Shangguan Mingyue looked at Ye Qiu and chuckled, "What's the matter? I thought you were fearless."
Ye Qiu shrugged his shoulders and raised the corner of his mouth, "I respect some of China's good officials, but I don't fear them. It's just the sight of the ancient architecture in front of me that makes me rather reflective."
Shangguan Mingyue rolled her eyes at Ye Qiu and then made a phone call before pulling him towards the main entrance.
Early that morning, Ye Qiu had been woken up by Shangguan Mingyue, who told him that he could start helping her. After a hurried breakfast, she drove him to the Capital City.
They passed through several layers of security before reaching this point.
Shangguan Mingyue seemed to be a regular visitor, for the guards didn't even request her identification before letting them through. Ye Qiu was slightly surprised by this; Shangguan Mingyue's influence was indeed powerful, allowing her unrestricted access to even the highest centers of power.
