The loud and raucous shouting was deafening, as if in a chaotic wet market where you could not possibly discern what they were yelling about. All they could sense was the overwhelming excitement and fervor in those voices.
This is a prison. The long corridor is lined with rows of cells. At this moment, the prisoners in the cells are crowding around the bars, stretching out their hands and shouting with excitement, as if something new had appeared. Of course, not everyone was so thrilled. The cell at the far end of the corridor was eerily quiet.
This is a solitary cell, and the 'newcomer' inside has been here for less than half an hour.
"Although I know that some things happen quickly the first time, does it really have to be this fast? I at least wanted to experience it. It's inhumane to come back for a second time without any sensation, right?" he muttered angrily on the bed.
Don't get me wrong; this isn't referring to the transition from boyhood to manhood, nor is it a peculiar feature of a prison. It's a transmigration!
Such crossings are common in novels, but their likelihood in reality is quite low. Su Sheng is incredibly fortunate to have transmigrated into the Marvel universe he is familiar with and to have gained the ability of "Protégé."
Who is the Protégé?
In the Marvel universe, Protégé is akin to overpowered character. Though this individual has an ambiguous, androgynous appearance and is even nicknamed the "Cute Apprentice," his abilities are extraordinary.
The power of the Protégé is to copy anything and everything—be it abilities, matter, consciousness, or abstract forces. Once copied, he can infinitely stack the power, multiplying it by two, ten, a hundred, or even infinitely. Simply put, if you use any ability against him, he will defeat you. With this overwhelming power, the Protégé has vanquished the Living Tribunal, copied the powers of many great cosmic beings, and even claimed to have powers comparable to TOAA (The One Above All). However, due to his excessively broken abilities, he was ultimately defeated by the plot and sealed within the Living Tribunal.
Having acquired such an overpowered ability, Su Sheng thought he could freely wander about, but he never expected to suffer the same fate.
Drama kill!
Before he had the chance to understand the situation or replicate his abilities, the universe he was in was abruptly destroyed—gone in less than three minutes.
Su Sheng thought he would die, but instead, he was transmigrated again, directly into the cell of this prison. This is why he was lamenting the speed of his first experience.
It's unlikely anyone else has ever experienced such rapid transmigration, so Su Sheng waited for about half an hour, hoping to see if another cataclysm might occur.
But it seems that it won't.
"One time, two times. The first time is fast, and then it starts to drag. This is like the history of a man's growth!" Su Sheng grumbled, turning over and sitting up, ready to understand his new world.
The two transmigrations implied that his Disciples' abilities were still intact; it was merely the world that had changed. So, even though Su Sheng was in a cell, he was not particularly worried.
"The noise outside seems to have quieted down," Su Sheng observed. The corridor, which had been filled with the sounds of gongs, drums, and firecrackers, was now calm. Just as he was about to get up and approach the bars to see what was happening outside and if he could leave, two prison guards brought a woman to the front of his cell. She was clearly European or American.
"Why is there someone here? Wasn't this cell supposed to be empty?"
"Looks like an Asian guy was locked up without even changing his clothes. He must have crossed someone. Forget it, let's leave it alone."
"Is this really okay? After all..."
"Didn't you see her abilities just now? What's there to worry about?"
The two guards opened the cell door and shoved the detained woman inside, locked the door behind her, and left.
Having two prisoners in a solitary cell is unusual, but one male and one female... Bah, is this some sort of rookie benefit? Su Sheng muttered to himself and looked at the woman who had been locked in with him. His eyes lit up slightly.
She had long brown hair and wore it loose. Despite her baggy prison uniform, her perfect figure was evident. She stood tall and beautiful. Though her face was expressionless, she exuded a cold, captivating charm.
The most important thing was that Su Sheng recognized her identity!
"It really is a rookie benefit. Everyone else starts with a dog, and I get a cat, and not just any cat, but a wild and untamable one!"
