Harrison Wells couldn't bring himself to believe that Barry Allen had just encountered his mother's killer—especially since he was the one responsible for the murder. However, he did believe that Barry might have met another speedster, which intrigued him greatly. The prospect of another individual with Speed Force abilities posed numerous questions. Was this speedster's power derived from the same particle explosion that had given Barry his abilities? Could this new speedster's existence be of some benefit to Harrison Wells?
Harrison Wells meticulously questioned Barry Allen about his encounter with the speedster and even reviewed the surveillance footage from the area where the incident occurred. Unfortunately, the footage had conveniently malfunctioned at that exact moment, leaving them with no visual evidence. With no immediate leads, Barry Allen had no choice but to leave the cutting-edge laboratory, disappointed.
Caitlin Snow followed shortly after, deep in thought. The more she reflected on Barry's description, the more she began to suspect that the speedster might be Su Sheng. Although Su Sheng had never displayed super speed before, the timing was suspicious. He had appeared just as this new speedster emerged, and he also knew about Barry Allen. Despite the fact that Su Sheng had previously deceived her—whether by kidnapping her for sonic equipment or involving her in his schemes—Caitlin couldn't bring herself to believe that Su Sheng was a villain capable of murder. After all, Barry's mother had been dead for over a decade; how could someone so young have been involved?
When she finally arrived home, Caitlin Snow anxiously glanced at the door from time to time, waiting for Su Sheng to arrive.
As the night grew deeper, the clock ticked past nine. The television was on, but she had muted the sound, making the passing time seem even longer.
Bang, bang, bang!
A sudden knock on the door startled Caitlin Snow, and she hurried to open it.
"You're finally here," she said, relieved to see Su Sheng standing at the door.
Su Sheng smiled, holding up a bottle of red wine. "Took a bit longer than expected."
"I need to check your body, so no alcohol," Caitlin replied, trying to sound stern.
"You can have some after the examination!" Su Sheng teased, stepping inside and looking around.
The apartment was uniquely arranged. There seemed to be only one bedroom, but the living room was spacious, with a lab table in the corner and a few machines—fitting for someone like Caitlin Snow.
"You live here alone?" Su Sheng asked casually.
"You did say I'm suited to being single," Caitlin Snow quipped, recalling one of his earlier comments.
Su Sheng chuckled, noting her mood seemed lighter than the last time they met, despite her recent loss. "Is there a guy named Ronnie Raymond at the lab?"
"How do you know so much about the cutting-edge laboratory?" Caitlin Snow asked, puzzled, before adding, "Ronnie did work there, but on the night of the particle explosion, he risked his life to save the lab. He… didn't make it."
"He was a hero," Caitlin Snow added with a hint of sadness.
"So, you two weren't involved romantically?" Su Sheng asked curiously. After all, in the TV series, Ronnie Raymond was Caitlin Snow's fiancé and one-half of the first Firestorm, along with Martin Stein.
"Our personalities didn't quite match," Caitlin Snow admitted, shaking her head.
"Oh."
Su Sheng didn't press further and instead smiled. "Should we start the examination now? Do I need to take my clothes off?"
"No, just your shorts will do," Caitlin Snow said, trying to maintain a professional demeanor despite her blushing cheeks.
"Alright," Su Sheng agreed, curious about his condition as well.
He stripped down to his shorts and began undergoing a series of routine tests under Caitlin's instructions. The examination took over an hour to complete. "From what I can see, you're in excellent health. There are no issues, but the DNA test results will take some time to process," Caitlin said, removing the equipment.
Su Sheng nodded, removing the last of the testing gear, and made his way to the sofa to wait.
"Aren't you going to put your clothes back on?" Caitlin Snow asked hesitantly.
"Don't act like you're not impressed. With a body like mine, it's hard to keep covered," Su Sheng teased with a laugh.
Caitlin Snow rolled her eyes but couldn't help the blush that crept across her face. "I need to ask you something… Do you have super speed? I saw Barry Allen earlier today."
"Yes," Su Sheng replied nonchalantly.
"Really?" Caitlin Snow asked in surprise.
"Don't believe me?" Su Sheng smirked and suddenly activated his Speed Force, causing red lightning to flash around Caitlin Snow. Before she could react, he had already returned to his original spot, holding something in his hand.
"This… this dress looks familiar," Caitlin Snow muttered, recognizing the garment. She looked down and immediately tried to cover herself.
"Isn't that what you were just wearing?"
"When… how… how did you do that?" Caitlin Snow stammered, completely unaware of how quickly Su Sheng had moved.
"Why are you trying to cover up? You're still wearing your underwear. And even if I wanted to see more, do you think you could stop me? You didn't even notice I moved," Su Sheng teased with a mischievous smile.
"Who says I wouldn't notice?" Caitlin Snow retorted without thinking.
"It hurts?" Su Sheng asked with a playful grin.
Caitlin Snow's face flushed as she realized what she had just implied. "You're so childish, using your abilities for this kind of thing."
"Abilities are meant to be used, not just admired," Su Sheng replied casually.
"How did you get super speed? And… did you… did you kill Barry Allen's mother?" Caitlin Snow hesitated before asking.
"Is it because my Speed Force is red?" Su Sheng asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Yes," Caitlin Snow nodded, feeling awkward.
"Don't worry, it wasn't me," Su Sheng chuckled.
"That's a relief," Caitlin Snow sighed, visibly relaxing.
Su Sheng casually placed Caitlin's clothes back on the table and poured himself a glass of wine. "Funny how you were more concerned about whether I killed Barry's mother than whether I had super speed."
Before Caitlin could respond, a beeping sound interrupted them. "The results are in!" Caitlin Snow exclaimed, turning to check the test results on her computer.
She frowned slightly as she reviewed the data. "That's odd…"
"Is there a problem?" Su Sheng asked, joining her at the computer.
"No, your physical condition and DNA are completely normal, just like any ordinary person. But that's strange. You were able to generate electricity before, and now you have super speed. Under normal circumstances, your genes should have changed," Caitlin Snow said, her confusion evident.
Author's Note: There's a theory that when you use the Speed Force, you actually enter a sort of time differential. The outside world appears to move quickly, but your perception remains normal. For example, if the Flash runs around the Earth in a few seconds, those few seconds in the real world could feel like hours to him. This is why the Flash doesn't use the Speed Force as often as he could—because for him, the experience can be incredibly long and drawn out.
