Boom!
Alex, clad in her battle suit, flew off the balcony.
On the sofa, Su Sheng's lips curled into a smirk.
The Kryptonians of this world were indeed weak. This Nuclear Man was nothing more than an ordinary person wearing armor capable of releasing nuclear energy and flying. Yet he had managed to hold his own against Superman for several rounds and nearly killed him? The Kryptonians in this world had been significantly weakened. The absurdity didn't stop there—the Nuclear Man harbored hatred for Superman because he couldn't save his wife during a nuclear explosion, and now he wanted Superman to lose a loved one too. Supergirl was his prime target.
Such twisted logic was simply ridiculous!
If Superman hadn't been there, his wife would have perished along with millions of others. Superman saved countless lives, but the Nuclear Man despised him for not saving his wife. Once again, this highlighted how thankless being a hero could be.
Maybe it was time to help Superman break free from the burdens of heroism?
A showdown between Superman and Supergirl?
Now that could be interesting. With Superman aligning himself with the criminals in Rodsburg, Supergirl backed by ARGUS, and the Martian Manhunter aiding her, things could get explosive. Perhaps more aliens would be drawn into the chaos, and maybe Indigo would make an appearance. If ARGUS couldn't track her down, Su Sheng might just have a plan to draw her out.
As Su Sheng contemplated these possibilities, Supergirl and Alex returned. When Alex arrived, she found Supergirl struggling against the Nuclear Man. With Alex's arrival, the two quickly subdued him, with most of the credit going to Alex. As an experienced agent, and with the powerful steel suit Su Sheng had given her—even without tachyons—she managed to knock the Nuclear Man unconscious and secure him at ARGUS for detention.
Alex was thrilled!
She had finally been able to help Kara and no longer had to envy her sister's abilities.
But Kara's mood was somber; she was suddenly feeling lost.
To others, she was merely Superman's cousin, not an independent hero. This time, she had been rescued by Alex and together they defeated the Nuclear Man. The experience left her feeling dejected, and after returning home, she quickly gathered herself to face Su Sheng.
Of course, Alex had made an excuse, claiming she had driven off to pick up Kara.
The situation was becoming more interesting.
Kara thought she and Alex had successfully deceived Su Sheng, while Su Sheng and Alex were deceiving Kara as well, each playing their part perfectly.
"It's getting late. I think it's time for me to go," Su Sheng said after chatting for a while, standing up.
"I'll see you out," Kara offered.
"Okay." Su Sheng smiled, said goodbye to Alex, and followed Kara downstairs.
"I'm really sorry about earlier. Alex and I left you all alone at home," Kara said apologetically as they stood by Su Sheng's car.
"It's fine," Su Sheng replied with a smile, noticing that Alex seemed to be watching them from the window. He gently hugged Kara and leaned in for a kiss.
Kara was stunned—this was their first kiss.
For a moment, she was dazed, but soon she found herself responding, leaning into the kiss. After a long moment, they finally separated, and Kara's cheeks flushed.
"Goodbye."
"Yeah, drive safe."
They exchanged goodbyes, and Su Sheng drove off.
Not long after he left, Su Sheng sensed someone following him from the air. He turned his car into a secluded area and watched as a figure descended from the sky.
Boom!
Dust kicked up as Alex landed, retracting her battle suit. Su Sheng chuckled as he stepped out of the car. "You came to find me so soon? Did I turn you?"
Alex had always gravitated more toward women, likely a consequence of her formative experiences. She hadn't fully acknowledged her orientation yet, but one day, after encountering another woman who caught her attention, she would come to realize she wasn't straight.
"You said my father's death was connected to Director Hank Henshaw. Is that true?" Alex demanded, her voice tense.
"That's your reward for doing so well. Whether you believe it or not is up to you," Su Sheng replied, approaching Alex with a grin. He pushed her gently against the wall, the proximity making Alex uncomfortable.
"Step aside!"
"I have a way for you to verify it," Su Sheng said with a sly smile.
"What way?" Alex asked, her mind muddled.
Instead of answering, Su Sheng leaned in slowly, and Alex realized what he was about to do. Despite her hesitation and resistance, she eventually closed her eyes, feeling his hands roam freely over her, making her feel sick.
"Enough!"
"Just tell me how I can verify it!" Alex, unable to bear it any longer, shoved Su Sheng away.
"Go ask your mother," Su Sheng said with a smirk before turning and getting back into his car.
Alex was stunned.
Ask her mother? If her father's death was indeed linked to Hank Henshaw, did her mother know the truth?
Donning her suit once more, Alex made up her mind to go back and ask her mother.
After that encounter, Alex avoided Su Sheng for several days, as if she was deliberately keeping her distance. Meanwhile, Su Sheng's relationship with Kara had deepened since their kiss. Though Kara still spent most of her time as Supergirl, even solving a train bombing case, she remained conflicted about her role. The growing closeness between her and Su Sheng made it easier for her to open up to him. Their relationship progressed naturally, evolving into something more, without any grand gestures. They simply became a couple, naturally confirming their status as boyfriend and girlfriend.
Alex's house was repaired, and she moved out of Kara's.
In the dimly lit living room of Kara's home, with soft music playing in the background, the two of them embraced, dancing gently. The atmosphere was becoming increasingly intimate.
"You look stunning tonight," Su Sheng whispered.
"Do I really?" Kara asked shyly, only for Su Sheng to respond with a passionate kiss.
After a while, they parted.
Su Sheng lifted Kara into his arms, his eyes burning with desire.
"Ah… What are you doing?" Kara asked, panicked.
Su Sheng chuckled. "Einstein once said, 'If a person doesn't go crazy when kissing a beautiful girl, then he isn't giving her the attention she deserves!'"
