"You tease time, and time teases you."
This sentiment had never been more apt for Indigo. As the proclaimed Voice of the Holy Spirit, she had spread Su Sheng's influence across Krypton, embedding ancient relics, miracles, and prophecies across its history. She had left marks of future technology, crafting the myth of a returning Holy Spirit and embedding her role in the city's network.
But, ironically, it was her own handiwork that led to her capture and imprisonment in Rodsburg. By spreading the myth of the Holy Spirit and acting as its voice, Indigo unwittingly became so central to Krypton's society that she ended up being appointed as the overseer of its network security—an appointment that ultimately led to her capture.
It was a paradox, a cruel cycle. Indigo had laid the very trap that would ensnare her.
Both Indigo and the other Kryptonians were left stunned at this realization.
"Do you remember Kandor City?" Indigo asked, her voice echoing through the chamber.
A murmur rippled through the gathered Kryptonians. "Of course we remember. Brainiac took Kandor City, which destabilized Krypton's core, leading to its destruction," someone replied solemnly.
"Rebirth comes from destruction. Only through complete annihilation can new life emerge," the high priestess Serena intoned reverently. "Now that the Holy Spirit has returned, our new life begins."
As Serena bowed deeply to Su Sheng, Su Sheng couldn't help but smirk. The mention of Brainiac collecting Kandor in Su Sheng's name amused him. He wondered what Brainiac would think if he knew his deeds had been repurposed as part of Su Sheng's grand mythos.
The high priestess then turned her gaze to Su Sheng, her eyes full of reverence. "The World Destroyer… was that your doing as well?" she asked.
"Yes," Su Sheng answered without hesitation.
Serena's face lit up with even more fanaticism. "When the Holy Spirit returns, His disciples must rise. We need more followers, more soldiers in your holy cause."
Her excitement grew. "Master, your servants are awakening, and your disciples are increasing. Let me spread your brilliance throughout the city. Let me show the people who their true god is!"
Su Sheng chuckled, amused by Serena's fervor. "Go ahead," he said. "Lock up anyone who opposes us and take control with Indigo. If you need me, I'll be at Alura's house."
As he left the scene, Su Sheng wandered through Alura's home, taking in the memories that lingered there. The place hadn't changed much since the days of Krypton. Thanks to the psychic control he had exerted over Alura, Su Sheng now knew intimate details about Supergirl's childhood. He smirked, thinking about the irony of his position in the home of the woman who once played such a pivotal role in Kara's life.
Outside, however, the city was in turmoil. The high priestess had begun preaching about the return of the Holy Spirit, and it was causing quite a stir. For millennia, the Kryptonians had worshipped Rao, the sun god, but now, their beliefs were being shaken. The high priestess's status and the fragile state of their society made the shift somewhat easier to accept for most, but there was still resistance. Followers of Rao and traditionalists were already organizing against this new doctrine, though for the moment, the chaos had subsided.
"Master," Indigo's voice interrupted Su Sheng's thoughts as she appeared beside him.
"Handled?" he asked casually.
"For the most part. But not everyone is convinced," Indigo replied nonchalantly.
Su Sheng laughed. "How does it feel to have dug your own grave?"
Indigo's face twisted into a wry smile. "Even with all my intelligence, I couldn't have predicted this. The butterfly effect is tricky to calculate."
"But at least now I have thirty thousand Kryptonian slaves at your disposal," Indigo added cheerfully. "And the past? The future? It hardly matters—because you, Master, can change it all."
Su Sheng smiled. "I like the way you think. What's happening on Earth?"
Indigo paused for a moment. "The DEO is fortifying with lead-lined safe houses to counter the Big Purge plan. General Zod has suggested destroying Earth's satellites to prevent the purge from spreading, and Lolita has already rescued Mon-El. Interestingly, while Siobhan Smythe didn't directly attack Lolita, she's been disrupting her attempts to capture aliens."
Indigo continued. "And of course, there are messages from Alex, Lucy Lane, Siobhan Smythe, and Lena Luthor. Speaking of which, Master—half of the thirty thousand Kryptonians here are women. Due to the Origin Chamber and population control measures, none of them have experienced natural conception or union."
Indigo grinned mischievously. "Would you like to pick a couple of new pillows?"
Su Sheng chuckled. "Why not? I could try changing things up each day."
On Krypton, the concept of natural reproduction had long been discarded, replaced by the advanced processes of the Origin Chamber. For the Kryptonians, the idea of natural union was seen as primitive, even repulsive.
"Would you like me to recommend someone, Master?" Indigo asked, her eyes gleaming with mischief.
"Who do you have in mind?" Su Sheng asked curiously.
"Alura," Indigo suggested with a sly smile.
Su Sheng raised an eyebrow. "That's bold. You're suggesting Supergirl's mother? Are you trying to make me family?"
Indigo's grin widened. "It would certainly make things interesting. Imagine—Supergirl and Alura, reunited without knowing each other is alive. And let's not forget Astra is still on Earth."
"You're cruel," Su Sheng laughed. "I doubt even you were this devious back on Krypton."
Indigo smiled wickedly. "Perhaps I've learned a thing or two since then."
