A room came into view.
Dennis woke up from the bed, he sat up and rubbed his eyes with his clenched right fist, it was night as darkness had prevailed outside.
The room was inconspicuous, cramped, and rough, it was clearly not Silver Moon Pack Manor, there was a wooden table and chair in one corner, and a lamp with dim light stood atop the table, the bed looked old, while clothes hung freely on hangers at the other corner.
Donned in grey pajamas, he stood up and went over to the table, there was a phone, a pair of round spectacles, a smartwatch, a pair of forceps, and a stainless steel jar on top of the table, the jar spackled as the dim light shone on it, Dennis picked up the spectacles, the brown tousled haired young man wore the spectacles and yawned.
He blinked his blue eyes, then shifted the chair from its hooked position with the table, sitting on it thereafter. He switched on the phone, the time was 10: 30 p.m, it was late in the night.
He navigated the phone interface and opened an app, the app interface came into view, and a large amount of numbers were written in a long row:
18,200,500,600,100 EP bucks (18.2 trillion bucks)
It was a tremendous amount of money in the Epic States of Pelagris.
The digits were written under the option which read 'account balance', the app appeared to be a bank app.
He navigated the transfer option, scrolling through rows of bank names alphabetically arranged, he clicked one whose name was 'Stand Chartered Bank'
Proceeding through the options, he entered the account number in the space provided and entered the amount:
[1,000,000 EP bucks]
A display appeared, it was the recipient name: Golden Age Orphanage.
He entered the four-digit transaction number and clicked the option: Send.
A display of 'transaction successful' appeared on the interface and a debit notification entered his phone immediately, his phone rang a single sound at the same time.
He heaved a sigh and removed the round spectacles with his left hand while placing the phone on the table back.
He shifted the stainless steel jar closer and opened it, the airtight lid made a pop sound, and immediately, white vapor billowed out, and clouds of ghostly mist filled the area around the jar, Dennis picked the forceps and dipped it into the jar, removing it, the forceps brought out few strands of black hair, the strand was frozen, they were now encased in a delicate layer of frost, one would have guessed the liquid inside the jar, it was liquid nitrogen, a liquid gas used for cryogenic preservation, but why was Dennis preserving a few strands of hair? It was still unknown.
The vapor from the jar grew larger, almost enveloping Dennis in a cool damp mist, tiny droplets of water could be seen forming on the sides of the jar and atop the table, a result of the cold nitrogen gas condensing the moisture in the air, he closed back the jar back.
Tiny drops of water were dropping from the strands which he held with the forceps, the delicate frost encasing it was liquefying, after a moment, the drop stopped and the frozen strands were now relaxed and free from their icy state.
But something happened, one of the strands was turning grey, Dennis smiled, he picked the one turning grey and threw it away, then at once, in one swift moment, the forceps moved towards and backward from his mouth, it was like a blur but when he placed it down, there were no strands of hair in the tip of the forceps any more.....
Dennis opened the drawer of the table, he took out a small stuff, it was a violin, a yellow toy violin, it was very small like about one inch in breadth and two inches in length, it had a button on one side, but what does a full grown man want to use a toy violin for, a small one for that matter, he pushed back the drawer.
Dennis pressed the button and its thin short string started vibrating a musical sound, he pressed it again, and it changed to another musical sound, after a while, it stopped. He held the toy violin in his palm and clenched it.
Dennis did something, in a swift movement, the palm he clenched moved to his mouth and back on the table, but the hand remained clenched, he stood.
He picked up the smartwatch on the table and navigated the touch screen, his fingers scrolled to the clock app and he set the timing, the timing was set to the nearest second, and then the countdown started from 12: 00: 00.
In a moment, a breeze blew the door of the room open, as it was left dangling left and right and Dennis was nowhere to be found.
******
Dennis appeared on the roof of a building, it was like a blur when he appeared immediately, it was a very tall building judging from the height he was, as a two-story beside the building appeared shorter, but something looked familiar, the street was obviously illuminated by street lights but the white exterior two stories beside the building he stood on was unmistakable. It was Silvia's house, which could only mean one thing, Dennis was on Crescent Moon Lane and atop Luca's apartment complex.....
Sounds of insects chirping and frog croaking could be heard in the silence of the night.
Immediately, he pressed a button on his smartwatch and checked the screen.
"3.6km in 2.62 seconds, I knew it, his speed will become unparalleled" Dennis spoke after quite a long while, his voice was like a subtle whisper in the night.
He extended his right hand and it started vibrating so fast that it appeared like a blur.
"Mach 4, four times the speed of sound" he had done the math, and he gazed at the vibrating hand. "I'm glad I took a countermeasure, can't have all the car windows shattering due to shack wave and Sonic boom I created when I was running"
His hands which were vibrating in a blur were now becoming slower and more visible.
"The effect is dissipating" he heaved a heavy sigh as if it took a toll on him, "but vibrating my body at 4000 hertz, thousands of oscillations per second to neutralize the shock wave sure took a toll on my body" he relaxed his hand, using both hands to hold his waist, he stretched his body, sounds of joints popping could be heard in the night.
"Alright, let's get to work", he said and crouched down slowly on the roof, his movements deliberate and cautious. He placed one knee on the rough surface, his other leg bent to support his weight. His hand reached out, fingers splayed, and he gently pressed his palm against the cool, hard material of the roof.
Dennis leaned forward, tilting his head to one side. He carefully positioned his ear and the side of his head against the roof, his eyes narrowing in concentration. He looked like a cat trying to hear a mouse's gossip through the floorboards.
"Hmmm..." He mumbled, "He appeared to be asleep, he didn't come to school so I was wondering what he was up to
"70 BPM, his heart rate is normal" He jumped up at once.
"Work done, I should go before the stealth effect wane, that lady isn't ordinary after all"
As he said this finished and looked down at the front of Silvia's house, a figure emerged from the front door, it was a lady figure, she was in a pantsuit and had her short hair tied back, her face wasn't seen since it was a downward view from a three-story apartment complex, Upon seeing her, Dennis gasped as if startled.
Then in a moment, Dennis disappeared like a blur from the roof of the building.
But something happened, instantaneously as Dennis's blur faded, sounds of glasses breaking and exploding were heard, their sounds filling the silence of the night, it was sounding in a sequential order, like one after the other but at a fast pace.
The figure who came out of Silvia's house ran to the street, it was from the cars parked at the side of Crescent Moon Lane, all their windows were shattering left and right in the light of the street lights, leaving an inexplicable phenomenon to their various owners the coming morning...
