"Lancelot du Lac?" Athena repeated the name, sparks of divine wisdom flashing within her soul. "I'd almost forgotten the name 'Steel,' renowned for mist and thunder. The Steel God rumored to have become that man's vassal... it's you, isn't it?"
As she spoke, Athena's body grew taller, transforming from a young child into a young woman of seventeen or eighteen.
She lost her childish cuteness, becoming a vibrant and beautiful young woman, full of energy. Both her appearance and power increased dramatically.
A long-handled scythe with a jet-black blade materialized in her right hand. It was a weapon manifested from legends of the grim reaper's tool for harvesting lives in various mythologies.
The black scythe represented darkness and earth, a fitting weapon for the queen of the underworld.
Brunhild, astride her fiery steed, chuckled softly and slowly drew the slender sword from her waist. Her eyes burned with a fierce fire, the flames of battle lust. The Valkyrie was excited.
"Then, come at me, Lancelot du Lac! My mother and I will slay you here."
"My Lord... please forgive me for the offense of taking your remains with my own hands," Lancelot murmured softly. He sat calmly on his white horse, soaring through the sky, then shouted an incantation towards the heavens.
"Rend the ancient earth, pierce the sky, O falling star, divine blade, return now! To the hand of the Knight of the Lake, sound the horn once more upon the battlefield!"
"The mystic power of the oak, aid my uncle!" Guinevere's holy grail radiated a golden light. The white weapon clutched in Lancelot's hand began to emit a white-hot glow as the divine blade within it slowly awakened.
As the incandescent light enveloped the weapon, the divine sword Excalibur was born.
"The earth collapses, the ground splits! Witness the goddess's ferocious song of destruction!"
Athena chanted in a low voice. The once wide bridge suddenly crumbled, and the countless pillars beneath it transformed into hundreds of giant black pythons, soaring into the air.
The sudden change caught Lancelot somewhat off guard. He and his beloved steed were instantly entangled by the writhing serpents, their silver fangs bared as they threatened to devour both horse and rider.
"Mist Wind, Arise," Lancelot chanted softly, enveloped by the snakes.
A thick, white mist surged from his body, and the forms of the knight and his pegasus began to lose their color and shape.
The mist continued to pour out, growing denser, like a heavy fog rolling over the sea. Visibility dropped to less than a meter.
"...Uncle, I wish you good fortune in battle!"
Guinevere used a flight spell and quickly retreated to a safer location.
As Lancelot transformed into mist, he murmured, watching Guinevere depart.
"Goddess Athena and that Fallen Steel, Perseus... two Gods. This is troublesome."
The power to transform into mist was the immortality he possessed as the Steel God.
Mist could not be struck or cut. However, Athena was the ruler of the underworld, possessing supreme authority over matters of life and death.
She should also know how to bury "Steel," which possessed immortality. And that Fallen Steel commanded the sun, the bane of mist... But...
"However, it's your misfortune to encounter me. I am the unparalleled God of War, charging forth, trampling countless dragons and serpents. Blame your misfortune on being Earth Goddesses."
Lancelot and his pegasus, transformed into mist, soared high into the sky, flying into the thunderclouds Athena had summoned earlier for her attempted sneak attack. Lightning crackled within the dark clouds. Lancelot raised his weapon and spoke softly.
"To answer the prayers of my beloved child, to crush this worthy foe, I shall become lightning. My life, I entrust to this."
Lancelot slowly aimed the weapon at Athena below. Compared to Brunhild, who possessed the Steel Divinity, the divine sword was more effective against Athena, a pure Earth Goddess. It was always best to choose the easier target, wasn't it?
A white, divine horse galloped forth. Its target, the sea surface where Athena stood!
Lancelot and his steed transformed into a flash of lightning, an attack with the same destructive power as a massive meteorite falling from outer space. No, it 'was' a white meteorite.
Boom!
The white meteorite plummeted with lightning speed.
It was the holy hammer of divine judgment, a force that should not exist.
The white knight and his divine horse transformed into a descending god of destruction, hurtling towards the sea. In an instant, they reached Athena, thrusting the divine sword forward.
Boom!!!
A golden steed, dragging a miniature sun, collided violently with Lancelot, who had transformed into a speeding meteorite. The white meteorite was thrown back thousands of meters, creating towering waves dozens of meters high on the sea surface.
"I leave it to you, my beloved daughter," Athena said, transforming into a dense black mist that dispersed and pursued Guinevere.
"Prepare fine wine to await my victorious return, Mother," Brunhild replied with a faint smile. Her voice, filled with queenly arrogance, reached Athena's ears.
The golden-flamed steed reappeared beside Brunhild, and she leaped onto its back, galloping towards Lancelot.
The thrown-back pegasus kicked off the air with a thunderous boom, carrying Lancelot skyward. They dodged the miniature sun, which soared past them and continued on its trajectory, over mountains and rivers, until it broke through the atmosphere and entered outer space.
"Was I careless?" Lancelot murmured to his steed. Because of his all-out attack, he had overlooked the Valkyrie's movements at the crucial moment and was thrown back. For Lancelot, this was a rare mistake.
*Was I anxious because of the two goddesses and worried about my beloved daughter?* Lancelot wondered silently.
...
Then, he raised his weapon and thrust it backwards. The pegasus, in perfect coordination, turned around.
Clang! A metallic clang echoed through the air.
Lancelot's eyes widened in disbelief as he stared at the single finger before him.
The attack of the divine sword Excalibur had been stopped by a single finger.
"Gotcha" a voice said.
"It's strange. You knew I was nearby, but you didn't run. You stayed here like a fool, fighting Athena and the others, causing such a commotion. Did you think I wouldn't sense the divine power fluctuations?"
Haru focused his mind. The air around Lancelot solidified, its density suddenly increasing to a level far exceeding that of diamond, immobilizing him completely.
Haru clenched his right hand into a fist and brought it to his mouth, gently blowing on it.
"Ever seen a fist the size of a sandbag?"
Then, he punched Lancelot squarely in the chest.
