Reverse-Flash maintained a calm exterior, but inside, his mind was in turmoil. Su Sheng had found Harrison Wells' body? Once it was examined, his true identity would be exposed. How did this man know so much? Even if Su Sheng, like him, was from the future, it shouldn't be possible for him to know such precise details. Was he bluffing?
Reverse-Flash looked at Su Sheng with a wary, half-smiling expression and noticed Caitlin Snow avoiding his gaze.
He had made up his mind.
Su Sheng wasn't bluffing; Caitlin Snow must have already verified the body.
"Damn it!" Reverse-Flash muttered under his breath as he slowly removed his glasses, his previously indifferent eyes now sharp and menacing. To the shock of everyone present, Reverse-Flash rose from his wheelchair.
"Dr. Wells, you…" Sisko Ramon and Barry Allen were stunned as they watched Harrison Wells stand up, as if he had been faking his injury all along. Could it be true? Was he really Reverse-Flash?
With a somber expression, Reverse-Flash clapped his hands softly. "I never regret my actions, but I do regret provoking you. I'm curious—just who are you?"
"Does it matter?" Su Sheng asked with a grin.
"It doesn't. Because anyone who stands in my way of returning home is my enemy!" Reverse-Flash cast a cold glance at Su Sheng before turning his gaze to the bewildered Barry Allen. "I've had countless chances to kill you, but instead, I saved you, helped you, made you faster. It was all so I could return home and leave this cursed world. You could have everything you wanted. But now..."
Reverse-Flash reached into his pocket, pulling out a ring and slowly sliding it onto his finger. His eyes glowed with a red Speed Force energy.
Swish!
Red lightning flashed, and a yellow suit shot out from the ring. In a split second, Reverse-Flash was dressed in his iconic uniform.
"Why? Why did you kill my mother?" Barry Allen demanded, his voice trembling with anger as he watched Reverse-Flash suit up.
"I didn't intend to kill her. I came to kill you," Reverse-Flash replied, shaking his head.
Barry froze, as if struck by lightning.
"Our game…starts now!" Reverse-Flash sneered at Su Sheng. "I admit, I don't know who you are or how you possess the Speed Force and are so fast, but that's fine. You're going to help me get home."
"I don't think so!" Su Sheng chuckled. "You seem so confident—what else do you have up your sleeve?"
"Trust me, I've gone to great lengths to ensure my return home." Reverse-Flash smirked as a violent rumbling echoed through the building, as if some massive creature was approaching.
In the next moment, Su Sheng felt a sudden mental attack.
It felt like some kind of mind control.
"This is Reverse-Flash's backup plan? Mind control… Could this be Grodd?" Su Sheng thought as he quickly activated his power, copying the ability and amplifying it five times over.
In an instant, Su Sheng found himself in control of another being's consciousness. How could he describe this feeling? It was like playing a role-playing game, where he could dictate every action and word of the other being.
Reverse-Flash, you've just given me a gift!
Su Sheng smiled to himself as he manipulated the other entity.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The ground shook with each step, and Caitlin Snow, Sisko Ramon, and Barry Allen stared nervously at the doorway. A moment later, a massive figure filled their view.
A giant gorilla appeared.
"Caitlin, Sisko, you remember Grodd, don't you?" Reverse-Flash said, pride evident in his voice.
"Grodd? That's Grodd?" Sisko Ramon asked in surprise.
"Who is Grodd?" Barry Allen asked, eyes wide as he took in the sight of the giant gorilla.
"Before the particle accelerator explosion, S.T.A.R. Labs collaborated with General Wade Eiling to develop psychic abilities for military interrogation, and Grodd was one of the test subjects. But then Wells… he stopped the project, deeming it too cruel. When the particle accelerator exploded, Grodd disappeared. I never imagined… I never imagined he'd grow so large. He must have been affected by the explosion," Caitlin Snow explained in awe.
"I had plenty of time to plan since I knew the future. I saved Grodd and kept him in the lab, letting the particle accelerator's explosion grant him mind-control abilities. Originally, I planned to have him control Barry to help me open a path home, but now… I have a better option!" Reverse-Flash triumphantly walked up to Su Sheng. "He's my best choice!"
"Sisko, you'll need to build a time machine. I've already gathered the materials and blueprints—get started as soon as possible." Reverse-Flash, confident that Su Sheng was under his control, produced several blue-glass objects from the future that pulsed with immense energy. "Barry, place these. I'm going to restart the particle accelerator!"
"Oh, and one more thing."
"The tachyon device from Mercury Labs—you'll need to fetch that," Reverse-Flash said to Su Sheng.
But Su Sheng didn't move.
"Grodd?" Reverse-Flash called out.
Grodd took a few slow steps forward, then suddenly swung his massive arm at Reverse-Flash.
Boom!
The powerful blow sent Reverse-Flash crashing into the wall. Stunned, he groaned as he got back to his feet. "Grodd, what are you doing? I'm your father!"
The gorilla hesitated, but then swung at Reverse-Flash again.
"I take back what I said earlier about kneeling and calling me dad. I didn't expect you to take the role of an orangutan's father so seriously," Su Sheng quipped, smirking.
Reverse-Flash's plan had backfired spectacularly. He had intended to use Grodd to control Su Sheng, but now it was clear that Su Sheng was the one in control of Grodd.
Everyone in the lab stared in shock. Su Sheng wasn't under mind control at all. Instead, he had somehow managed to turn Grodd against his own creator.
