aligned with Su Sheng's love for thrill and chaos. Her devious suggestions, especially the one about making Alura his personal pillow, were shocking even to him. The mere thought of the future consequences—if Alura and Supergirl ever found out—was enough to bring a wicked smile to his face.
Would they turn on each other? Probably not. But it would definitely affect their relationship, and by extension, Su Sheng's control over them. Supergirl, raised on Earth with its moral ideals, would be horrified. She might even hate Su Sheng for it.
But the danger, the excitement, made it all the more tempting.
"There's no need to think about it too much," Su Sheng mused aloud. "The more you let emotions entangle you, the less fun there is. It's better to enjoy the moment than worry about what happens after."
Turning to Indigo, he instructed, "I want this Argo City. Go to the Discipleship and study their shrink-ray technology. We're going to collect this city and add it to my personal archive."
"Understood!" Indigo replied with a smile, ready to leave but pausing with a frown. "It seems some of the Kryptonians are organizing to resist you, Master."
"Then let's show them the true glory of the Holy Spirit," Su Sheng said with a chuckle. In a flash, he activated the Speed Force and appeared at the location of the resistance.
On the edge of the city, hundreds of Kryptonians had gathered at a construction site, armed with weapons and ready to fight. There were easily one or two thousand of them, a formidable crowd.
Su Sheng's sudden appearance caused a stir.
"Who are you? Get out of the way!" someone shouted from the group.
"Get out of the way? Are you sure you're not looking for me?" Su Sheng's voice dripped with amusement as his form shifted. His clothes darkened, morphing into a black uniform resembling the ones worn by Kryptonians. A black cape billowed behind him, and an emblem of the Holy Spirit shone on his chest.
Even though he had no ties to any established godhood—no cosmic origin or purpose—he embraced the role with relish. After all, even playing the part of a god required some flair.
Wearing the dark uniform, Su Sheng exuded an overwhelming aura. The very air around him seemed to crackle with divine power, a power so potent that even the old gods of Krypton would have struggled to resist it.
In an instant, that power spread throughout Argo City.
Pfft! Pfft!
All around the city, Kryptonians dropped to their knees, unable to withstand the pressure. Some shivered in fear, while others whispered frantic prayers.
For the first time, none of them doubted the existence or divinity of the Holy Spirit.
Su Sheng floated into the air, looking down at the trembling resistance. He pointed a single finger, and in that moment, an intense cold swept over them. The air froze, and within seconds, every one of the two thousand rebels was encased in ice, locked in the very position they had knelt in.
"I... am your god," Su Sheng's voice echoed across the entire city before he disappeared from view.
For the Kryptonians, it was undeniable now. They had seen the raw power of a true god, something they had never believed in before. Despite their advanced technology, their understanding of divine beings had always been rudimentary. But now, faced with Su Sheng's power—freezing thousands of them with just one finger—they could no longer resist the truth.
The high priestess wasted no time. In her fervor, she replaced all the family emblems in Argo City with the Holy Spirit symbol, took control of the city's governance, and disbanded the High Council. Loyal believers were appointed to key positions, and an elite guard was formed to protect the new order.
The transfer of power happened quickly and smoothly.
"That high priestess certainly has a taste for power," Su Sheng mused, now back at Alura's home. Indigo had just finished updating him on the swift political changes in Argo City.
"It's no surprise," Indigo said, chuckling. "Though she's your most devoted follower, her hunger for control is obvious. She arranged for the World Destroyer to go to Earth, and now she's handling things here without letting me intervene. It's all about power."
"Typical," Su Sheng laughed. "Earthlings, Kryptonians—it doesn't matter where they come from, they all crave power."
"That's not a bad thing, though," Indigo added, walking to the door. "Her power comes from you. If she wants to hold on to it, she has no choice but to remain loyal."
With that, Indigo opened the door, and Alura was led in by guards.
"Leave us," Indigo ordered the guards before turning to Su Sheng with a wicked grin. "Master, your pillow is here."
Su Sheng laughed. "You can leave too."
Indigo winked and transformed into a stream of data, vanishing from sight. Su Sheng then turned his attention to Alura, who stood defiantly in front of him.
"You're not like the others," Su Sheng noted. "You didn't surrender."
Alura's voice was cold but steady. "Perhaps you are the Holy Spirit, but you are certainly not a kind or righteous god."
Su Sheng smiled. "No, I'm not. I'm a selfish god, like most of the old gods. The difference is, I'll do whatever I please to satisfy myself—whether it's good or bad."
He stepped closer to Alura. "Would you like to see your daughter?"
"Kara?" Alura's eyes widened in shock. "Kara is alive?"
Before she could react, Su Sheng moved in a blur. By the time Alura realized what was happening, her dress had vanished.
