Lucius' heart raced in his chest as he waited anxiously for his father to answer.
"Come on, please pick up," he muttered, his voice tight with fear.
But still, there was no response.
His arms dropped to his sides, and a sinking feeling washed over him. 'Did something happen? No… please, no…'
Then, his phone rang.
He checked it hurriedly and exhaled in relief—it was his father.
"Dad! Where have you been? I've been trying to reach you all day!" Lucius blurted out the moment he picked up.
"That's because I've been out saving lives, son!" Danny replied, his tone light. "You've been calling nonstop, and that's completely out of character for you. Is there something you wanna tell me?"
Lucius took a deep breath, trying to calm himself. "Nothing… I just wanted to check on you. Your job is a risky one, you know that. I was worried."
Danny chuckled. "I've been doing this for over 15 years, Lucius. I'm fine, don't worry."
