The arrival of Wonder Woman instantly eased the pressure on Superman. Diana sprang into action, sliding beneath Doomsday. With a powerful strike, she used her shield to sweep Doomsday's legs out from under him, toppling the monstrous creature to the ground. The Vulcan Sword in her right hand flashed as she slashed downwards.
Slash!
A deep gash appeared on Doomsday's leg, but before it could react, Superman delivered a crushing blow from above, driving it back into the earth.
Yet the wound healed almost immediately.
Doomsday retaliated by blasting Superman with heat vision before rolling over and grabbing a nearby car, hurling it towards Diana with effortless strength.
The car, like a mere toy in its hands, seemed enormous as it hurtled towards Diana.
With a swift motion, the Vulcan Sword cleaved the car in two, and Diana surged forward.
As Wonder Woman and Superman engaged in a fierce battle with Doomsday, Batman found himself, as in the movie, unable to contribute directly due to his lack of kryptonite. His role became even more marginal this time around. Despite being unable to fight Doomsday, Batman wasn't idle. He made his way to Su Sheng, who had already sat up from the ground, watching the intense battle unfold with great interest.
"Sit down," Su Sheng said casually, noticing Batman's approach.
Batman hesitated but eventually sat down beside Su Sheng. "Who is that woman?"
"Wonder Woman. She's also the new God of War," Su Sheng replied with a chuckle.
"A god?" Batman echoed, stunned. "Are gods real?"
"Of course. This world is far more interesting than you realize," Su Sheng replied.
"So, are you a god too?" Batman demanded.
"Me? No, I'm not a god, and I have no interest in becoming one," Su Sheng shook his head, then glanced at Batman. "Wonder Woman is just an old god, but things will get really interesting when the new gods arrive on Earth. I'd suggest upgrading your equipment—get some decent armor or something. If you're interested, I can help you."
"What if they can't defeat this monster?" Batman asked, momentarily distracted by talk of old and new gods but still focused on the immediate problem. "I've learned a bit about Kryptonians from LexCorp, and Superman mentioned that this monster was created using technology from his planet, so..."
Before Batman could finish, Alfred's voice crackled in his earpiece. The butler, assisting from the Batcave, had intercepted an important message. He now understood the conditions Su Sheng had previously set for the military and what they planned to do.
"You... you created a monster capable of destroying the world just to make Superman wear his underwear?" Batman stared at Su Sheng in disbelief.
Su Sheng shrugged noncommittally. "To be honest, I haven't found you particularly entertaining lately, but I'll get to you when I think of something."
"You're crazier than a lunatic I know!" Batman muttered.
"The Joker?" Su Sheng asked with a casual laugh.
Batman was about to respond when a streak of yellow lightning zipped towards them from the distance.
Swish!
Dust kicked up around them as Batman waved a hand to clear the air, coughing slightly. Standing before him was a man in a red suit.
"Who's this?" Batman muttered.
"What are you doing here?" Su Sheng asked lazily, addressing The Flash.
Barry Allen had shown up.
Since the death of Reverse-Flash, Barry Allen had been without a primary enemy. He hadn't ventured to Earth-2, nor had he triggered the Flashpoint event. Unable to ignore the massive disturbance in Metropolis, he must have come to help. A hero is like a brick—place him wherever he's needed.
Barry Allen glanced at Su Sheng and Batman without a word, then turned and sped towards Doomsday. The yellow lightning surrounding Doomsday momentarily stunned both Superman and Diana. The sight of the lightning made Superman feel a strange sense of familiarity, while the incredible speed made Diana recall something.
Could this be the Flash that Su Sheng had mentioned before he left?
Circle, circle.
As The Flash circled Doomsday, the speed force began to generate electrical energy in his hands. He prepared to strike, aiming to throw Doomsday off balance, but Doomsday reacted suddenly.
Uh...
In an instant, Doomsday grabbed The Flash by the neck.
His eyes widened in horror—how could it be possible? How could Doomsday keep up with his speed?
Doomsday slammed The Flash into the ground.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
After several brutal impacts, Doomsday hurled The Flash aside.
Crash!
The Flash hit the ground hard, skidding to a stop. He tried to move, but his bones felt shattered; no matter how much he struggled, he couldn't get up.
"The face-slapped king didn't disappoint me," Su Sheng said, clapping his hands and laughing as he turned to Batman. "He rushed in just to hand Doomsday his head!"
Batman looked bewildered but then got up as if he was about to leave.
He needed to stop the military from capturing Superman's adoptive mother, Martha!
It wasn't just because his mother's name was also Martha; he knew what Martha meant to Superman. Even if the military succeeded in making Superman compromise, what then?
No one likes being blackmailed.
Especially not Superman, who had already faced threats from research and aliens!
"Superman, can you hear me? This is General Swanwick. I'm about to drop Item 807. I hope you can use it to deal with Doomsday," came the voice of General Swanwick.
The voice wasn't loud, certainly not as loud as the earlier music, but it was clear enough for everyone to hear.
Superman looked up in the direction of the plane and saw a metal box falling from it. Was it kryptonite? A secret weapon against Doomsday? Superman flew over and caught the box, his heart pounding with anticipation as he opened it.
"..."
Superman's face twisted with fury. His hands clenched, turning blue, and his eyes glowed red as he contemplated burning the item inside.
It was a pair of red underwear...
"Ms. Martha Kent hopes you can be a hero," General Swanwick's voice echoed from the plane.
"Bastard!" Superman roared, his voice shaking the air.
With a sharp movement, Superman ripped the plane's canopy off with his bare hands and glared at the communication system as the pilot watched in horror. "How dare you threaten me with my mother!"
"Superman, I hope you understand the gravity of the situation," General Swanwick replied calmly. "If Doomsday isn't dealt with, everything could be destroyed—the United States, the world, me... and Martha."
