Chapter 42 - Chapter 42: You Deserve to Be a Gangster

As night fell, the villa was brightly lit.

The bodies had already been cleared away, and Frank's wound was treated—it wasn't as serious as it initially seemed. He now sat on the sofa, bandaged and staring blankly at the suitcase on the coffee table. Despite his criminal background and leadership of a gang, Frank couldn't ignore the fact that his daughter was upstairs, while he waited downstairs, ready to hand over the money. The villa was quiet enough that any sounds from upstairs could easily be heard outside, but it was like they were all just pretending everything was normal.

The noise from upstairs gradually subsided, and after a while, Su Sheng came down, freshly showered, carrying a bag.

Frank, who had been sitting with a vacant expression, quickly put on a smile and greeted Su Sheng with enthusiasm, almost as if he was asking, "Did you enjoy my daughter?"

"Thank you for saving my life today. This is a small token of my appreciation," Frank said, pushing the suitcase toward Su Sheng and expressing his sincere thanks.

Su Sheng looked at him, momentarily surprised, before smiling. "Are you sure you're giving this to me, and not expecting something in return?"

"Of course," Frank nodded, affirming his intention.

"Well, I have to say, you really do live up to being a gangster," Su Sheng chuckled, clapping his hands in admiration. "You're so open about this, so I'll be straightforward too. I'm not taking Helena with me. I'll come for her when I need to. I'm not interested in protecting you every day, and frankly, you don't have the qualifications to demand that. So, before you bother me again, you'd better think it through. Understand?"

Frank originally intended to use his agreement with Su Sheng to eliminate his competitors and expand his power, but after hearing this, he fully understood the limitations. He nodded eagerly, assuring Su Sheng he understood.

Frank didn't care who Su Sheng really was or even the sacrifice of his own daughter. All he was focused on now was which competitor to target first and which opponent's downfall would benefit him the most.

But Frank's thoughts didn't concern Su Sheng. His only reason for helping Frank was to punish Helena. Once Su Sheng lost interest, everything Frank gained from using Su Sheng would be taken away. After all, even a death row inmate deserves a good meal before they meet their end.

Su Sheng left the villa with both the bag and the suitcase, getting into the car Frank had arranged for him.

When he arrived home, Felicity, who had just finished showering, greeted him.

"Is this the emperor's new clothes? I like the welcome, but you should probably wear something next time, just in case I bring someone back with me," Su Sheng teased.

"You always come back right when I finish showering, and besides, who could you possibly bring back?" Felicity responded casually, eyeing the items he was carrying. "What's that?"

Su Sheng handed her the items as he walked to the bedroom. "The bag has a uniform for Laurel, and the contents of the box are for you."

"For me?" Felicity asked, curiosity piqued. She opened the box and immediately gasped, closing it just as quickly, then rushed into the bedroom like a whirlwind. "Where did you get so much money? Did you do something dangerous again?"

"Don't worry, it was given to me," Su Sheng replied with a smile.

"Given to you? Who just gives away that much money for no reason? How much is even in there?" Felicity asked in disbelief.

Su Sheng thought for a moment. "I think it was a temporary job. Consider it my payment. I don't really need the money, but you're my girlfriend, so feel free to spend it. I didn't count it, but you can check it yourself."

Hearing that it was for a job, Felicity's curiosity waned as she counted the money. "Five million... There's five million dollars in here!" she exclaimed. Felicity considered asking what kind of job would pay that much but ultimately decided against it.

After all, her boyfriend wasn't just anyone—maybe it was a bonus from some secret mission. Felicity wasn't materialistic, but who wouldn't be thrilled with five million dollars? Grateful, she showed Su Sheng her appreciation in more ways than one, testing the limits of his endurance. Fortunately, Su Sheng's physique could handle it; otherwise, it might have been a bit overwhelming.

The next day, instead of taking time off to go shopping for bags, clothes, and shoes, Felicity revealed a different plan. "Let's move to a bigger, better house first. I'm tired of climbing stairs, and the space here is too small. I've also looked at some expensive equipment that can help you and Laurel more efficiently. Plus, we could buy two cars and keep the rest in case of emergencies."

Felicity had everything planned out, leaving Su Sheng with little to say.

When Felicity left for work, Su Sheng put on the uniform he had prepared for Laurel, intending to visit her new place. But just as he was about to leave, there was a knock on the door.

Did Felicity forget something?

Su Sheng opened the door to find a tall woman in a long black dress and stockings, smiling slightly. "It took a lot of effort to find you."

"Selina Kyle?" Su Sheng said, recognizing Catwoman. Suddenly, it all made sense why she was there.
