Emma began to recount her experience.
When she was very young, her father left her mother, and her mother raised her and her younger brother by herself. At the age of seven, while she was playing in the street by herself, a strange man took her to a place.
That place was terrifying. Emma saw many children about her own age; they were all undergoing special training. If they were even slightly disobedient, they would be beaten severely. On Emma's first day, a boy was beaten until his skin split and his flesh gaped. He died, and those people dragged him away to be buried.
Emma was left behind. She couldn't go home, couldn't cry; all she could do was endure the brutal training. She had to learn hand-to-hand combat, learn to shoot, learn many things; she probably stayed there for about three years.
During those three years, children continuously died, and new children kept joining. They were of different skin colors, different nationalities, but the same age.
