Chapter 7 - Chapter 7 This is Professional Ethics

"Fuck, beat him up for me," the drunken man cursed fiercely and gave the order. Under his command, the five underlings charged towards Tangyu. Lin Feifei, seeing the menacing thugs, closed her eyes in fright and let out a sharp scream. However,

Lin Feifei soon felt her body moving involuntarily through the air as if she were being led in a dance. Unwittingly, her hand had clenched onto one that wasn't bulky but provided a reassuring sense of security.

Bang bang bang—

Sounds of clashing erupted, accompanied by cries of agony. Lin Feifei opened her eyes in surprise to see that the five ferocious thugs who had just been so intimidating were now all lying on the ground, moaning in pain. And all of this had occurred in just a few breaths' time.

Lin Feifei's astonished gaze turned to Tangyu, witnessing a scene that seemed straight out of a prime-time melodrama. From his calm yet resolute face, Lin Feifei perceived a quality unlike any other boy's, planting a strange new feeling about Tangyu in her heart.

By now, the drunken man had sobered up considerably, with a weird look on his face as he glanced at his five minions sprawled on the ground. Then he glared venomously at Tangyu, a sharp dagger suddenly appearing in his hand, gleaming coldly.

Seeing the drunken man pull out a dagger, Lin Feifei, who had just calmed down, clung fearfully to Tangyu again, gripping his hand tighter. The slight trembling coming from her palm was a clear sign of Lin Feifei's fear.

"Miss Lin, don't be afraid, I'm here," Tangyu reassured her with a glance, gripping her delicately soft hand. Truly, the hand of a rich young lady was well-cared-for, smooth and soft, as if boneless.

"Humph, kid, you think you're playing the hero, the knight in shining armor? You've messed with me today, and I'm going to make you regret it," the drunken man snarled with clenched teeth at Tangyu, swinging his dagger in the air to create a whistling sound. Suddenly, with a cold look in his eyes, he lunged at Tangyu with a swift step, thrusting the dagger forward, and a cold light slashed towards Tangyu's abdomen. Although the drunken man was vicious, he didn't aim for a vital spot.

Faced with the approaching cold light and the terrifying face, Lin Feifei was so scared that she embraced Tangyu tightly and threw herself onto him.

"Die, boy, for daring to ruin my day," the drunken man growled. But his expression soon turned to shock, as he found his dagger couldn't thrust any further.

Looking down, he was stunned to see a very pale hand gripping his wrist. The drunken man tried to struggle, but it felt like his wrist wasn't his own—he couldn't move it at all. Having had his share of tough situations, he quickly regained his composure and attempted to kick Tangyu.

However, as soon as the drunken man kicked out, he felt a great force from his wrist, his body immediately losing balance, spinning in the air, and then crashing heavily onto the ground.

When he looked again, the dagger had disappeared from his hand. The drunken man looked up at Tangyu, who was nonchalantly flipping the dagger in his hand. At this point, a cold sweat trickled down the man's back, realizing he had indeed bitten off more than he could chew.

Tangyu casually tossed the dagger to the ground, sending a flash of cold light towards the drunken man, who instinctively protected his head with both hands, uttering a frightened cry.

However, after the cry, the drunken man didn't feel any pain. When he moved his hands away, he saw the dagger planted less than three centimeters from his face; a slight deviation, and he might have been disfigured. A chill went down his spine, and he looked at Tangyu with a new sense of fear.

"Aren't you leaving?" Tangyu's indifferent voice rang out.

The man reeking of alcohol immediately clambered to his feet, waved his hand, and, along with his five underlings, beat a hasty retreat. They quickly vanished from Tangyu and his companion's view.

Only after the six had gone far away did Lin Feifei recover her composure somewhat. An unusual gleam appeared in her eyes as she looked at Tangyu, and only when Tangyu returned her gaze did Feifei's face flush and she looked away.

"Just now, thank you so much," Feifei said softly.

Tangyu replied with a faint smile, "It's nothing. You are my patient right now, and it's only right that I protect you."

"I didn't expect you to be so skilled. You seemed like those martial artists from TV," Feifei commented.

Tangyu said, "I've practiced a bit since I was young, it's not a big deal."

The word Kung Fu, mostly seen in television, piqued Feifei's curiosity and interest. She couldn't help but ask Tangyu, "You study medicine, so why do you practice martial arts?"

With utmost seriousness, Tangyu explained, "Miss Lin, you aren't aware, to become a good doctor, one must have a strong will and uphold lofty professional ethics. Practicing martial arts is an excellent way to strengthen one's will. With a strong will, I can face each patient without distraction and remain unaffected by other factors. This way, I don't make distinctions between men and women. So, you understand."

Feifei was still doubtful and asked, "Does that mean you never get tempted?"

Tangyu nodded and said, "Of course not. Everything is just part of treatment, so how could there be other thoughts? Even if I were to sleep next to you, I wouldn't have any improper thoughts towards you. That's my professional integrity, so please rest assured."

"But didn't you say—if—I were to tempt you, then you might—," Feifei said, biting down on her teeth.

Shaking his head, Tangyu remained earnest, "Miss Lin, that situation is different, and I only said it might be possible, not a certainty. I must admit, I haven't reached my master's realm. Therefore, if a stunningly beautiful woman like you, Miss Lin, were really to tempt me, I'm afraid I might struggle to maintain my integrity."

"Pfft—" Feifei couldn't help but laugh out loud. Looking at Tangyu's serious expression, she found herself believing him a bit, saying, "All right, don't worry. Though you look somewhat handsome, I'm not into you. So that scenario you described, it's not going to happen. However, I'm a bit skeptical about the level of your professional integrity."

Tangyu said, "While I may not be at my master's level, I'm still decent. Miss Lin, please don't doubt my abilities."

"Okay, I won't doubt your abilities, but—" Feifei raised her hand, and she saw that her hand was still clasped with Tangyu's. To be precise, it was Tangyu who was holding onto her hand. "Why are you still holding onto my hand?"

"Ahem, this— I forgot." Tangyu cleared his throat and immediately let go of Feifei's hand, feeling a bit regretful inside.
