"Who is he? Is he also an agent of the DEO?" A woman in a military uniform approached quickly, her tone sharp and commanding.
"He is... He's my helper," Alex whispered to Su Sheng as the woman drew nearer. "This is Lucy Lane, General Sam Lane's daughter."
Lucy Lane eyed Su Sheng's armored figure critically. "What's your ability? Is it tied to that armor or... battle suit?" Her voice, though not harsh, carried an urgency that was hard to miss—whether it stemmed from her military background or her role as a lawyer, her words carried an aggressive edge.
"I've already notified Superman, and you should all be prepared to move out as soon as possible," Lucy continued without waiting for Su Sheng's response. "We need to find General Sam Lane and Supergirl as quickly as possible." With that, she turned and walked away, not bothering to listen to any further explanation.
Alex frowned, watching her leave. "Aren't you... angry?" she asked, concerned that Su Sheng might be offended by Lucy's brusque manner. It wasn't that Alex was overly concerned for Su Sheng, but she worried that if he reacted badly, it could complicate things further.
"I heard she's Jimmy Olsen's ex-fiancée?" Su Sheng remarked, stepping into a nearby military tent, with Alex following close behind.
"Yeah, why do you ask?"
"She's still a virgin," Su Sheng commented offhandedly, turning around and pulling Alex into a casual embrace.
"What are you doing? Don't mess around," Alex warned, startled by his sudden move. "You said she's still...? No way. If she was engaged to Jimmy, how could she still be...?"
"Sam Lane didn't approve of Jimmy. Although Lucy liked Jimmy and got engaged to him, their work kept them apart most of the time. Platonic love can be challenging, and while she might have been okay with it, men usually aren't as patient. So..." Su Sheng shrugged, a smirk playing on his lips. "She came along to help with the Red Tornado test in part to try to salvage her relationship with Jamie."
"How do you know that?" Alex asked, surprised. Such private details weren't something people typically shared openly.
Su Sheng tapped his temple. "Telepathy—it's easy to probe someone's memories."
"Alright," Alex sighed, recalling the unsettling feeling of having her thoughts controlled before. "But let's focus. You need to save Supergirl."
"Okay!" Su Sheng agreed with a grin. He handed Alex her battle suit ring, and as she looked at him in slight confusion, he leaned in and kissed her.
Alex didn't resist this time.
Whether she was becoming used to it or simply realized there was no point in resisting, Alex didn't push him away. As the kiss deepened, she found herself unconsciously closing her eyes, her hand gently resting on Su Sheng's body, slowly beginning to respond to him. But just as she started to relax, Su Sheng abruptly pulled away.
"Gone!" Su Sheng announced with a grin as he donned his battle suit once more. A split second later, he disappeared in a flash.
An inexplicable sense of loss filled Alex's heart as she took a deep breath, turning her focus back to the mission at hand. She needed to rally all available forces to locate the Kryptonians and rescue General Sam Lane. Not long after Su Sheng departed, the air hummed with the sound of something breaking through it—Superman descended from the sky!
Superman had joined the DEO's efforts to search for General Sam Lane.
Meanwhile, Su Sheng made his way to Supergirl's apartment.
Although the Martian Manhunter harbored no ill will towards Supergirl, it was imperative to locate her as soon as possible. Su Sheng opened her closet, retrieved one of her shirts, and gently touched it with his fingers. Don't get the wrong idea—he wasn't indulging in any perverted hobbies. He was using his shockwave ability to track Supergirl's location.
Boom!
A vibration pulsed through him, and the next moment, his surroundings blurred, the world taking on a slightly blue, monochromatic hue. In this altered state, Su Sheng could see Supergirl lying in a device designed to simulate sunlight, aiding her recovery.
"This kind of equipment... It should be in the DEO, probably in one of the underground rooms. Clever—hiding in plain sight," Su Sheng chuckled as he put on his battle suit again. This time, he moved swiftly and silently, finding his way into the DEO's underground base.
It was a stroke of luck.
Superman had just flown off, patrolling the area for any signs of the Kryptonians or Sam Lane. If Superman had been around, he might have caught Su Sheng in the act.
Buzz!
The sudden vibration caught Martian Manhunter's attention, and he immediately stood, alert and ready, as the closed door before him opened to reveal a familiar battle suit.
"It's you!" Martian Manhunter exclaimed, standing protectively in front of Supergirl. "What do you want this time?"
"You're really not much to look at," Su Sheng muttered, eyeing the Martian Manhunter. "You should change back to Hank Henshaw. At least that form is easier on the eyes."
"How is she?" Su Sheng asked, nodding toward Supergirl.
Martian Manhunter hesitated, unsure of Su Sheng's intentions. But since Su Sheng didn't seem inclined to fight, he reluctantly reverted to his Hank Henshaw form. "Her condition isn't great. The energy in her Kryptonian cells is depleted; she needs to recharge as soon as possible."
"Still running out of energy? The Kryptonians in this world are really weak," Su Sheng scoffed, walking over and picking up Supergirl.
"What are you doing?"
"Taking her into the sunlight—this method is too slow."
"I can't let you take her," Martian Manhunter said firmly.
"Alex asked me to help," Su Sheng retorted with a grin.
Martian Manhunter was momentarily stunned. If Alex had called Su Sheng, it likely meant she trusted him to do the right thing for Supergirl. Feeling a pang of doubt, Martian Manhunter stepped aside, and with a flash of blue lightning, Su Sheng was gone, taking Supergirl with him.
High above the earth, bathed in the full light of the sun, Su Sheng cradled the unconscious Supergirl, who appeared incredibly fragile in her weakened state.
