In the Five Buddha Hall, Li Huowang met Abbot Xinhui again. This time he was no longer alone. Behind him were four old monks sitting in a row.
"Since you are here, then Donor Xuanyang, let's make it short. We need to hold a general fast to save him."
"Okay, then Abbot, let's start." Li Huowang said immediately.
"Be patient, Donor Xuanyang, Danyangzi's cause and effect lies in you. Before doing this ritual, you need to calm down before you can start."
"Calm down?" Li Huowang was puzzled.
"Amitabha, Donor, your heart is not calm, your heart is sick."
Before the abbot finished speaking, Li Huowang quickly retorted in a stern tone, "I'm not sick!"
As soon as he said this, Li Huowang was shocked by the volume of his voice.
Looking at the five old monks in front of him looking at him meaningfully, Li Huowang took a deep breath and clenched his fists that began to tremble. "May I ask the abbot, what should I do to calm my mind?"
A yellow-covered sutra was handed to Li Huowang, "Take this 'The Five Aggregates Are Empty Sutra' back and recite it three times a day, morning, noon and evening."
Li Huowang took it and opened the sutra, which was full of obscure Buddhist scriptures, and he was completely confused and could not understand the meaning.
"Just recite it? There is no practice? No need to eat anything?" Such a simple step is far beyond Li Huowang's guess.
Seeing Abbot Xinhui shaking his head, Li Huowang picked up the sutra and was about to go out. Just when he was about to reach the door, he turned around and looked at the old monks sitting cross-legged on the round mat.
"Abbot Xinhui, does Zhengde Temple have any practice?"
"Of course there is. As long as the donor is willing to be ordained as a monk and join this temple, you can read it at will in the Sutra Pavilion."
Hearing this, Li Huowang turned around and left. He could not become a monk.
"Donor Xuanyang, please stay in this temple for the time being. Running around like this is a bother for you and us."
This time Li Huowang did not refuse. Since he trusted the other party, being vigilant about this would only make him look petty.
A separate room in Zhengde Temple was tidied up, and Li Huowang stayed here quietly looking at the scriptures he sent.
In the first few days, Li Huowang was still a little nervous, but he found that no one in the temple cared about him at all. Even if he ran to the busy main hall to watch the monk interpret the fortune, no one paid attention to him, so he gradually put his mind at ease.
Late at night, accompanied by an oil lamp, Li Huowang held the scripture in both hands and recited it. "My life is over. My Brahmacharya is established... My work is done, and I will not be reborn. When I preach this Dharma, the five bhikkhus and others will be freed from all troubles. They will believe and follow it..."
When Li Huowang first started reading the so-called "Sutra on the Emptiness of the Five Aggregates", he felt nothing, but as the days passed, he found that his sleep quality was getting better and better, and then he realized that this thing was really useful.
After calmly reciting it once, Li Huowang slowly closed the book, blew out the oil lamp and prepared to go to bed, and began to think about what he would do next.
"After getting rid of Danyangzi, let's go find Hei Tai Sui. If my condition can be stabilized, I can live a stable life in this world."
"But Hei Tai Sui looks fierce. If I really catch him, how can I restrain him and eat his meat every month?"
"Oh, and strength. We must have enough strength to protect ourselves, but this is also difficult."
Just when Li Huowang thought of this, he suddenly saw a shadow of a human head flashing outside the door, and his body tensed up instantly.
"Is someone in the temple watching me?" Li Huowang slowed down, walked slowly to the door, and unbolted the door.
He suddenly opened a crack, and the small courtyard outside the door illuminated by the moonlight was empty. Li Huowang carefully poked his head out and found that in the distance, a corner of the yellow monk's robe was quickly dragged into the dark corridor.
"What's the matter with this temple?" Li Huowang thought for a moment, slowed down his pace and followed.
After taking a few quick steps, Li Huowang saw the bald man in front of him in the moonlight. He couldn't see his front from behind, but since he didn't have any scars, he should not have a high status in Zhengde Temple.
Just like that, in the silent temple, one walked in front and the other followed far behind.
As they walked, the monk suddenly flashed and went into the crack of the half-open door beside him.
Li Huowang was about to go in, but after thinking about it, he turned to the other side of the temple and poked the paper window with his hand dipped in saliva.
Compared to the Five Buddha Hall where the abbot stayed, this hall was not big, and it could even be said to be very small. The Bodhisattva who was holding a seal with one hand and a bottle with the other hand was much smaller than a person.
Even the candles on the altar were only lit for two, making the whole hall very dim.
At this time, someone was kneeling in front of the Buddha, but it was not the monk who had just entered, but a woman.
"Woman? In the temple late at night?"
Before Li Huowang figured out the problem, the woman whispered.
"Merciful Bodhisattva, please give me a son. If I can't have another son, my husband will sell me."
Just as she was saying these words, a naked monk came up quietly from behind the Bodhisattva.
He pulled a red cloth and gently tied the woman's eyes.
The woman's body trembled violently but did not resist. Her breathing gradually became heavy.
With her breathing, seven or eight bald men walked out of the darkness around her, and slowly surrounded her with their hands clasped together.
"Is this the truth that praying for a child is very effective?!" Li Huowang was stunned by everything he saw inside, which overturned all his previous understanding of Zhengde Temple.
Suddenly he noticed something and turned around suddenly. He saw that under the bright moonlight in the courtyard, the man named Jian Dun stood there like a sculpture. "Discovered!"
Looking at Li Huowang, Jian Dun said nothing, just waved his hand gently and turned away.
After taking another glance at the chaos in the hall, Li Huowang followed quietly.
Jian Dun did not take Li Huowang anywhere else, but took him back to his residence, then lit the lamp oil and sat down on the stool.
"I know what you are thinking. Maybe you think the monks in Zhengde Temple are not pure? But do you really think that those pilgrims are fools? Why do they come to worship Buddha in the middle of the night?"
Li Huowang, who was standing at the door, did not speak, waiting for the other party to continue.
"If someone wants a son, we will give them a son. Monks are compassionate and this is doing good deeds."
Hearing this, Li Huowang frowned. "Then you have done a lot of good things."
"No disciple of Zhengde Temple has ever said that their Bodhisattva is effective in praying for children. This is all spontaneous publicity by pilgrims. We didn't say it and they didn't ask."
