The night was pitch black, and the silence was pierced by high-pitched sounds coming from Valentina's mansion. The noise was so loud and unabashed that it was impossible to sleep.
Valentina clutched the sheets tightly, her face flushed with anger.
"Is this what you meant by making my evening happier? This is the greatest humiliation!" Valentina gritted her teeth, staring at the wall in front of her. The noise was coming from behind it.
Yes.
Su Sheng wasn't even in her room.
Valentina had expected something to happen after Su Sheng's flirtatious behavior earlier. Although she hadn't intended to let him succeed before uncovering more about his identity, the fact that Su Sheng had taken Riley straight to another room left her seething.
It was an insult to her charm.
Meanwhile, Riley had proven to be the best of Su Sheng's partners so far—satisfying him before sleep, ensuring a peaceful rest, and now even offering a rather unique wake-up call. After struggling for over an hour, Su Sheng finally got out of bed.
After a quick shower, Su Sheng dressed and headed to the living room.
As he entered, he saw Valentina, looking furious, and a bearded man who resembled a savage.
"Vandal Savage," Su Sheng greeted him without surprise. Then, he turned to Valentina. "Honey, could you get me a glass of milk? I think I could use the energy."
Valentina, displeased, got up and left.
"Don't you have anything to say?" Vandal Savage asked with a smile, watching Su Sheng take a seat.
"Not really."
Su Sheng, still groggy from his morning workout, had no interest in conversation.
"I think you should," Vandal Savage's tone grew cold, carrying a hint of menace.
Su Sheng looked at him, then hesitated before saying, "Morning... good morning?"
"..."
"You must be a liar. If you were truly a time traveler, you would know who I am and what to do with me," Vandal Savage said, slowly drawing a dagger as if by magic. "I'll give you one more chance..."
"How long does it take you to resurrect?" Su Sheng suddenly asked.
Vandal Savage paused.
"Is ten minutes enough? Maybe I'll feel like chatting in ten minutes, so why don't you die for ten minutes first?"
"I don't think you're capable!" Vandal Savage hurled the dagger at Su Sheng.
The speed was incredible.
At such a short distance, Vandal Savage was confident the dagger would strike faster than a bullet.
But before the dagger could reach its target, Su Sheng caught it effortlessly.
"See you in ten minutes!" Su Sheng said lazily, pointing at Vandal Savage.
Boom!
A flash of electricity shot out, striking Vandal Savage. Though the current wasn't large, it was powerful enough to pierce his heart, leaving a hole in the sofa and revealing the floor behind it.
Crash!
The sound of breaking glass drew Su Sheng's attention. Valentina stood in shock nearby, a shattered glass at her feet and spilled milk on the floor.
"Why are you panicking? You know he can resurrect," Su Sheng frowned and pointed at the spilled milk. "Was that milk for me?"
"Y-Yes..." Valentina stammered. Although she knew Vandal Savage could resurrect, she'd never seen it happen, and the suddenness of it all was overwhelming.
She had anticipated a tense discussion with Vandal Savage, but she never expected him to be killed so easily. And what was that lightning? Was it Su Sheng's ability?
"It's a shame to waste it!" Su Sheng sighed, then looked at Valentina. "This glass is yours. Don't waste it."
"Mine? But it's spilled on the floor," Valentina replied instinctively.
"Yes, which is why you shouldn't waste it," Su Sheng said with a serious smile.
Valentina's expression darkened.
How could she drink milk that had spilled on the floor?
Valentina didn't have any pets, but she knew how they drank.
"I can pour you another glass," Valentina suggested, her face stiff.
"Are you sure about that?"
Su Sheng slowly raised his hand, electricity crackling between his fingers.
"You don't have to do this," Valentina protested.
"It's shameful to waste," Su Sheng replied, the electricity growing more intense as if ready to be unleashed.
Reluctantly, Valentina crouched down.
"Master, what is she doing?" Riley asked quietly as she approached Su Sheng, fresh from her bath.
"A small punishment. Just a bit of fun while we wait for ten minutes," Su Sheng chuckled. "Why don't you head to the kitchen and pour me a fresh glass of milk?"
"Okay," Riley agreed, heading to the kitchen.
"Is that good enough?" Valentina asked angrily after a while.
Su Sheng was about to respond when he heard a roar nearby. He turned to see Vandal Savage back on his feet, the wound in his chest fully healed.
"Already? That wasn't even ten minutes, and I missed seeing how you came back to life. Guess you'll just have to die again."
As Vandal Savage charged at him, Su Sheng raised his hand, and a bolt of lightning struck the savage once more, sending him to the floor.
This time, Su Sheng kept a close eye on Vandal Savage's body. When Vandal Savage attacked, Su Sheng had copied his ability, and now he was curious to see how the resurrection process worked. After all, immortality and resurrection were fascinating abilities, though Su Sheng remained unimpressed.
Immortality wasn't particularly appealing to him. After all, there weren't many who could kill him. For Su Sheng, such abilities were just interesting—if not outright boring.
PS: Continuing the mini-lecture: Vandal Savage is the main villain in Legends of Tomorrow Season 1. He possesses an immortal body and is a formidable foe in the comics. At one point, he stole Batman's contingency plans to defeat the Justice League and even succeeded, though he was later captured. However, Batman left the Justice League afterward. With the wealth accumulated from his immortality, Vandal Savage could easily outmatch anyone in human history.
