The air felt different. A chill ran down my spine, one that wasn't just from the fading adrenaline of my fight with the Goryeo Royal Guards. I stood there, my senses buzzing, hyper-aware of the lingering presence that wasn't part of the just-defeated squad.
Someone was watching me.
I narrowed my eyes, adjusting my glasses as if that would help me see through the shadows. It's not like I had any time for subtlety, anyway. The feeling wasn't from any of those fallen guards, that was for sure. The energy was different, calculating, like a predator deciding if its prey was worth the chase. If there's one thing I've learned after lifetimes of being chased, it's how to tell the difference between a loser licking his wounds and a predator testing your boundaries.
And this one was definitely testing me.
