These days, if you don't have followers, you might as well not call yourself a superhero. The Superman family, the Bat family, the Flash family, and the Wonder Woman family are all standard setups for popular heroes. Without a team or a sidekick, it's hard to tell who's who anymore. Even Green Arrow, who copied Batman's style, has ended up with his own Green Arrow family—Red Arrow, Speedy, Arsenal, and others, all popping up one after the other. Can you believe it?
Donna Troy belongs to the Wonder Woman family. Apart from Diana, she's the most well-known. Her origin story is as convoluted as a "little tadpole looking for her mother" tale. It's been revised so many times that there's hardly anything left of the original. Even Su Sheng couldn't guess where she came from before actually meeting her.
So, is this what you call popularity?
Su Sheng pulled Riley close, resting his chin on her shoulder as he watched the fierce battle between Wonder Woman—who he suspected was Donna Troy—and Ares, the god of war. Donna Troy's most famous origin story involves her being created by a sorceress from Paradise Island, using a magical mirror to duplicate Diana. As a replica, Donna Troy developed her own personality. During her childhood, she was mistakenly abducted by the Dark Angel, who believed her to be Diana, and was placed in a tragically endless cycle of reincarnation. It was only years later that Wonder Woman Diana, Hippolyta, and the Flash team managed to save her.
Because Donna Troy possesses most of Wonder Woman Diana's abilities, she calls herself Wonder Woman and uses similar equipment. She is a disciple of the Justice League and one of the founding members of the "Teen Titans," a group composed of sidekicks. She even briefly held the title of Wonder Woman during Diana's years in seclusion.
In the post-Justice League era, when the new generation pushed the old guard off the stage, Robin—Batman's former sidekick who later took the name Nightwing—invited her to join the Justice League. Together, they defeated Prometheus, the villain who had taken down the Green Arrow family.
Even if they're playing at being copies, Green Arrow's crew clearly isn't up to snuff!
And how could a man just accept being second-best?
Meanwhile, Riley had clearly forgotten the fear of being played too hard. Since she didn't have super vision and couldn't see what was happening in the distance, her attention naturally shifted to Su Sheng behind her. Her trembling hands sent shockwaves through Su Sheng, whose multi-sensory abilities were on overdrive. Seeing his strong reaction, Riley only became more excited. She didn't know why Diana had left or what was happening far away. All she knew was that she could satisfy Su Sheng!
Far away, amidst the fiery explosions, Ares gently waved his fingers, causing the ground to tremble. The next moment, the earth seemed to rise up in waves, heading straight for the other combatant—whether Wonder Woman or Wonder Girl. She dodged quickly, but after a few evasive moves, she fell to the ground due to the disparity in strength. Then, an iron plate, seemingly from nowhere, slammed down on her, pinning her to the ground.
"You're from Paradise Island, but you're not Diana. Who are you?" growled Ares, the god of war, who looked as though he could transform into a werewolf at any moment.
"Donna Troy, the one who will defeat you!" she gritted her teeth, struggling to break free, but it was in vain.
"If you're not my sister, then…" Ares raised his hand, and a distant car hurtled toward Donna Troy.
Donna Troy instinctively closed her eyes, but instead of the expected impact, she heard a loud bang, followed by waves of heat.
"What?"
Realizing she hadn't been hit, Donna Troy opened her eyes to see a tall, brave woman clad in Amazonian armor standing before her, shield raised.
"Are you Diana?" Donna Troy asked in surprise.
Diana glanced at Donna Troy before slamming her shield down.
Boom!
The iron plate shattered, allowing Donna Troy to roll free.
"What's your name?" Diana asked, her gaze fixed on Ares.
"Donna Troy. I was sent by Queen Hippolyta to kill Ares, the god of war," Donna Troy replied.
So, it really does have something to do with my mother...
Diana paused slightly as she recalled Su Sheng's analysis, then looked at Ares with renewed determination.
"Ares, I must defeat you to restore peace and kindness to humanity and prevent the birth of a god-killing crisis!" Diana declared solemnly.
Ares sneered, his gaze shifting between Diana with her shield and Donna Troy with her silver lasso. "War stems from human choices. I merely whisper in their ears, urging them to create stronger weapons, but I never force them to use them."
"They chose war themselves."
"It was humans who destroyed the natural, peaceful, and beautiful Earth. Diana, my sister, join me. Let's take back the Earth from humans and restore its natural beauty." Ares extended his hand toward Diana, hopeful.
"You will never succeed!" Diana shook her head firmly.
Ares laughed, his laughter growing increasingly twisted and cold. "Just you?"
"That's right!" Donna Troy shouted as she hurled the silver lasso at Ares, while Diana charged at him with her shield.
Snap!
The silver rope wrapped around Ares' hand, and Diana closed in on him.
A sneer flickered across Ares' lips as he stomped the ground. The earth beneath Diana surged up, sending her flying. At the same time, Ares yanked on the silver lasso with all his might.
Boom!
Donna Troy, who was pulled off her feet, collided with Diana mid-air. With a groan, the two of them quickly got up and rushed at Ares again. But Ares, the god of war, was about to teach them the difference in strength between them.
It was pure brutality!
Diana was sent flying one moment, Donna Troy the next, and sometimes both at once.
They couldn't even get a hit in!
"This is intense!" Su Sheng, who had been watching the entire fight, shivered with excitement. Without sparing a glance at Riley—who was now slumped against the window, completely worn out—he hurriedly found his clothes, then jumped out of the window to join the fray.
