Chapter 11 - CHAPTER 11: THE ONLY HOME

Just as Head Academy Officer Remry Gillurt had advised, Rashen freshened up at the academy before leaving. Officer Gillurt was kind enough to provide fresh clothes for Rashen to wear on his way back home.

It was definitely certain now, there would never be a need for Rashen to return to the Academy now that he had been given his deployment form,it was really goodbye. He wished it'd have been a more emotional parting but the past few days had been too much for him. He was both physically and emotionally drained.

He had his sights set on the Lambrid division to serve for the Imperial Forces and he would've chosen to serve their too with the privilege he had when he was announced to be in the top fifteen but he knew that would never be the case now. Even if his right to choose any division to serve was still intact he very much doubted that the Lambrid division would want anything to do with him after hearing the news.

The entire incident from the attack at midnight to Rashen's arrest and imprisonment had been news that spread like wildfire all over Nottenam and perhaps even to other regions in Ephyre. Now probably the entire country thought he was no good.

Rashen flew home. He didn't feel like walking and he didn't want to be spotted by anyone just yet,not the he would care about what they would have to say. He flew high above the clouds,he liked feeling the wind in his face. It was blissful,it was the first time he had felt peaceful at all in days. He flew shirtless of course,he didn't plan on running another shirt due to the flames from the outgrowths on his back.

Eventually he had to land,he was almost above the Goldenfire Estate. He didn't want to cause a commotion,he just needed to get in there, pack his things and leave, simple as that. It seemed they were already one step ahead of him though.

As he walked up towards the employee gate where he had been using all his life he saw boards of wood scattered around, rusty nails all over the floor and the broken pieces of a plastic bucket. He already knew of course just from looking, his shack, the place he lived in growing up had been destroyed, dismantled and thrown out, perhaps in anticipation of his return. His bags were already packed there laying on the ground for him.

This was the final message from the Goldenfire Family that was probably initiated after the news of his arrest. He was officially kicked out and never to step foot into the estate ever again. He saw the old security guard at the employee gate looking at him, watching him as he took his already packed bag which from the looks of it had been outside for a week receiving both the sun and the rain. He took a deep breath and began to walk away, away from the Goldenfire Estate, away from the pain, the suffering and the trauma. He didn't look back.

Rashen took a carriage to the station where he would board the Rail Runner to his deployment location. The Rail Runner was a revolutionary method of traveling,it was like a carriage but could seat over a hundred people at once taking them to various destinations along the rail line. Seeing as it's body was made of metal it was mostly operated by metal tamers who had the job of bringing the Runner to a complete stop at each station once the engine was turned off and to once again push the runner forward once the engine is turned back on.

It was a 30 minute ride but to Rashen it felt a lot shorter. He really was not willing to reach his deployment location but he had no choice,no say in his matter, at least not at this point. The station he boarded off looked weary and vandalized, but for his new home that was within expectations. After departing from the station he let out a sigh as he saw the huge sign that read 'WELCOME TO GRITTSHORE' or as Rashen and the other cadets would like to call it, the most dangerous and crime ridden region in Ephyre.
