The night in National City was more vibrant and chaotic than the day. Superman's recent actions in Metropolis had pushed many, especially those associated with Doomsday, into a state of indulgence—living as though their time was running out.
In a secluded alley, a sleek car drove down the dimly lit road.
In the back seat, Su Sheng gazed at Lena Luthor. She was dressed in a stunning evening gown with a plunging neckline, her shoulders exposed in a way that radiated both elegance and power. Her figure was curvaceous, contrasting sharply with the slender Supergirl. Lena was no less striking, though. Her allure came not just from her attire, but from the air of confidence and control she exuded.
"This underground fight club is completely illegal, invitation-only," Lena explained, looking at Su Sheng. "Only vetted members are allowed to participate. There's no limit on bets, but each guest must pass an audit before entering, and everyone must wear a mask. The organizer of this event is a woman named Lolit, though no one knows her real name. I still don't understand why you're interested. I doubt there are any aliens here that could catch your eye."
Su Sheng chuckled, amused by her curiosity. "You'll understand soon enough."
Lena remained unconvinced but chose not to press the issue.
The car eventually pulled up to the gate of an abandoned factory. Su Sheng and Lena stepped out, greeted by two bodyguards clad in black who stood by the door.
"We'll need to check you before entry," one of the bodyguards stated flatly.
Su Sheng squinted slightly, his psychic abilities immediately taking control of their minds. The bodyguards' expressions shifted, and without hesitation, they stepped aside, not only bypassing the usual body search but also offering masks to both him and Lena.
Lena pouted slightly, unimpressed but unsurprised by Su Sheng's use of mind control. She had witnessed his abilities before.
Inside, the factory was transformed. In the center stood a large cage, and around it, luxurious sofas and chairs were filled with masked guests, sipping drinks and exchanging bets. At the front of the cage, a striking woman was introducing the upcoming fight.
She was dressed in a fiery red cheongsam, with intricate snake tattoos coiling around her legs and arms. The snake motif on her shoulders looked almost alive, enhancing her seductive and dangerous aura.
Su Sheng's eyes lit up with recognition.
"She's your target?" Lena asked, noticing his reaction. "That's Lolit, the organizer of these underground fights. No one knows much about her or where she gets these aliens from."
Su Sheng smirked. "I know. Her daughter is an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D."
"S.H.I.E.L.D.?" Lena echoed in confusion, unfamiliar with the organization.
Su Sheng didn't elaborate, instead wrapping an arm around her shoulders and guiding her toward a nearby two-seater sofa. As they sat, Lolit continued her introduction, explaining the rules and taking bets. Women moved gracefully through the crowd, noting the wagers of each guest.
Once Lolit finished, she started to walk away, but Su Sheng called out to her, his voice cutting through the murmur of the crowd.
"Hey!"
Heads turned in surprise. Lolit herself stopped, startled by the casual boldness of his tone.
"You," Su Sheng said, pointing at her. "Come here."
For a moment, Lolit looked stunned. Few dared to speak to her so bluntly in her own domain, but she composed herself quickly and approached with a smile.
"Is there a problem?" she asked smoothly.
"You said there's no limit to the bets. What's the biggest wager you're willing to accept?" Su Sheng asked, his tone teasing.
Lolit's smile didn't falter. "Of course. We can accommodate any size of bet."
"A billion dollars," Su Sheng said, his grin widening. "On the alien that's ten-to-one odds. Can you cover it?"
The crowd buzzed with shock. Lolit's face tightened for a moment, her eyes narrowing.
"Are you here to cause trouble?" she asked coldly.
Su Sheng merely shrugged. "What kind of operation are you running if you can't handle a real bet?"
After a moment of tense silence, Lolit gestured to an attendant, who brought over an account number. Su Sheng took out his phone, pretending to make the transfer, though he used his powers to silently pull funds from banks across the globe. Once done, he handed her a slip with the transaction details.
"One billion placed. If I lose, it'll be ten billion owed."
Lolit scanned the number, then received a quiet word from one of her aides. Her expression shifted slightly before she forced a smile. "Very well. Your bet is accepted."
As she turned to walk away, Lena leaned over to Su Sheng. "What are you doing? You could handle this easily without risking so much money."
Su Sheng smirked, raising a finger to his lips. "Shh, it's about to begin."
The fight started with a clang. Two aliens emerged from the cages, and the battle began immediately. One of the aliens, Droga, was a formidable opponent—a being known to have gone toe-to-toe with Superman in the comics and even challenged Martian Manhunter in live-action adaptations. His strength was evident as he quickly overwhelmed his opponent.
"You're going to lose," Lena whispered to Su Sheng, watching Droga dominate the fight.
Su Sheng chuckled softly. "Let's see."
With a subtle flick of his mind, Su Sheng unleashed a wave of psychic control over Droga. For just a moment, Droga hesitated, his movements faltering. His opponent seized the chance, delivering a rapid series of strikes that turned the tide of the battle.
Lena's eyes widened in surprise. The reversal had been sudden and unexpected. "You used your powers, didn't you?"
Su Sheng smiled but didn't respond.
Within moments, the battle was over. Droga lay still on the ground, his opponent having snapped his neck with a final, decisive move.
The room erupted into shocked gasps. Su Sheng stood up leisurely, making his way toward Lolit, who was staring at him with a pale expression.
"One-to-ten odds," Su Sheng said, his grin widening. "I believe you owe me ten billion dollars."
