The police found it hard to believe Frank's account, but with no concrete evidence to explain the mysterious appearance of the thunder, and Anthony Vensa's body missing, they had no choice but to classify the incident as a natural occurrence. Strangely enough, even Anthony Vensa's brother corroborated Frank's story, leaving the authorities with no other option. No one even considered linking the event to Su Sheng, including the powerful organization known as A.R.G.U.S. (formerly known as the Suicide Squad).
After the incident, A.R.G.U.S. decided to temporarily cut off contact with Su Sheng. Perhaps due to their connection to Laurel Lance, they believed that this approach would allow them to observe Su Sheng more effectively. So far, this strategy seemed to be working.
Laurel was now equipped with a uniform from Wayne Enterprises and a piece of sonic technology from S.T.A.R. Labs in Central City. Although the methods to acquire these were less than honorable, everything had been arranged by Su Sheng for Laurel's benefit. He had even brought in Gotham's infamous jewel thief, Catwoman, to train her in combat skills. With such attention to Laurel, A.R.G.U.S. was convinced of her importance to Su Sheng—even Laurel's mother, Dinah Lance, had her suspicions.
In response, A.R.G.U.S. doubled down on their strategy of non-confrontation after learning about the thunderous event at East Port.
The thunder incident had wider repercussions beyond just A.R.G.U.S. Helena had managed to capture a video of Frank shooting Anthony Vensa, but it wasn't enough. She needed more evidence, so she continued her charade with even greater fervor, to the point where even Su Sheng sometimes found it hard to distinguish between truth and pretense. But the results were clear: when Frank sought Su Sheng's help again, no one questioned Helena's presence, much less suspected that she was gathering evidence against her own father.
With each job Su Sheng did for Frank, he received a significant amount of money, which he used to buy a villa for Felicity. After all, she was his girlfriend, and the villa offered more privacy and convenience, especially when it came to teaming up with Black Canary in the future.
After the move, Su Sheng discreetly installed various pieces of equipment in the basement, turning it into a small command center.
In the master bedroom, after another "battle" had concluded, Felicity wiped her face and asked Su Sheng, who was already lying down, "The equipment in the base is set up. When are you going to introduce me to Laurel formally?"
"In the evening. I'll bring her over later," Su Sheng replied casually.
Felicity nodded and, lying in his arms, asked curiously, "By the way, what did you just ask me to delete?"
"Something that will make someone despair," Su Sheng replied with a sly grin.
With his assistance, Helena had gathered enough evidence to ensure Frank would spend the rest of his life in prison. But just as the hope of success was within reach, Su Sheng had asked Felicity to delete all the evidence.
Did Helena think Su Sheng didn't know she was using him to collect evidence while trying to win his favor to forgive her? Experiencing despair in the midst of hope—Su Sheng couldn't wait to see how Helena would react when she discovered that all the evidence she had painstakingly gathered had been erased. Would she fall into despair and numbness, abandoning her pursuit of justice, or would she rise above it, embracing her destiny as the Huntress?
Su Sheng found satisfaction in the process, in influencing someone's fate with a detached attitude and absolute power. Whether the result was interesting or boring, it was the journey that mattered to him.
After all, as someone who understood the world from an outsider's perspective, who possessed a detached mentality and absolute strength, why should he care about the opinions and perspectives of others? What was the point of being a traveler if one still cared about such trivial matters?
Taking a short break, Su Sheng showered with Felicity, then got dressed and drove out to pick up Laurel.
As his car slowly left the villa, a woman emerged from the nearby woods.
Dressed in dark leather with eagle-shaped armor, she whispered into her comms, "The target has left the villa. We can begin."
"Roger that, moving to intercept."
With those words, she shrugged her shoulders, and a pair of massive wings unfolded from her back. The woman took to the air, trailing Su Sheng's car.
A sudden tire blowout shattered the quiet of the road, and Su Sheng frowned as several figures appeared from the shadows.
Captain Cold (Leonard Snart), Heat Wave (Mick Rory), Atom (Ray Palmer), White Canary (Sara Lance), Firestorm (Jefferson Jackson & Martin Stein), Hawkman (Carter Hall), and Rip Hunter—the entire original lineup of the Legends of Tomorrow was standing before him.
"Malcolm Merlyn isn't dead yet, and Laurel hasn't even become the Black Canary. So why are they here?" Su Sheng blinked in surprise as he got out of the car. His eyes were drawn to a figure descending from the sky—Hawkgirl, Kendra Saunders.
The initial lineup of the Legends of Tomorrow had fully assembled, right before his eyes.
